If the needle's eye is too wide, it will be difficult to pull the needle through the thread twists. So use the needle with same thickness the whole length. If you don't have that kind of needle, just try to do loose thread twists around the needle and after pulling the needle try to tight the thread as shown in the video. But thread twists/loops shouldn't be too loose or too tight. If you want to make more twists/loops, use a long needle that also should be with same thickness the whole length.
