    To be fair I'm pretty sure that's what the club have said and leaked out that they're up against FFP and would struggle to spend to a large degree. I don't know if it''s true as I'm not really that knowledgeable about Newcastle's financial situation but I'm sure I saw from a couple of articles that "Sources within the club suggest that they would struggle to spend large in January due to FFP...etc".

    He's more right than Simon. Newcastle have a net spend of over £400mil the last 2 and a half years. What "prudency" existed prior to the last 3 years is irrelevant for FFP. Plus big wages on top of that £400mil.

    Newcastle like Aston Villa can't just go & spend loads of cash on players,cos their revenues are nowhere near the clubs that have been consistent over the last 10-15years,a clubs revenues are tied in too what you can do with the FFP regulations & it doesn't matter how rich your owners are,clubs can only spend what comes in legitimately. People seem to forget about these FFP rules when going on about a clubs perceived riches, Newcastle's & Aston Villa's owners have bucket loads of cash,but they cannot put in anymore than the current regulations allow,EPL Clubs are allowed to loose 105: million over a 3yr period. Newcastle & Aston Villa had a yearly revenue in the last set of accounts approximately 215 million each over a year,where as Chelsea & Spurs had approximately 450 million each for their yearly revenues in the same period,with Liverpool,utd & city taking more income than the fore mentioned examples. All Villa, Newcastle can do is work smarter & hope the higher revenue clubs waste income, catching up bit by bit over a long period, that's why the current rules suck & FFP just protects the so called big 6? Lol & doesn't allow fair competition,FFP has created a small clique of clubs that monopolise football & are a complete farce. I believe that the regulations should be staggered dependent on level of club revenue & allow clubs with less income more leeway over a period of time in order to catch up,but that'll probably never happen,a fair playing field is alien to the powers that be,cos the people that make those same rules probably get very rich keeping the status quo just how it is. Corrupt fuckers!.....up the mighty Villa!!!!!

    The commercial side of things is the most significant aspect for elite clubs. Truth of the matter is, Newcastle just don't have that just yet. They need to expand their commercial side, improve sponsors, win trophies, qualify for European competitions. Make huge profits on player sales etc. It'll take time. However I do believe it's not just FFP that stops the Newcastle owners because I think they're sticking to a very strict financial plan that isn't as risky as what the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are doing. This might be because newcastle don't want to make too many changes to the relationship dynamics amongst the players, look at Chelsea, they bought tons of players and are now finding it difficult to make them gel together. So Newcastle are clearly going down a slower route. It's a 5 year plan, last season was over-performance and put them ahead of schedule.

  • @lconnerz100

    @lconnerz100

    5 ай бұрын

    Well it is strictly ffp, Newcastle can’t spend because the rules that are in place, you’re right they’re sticking to a strict financial plan…but that plan is there because it coincides with ffp. If Newcastle are to spend money then they will either need to wait or somehow sell dead wood for some sort of considerable fee.

  • @JP-es1nb

    Newcastle might have the money but I don’t think they have the pull to get the end game players they want. Rather than spend big on 2nd rate elite players, they need to stabilise in the champions league but adding 1 or 2 each season with potential to grow. Once they are always in the mix, the players will want to come. Right now, I think they’ve dropped off a little bit from an extraordinary run of form last year. They can see the mistakes Man Utd and Chelsea are making. I think Newcastle are being smarter. They are not chasing it, they are working towards it.

You know its bad when Jordan's confused since hes been against the NUFC regime from the start. Your Man United's and Liverpool's didn't have to compete with FFP, they were allowed to build. Now its a problem. Could you imagine opening a shop, you have £10m in your bank account and you can't bring in 500k worth of stock to grow build and expand because your turnover is only 100k 😂 Its an insane and artificial rule to keep your Man Uniteds, Liverpool's, Arsenals, Chelsea's and Spurs at the top. Name brilliant players who went onto be brilliant managers?? Very very few over the years. If any in my view. Fergie, Wenger, Mourhinio, Klopp, Clough, Paisley - all average players. The list goes on and on. Pepe stands out as a recent exception I guess. Dalglish comes close but even then, he kind of inherited it all. Souness?? Apart from a two horse race in Scotland, he certainly didn't set the managerial world on fire. Lampard and Gerrard certainly didn't. Viera kind of stuffed it too. The list goes on and on. Will happen to Villa next year….Brighton look like they have given up and look happy to be chelsea’s feeder club and beyond newcastle & villa none of the others have revenues anywhere close!!! FFP was always going bite eventually. Will kill competition given Everton’s punishment. I don’t see why Newcastle should fall foul of FFP. It sounds like journalists talking about finances without actually understanding how accounting works. I am no expert by any means but as I understand it what they’ve spent doesn’t show as an immediate loss on the balance sheet it gets amortized over the length of a contract but a player sale does show as full revenue. Take Botman for 35mil over 5 years will show as a 7mil loss every year. Selling Saint Maximin for 25mil will cover nearly 3 players in a similar price bracket for a year. They also have large broadcasting revenue like every Prem club. If they’ve posted profits in the last few fiscal years they have to lose a lot of money to fall of the 105mil loss over 3 years.
