Imagine not sticking the landing, willingly getting penalized -0.5 for having a spotter, and still placing second. 👏🏼👏🏼 also her mentality for not letting her “mistake” in her first vault ruin her success in the second vault is spectacular 😍

I love how Simone kept her composure after the missed landing on the YDP, controlled her nerves, didn't allow it to rattle her, and performed a great Cheng, which is also a very difficult vault. At 26-years-old she is still phenomenal.

1:27- 1:57 finally someone explained to all the non-gymnasts why this particular vault technique is so difficult and so special. Thank you sir! This whole time I kept wondering why everyone is making such a big deal over this jump, to me they all look just as difficult.

I’d say precision is one key element. If you over rotate you’re gonna fall backwards but if you under rotate it you might all on your neck. There might be more to it but that’s what I’m getting.

Not a gymnast, but I would say the “pike” position with your legs extended and your body bent over them is not very aerodynamic thereby needing more power to flip over each time as you loose momentum (she flips twice) also it looks like momentarily you loose site of the floor. But again not a gymnast.

She lost the gold medal but she won all my admiration because she went for the most difficult vault. She knows her value which no medal can measure anymore.

She had a critical mistake and still got on the podium 🤯🤯

Imagine you FALL on your most difficult vault and STILL get a score of 14. 433 which BY ITSELF is higher than most vaults in this competition, WOW! @@leykimayriyou know that’s bullshit because Simone has put this fault to her feet every single time she’s performed this in competition. Simone is the only one who can generate the height with proper form and rotation to actually pull this off. It’s not like she’s under rotating the skill and using her spotter to cheat. She has more than enough ability to compete this vault, and she has only fallen performing it once. Girls come off on skills on BB and UB but they don’t devalue the skill. Stay mad cause it’s the most difficult thing in the code and only SHE can do it well

People Saying without the spotter and yadda yadda yadda. It’s the same as saying that If Rebeca had repeated the best scores she had this quad she would have won yesterday. Just speculation. Let’s apprecciate the other gymnast achievement and stop just finding excuses when Simone doesn’t come up with gold.

Still glad Simone went for it. It’s a risky and dangerous vault. I remember how Makayla Maroney was expected to win gold at the Olympics but fell on her vault. They can do the vault perfectly in practice but when it’s show time anything can happen.

@@peekaboopeekaboo1165 Yeah I believe so if you are better than competition it shows that they are good but you are great, her moves are so difficult that if she made a mistake it would just even the score instead of pushing her ahead, that why her floor routine beat out she does some of the hardest and highest difficulty, look up her floor routines and which ones she does and their point in the code, most are F and above her own the Biles I is an G and I think the Biles II on floor is an J the highest score.

The YDP seems a safer choice (than the Produnova) to fall and still score competitively. Surely not everyone would easily have as high E score.

More super lean than ever, almost junior looking, slimmer jaw and neck (IMHO, more beautiful and cutter face and smile), glowing skin, thicker fuller hair, wider range or arm mobility and overall upper body agility in non-tumbling moments, walks effortlessly. What a difference compared with the Tokyollapse Simone.

I get having a spotter on bars but on vault is crazy…. So if the spotter is used is it an automatic zero? How will they score it if the athlete is caught in the air? Lol

This is not an easy event, it requires strength & concentration as one has to be focused to control their body while being airborne! Unlike high divers these gymnasts are working against gravity!

The 0.5 for being safe is still a joke when it’s perfectly okay on bars. She should’ve won although I’m really happy for Rebecca.

You think she should have won even when she fell on a vault?? Simone wasn't required to do that vault, nor was she required to have a spotter they knew the rules going into the competition and choose (imo wisely) to do both....sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't.

Gymnasts have short term memory and they have to because you have to shake it off or else when you fall from beam how do you get back on?

La note de kaylia Nemmour en poutre 13,300 super bien effectuée hier alors que Mélanie DJDS n’a fait que des déséquilibres 13,450 et quelques… 12,700 pour le sol de Nemmour également. She did a "Maroney II" rather than a Biles II. The GOAT needs to be better than that.

Well yes because pushed herself to do more difficulty, she doesn’t want to settle for a easy vault to just easily stick it, if any of the other gymnast tried to do the skills she do they would also not be clean or worse.

J’adore Rebeca Andrade. Mais elle quelqu’un peut m’expliquer comment Simone biles qui effectue le Cheng hier (15,100) de la même manière et aujourd’hui se retrouve avec 14,666. Et comment Andrade a 15,000 sur ce saut aujourd’hui avec des petits pas et quasiment une sortie de zone. Il va falloir m’expliquer. Andrade avait eu dans la même compétition 14,900 lors de la finale par équipe en effectuant le cheng parfaitement. Et la 15,000 avec des pas… Je suis désolée mais le cheng de Simone biles méritait plus que celui d’Andrade même si j’adore cette gymnaste. Je trouve que depuis le début de la compétition et même lors des championnats de l’année précédente il y’a des notes parfois incompréhensibles et variables avec de grands écarts même lorsqu’elles effectuent la même chose. J’ai l’impression qu’on privilégie et qu’on attribue les notes qu’on veut a qui on veut parfois.

Watch Simone's Cheng. She's completely wonky and bent as she hits the table, leg separation leaving springboard, feet crossed, toes not pointed, big bounce back on landing. Lots of deductions.
