Gianluca Vialli was the golden boy for italy yet toto Schillaci got a chance to become the best striker Will not be surprised if Watkins or Toney make an big impact if they get the chance. You only have to look a Portugal to see what happens if your selection is hampered by brand politics which definitely is a factor in keeping an out of form unfit kane in the team.

I think you have to keep things real. Foden has only scored 4 times in 39 caps, so as an England player we don't see his great club form. Bellingham's has scored 5 in 34 caps. Kane has scored 64 in 96 caps. So for me he should start the first half, 2nd half Toney.

There's a one match time lag between us working something out and Gareth seeing who was right. The man doesn't listen to advice and tomorrow reality will catch up with him.

Saying Kane “always starts a tournament slowly” while there are only 2 possible matches for them is ridiculous.

I'm not a huge fan of Kane but he has to start the game due to his record, stature in the game, and our best finisher. However, Southgate cannot be afraid to take him off after 60 minutes if Kane is being ineffectual and we need another type of forward, e.g. the pace of Watkins. The Dutch is a different sort of game, they will attack more which will create more space for England to play.

Do you remember the 1 v 1 Toney had in the Slovakia game Kane would’ve put that away

I think Kane just needs to goal-hang more. I keep seeing him tracking back and defending. Admirable, but then he's not in place when the play breaks in England's favor. I've seen him winning quite a few of these challenges in Euro 2024, which is admirable. Still, he's nearly 31, was never fast when he waw young, and doesn't have the pace to get back into the 9 position.
