The screaming fandom got a taste of what they showed up in the masses for with Yago Dora and Italo Ferreira squaring off in the Final after watching a Southern California showdown between Caitlin Simmers and Sawyer Lindblad. Ferreira’s form was undeniable and kept the fire burning all the way toward back-to-back CT wins, now sitting at No. 4 on the rankings. Simmers stormed through Finals Day to retain the Vivo Rio Pro title, the yellow jersey, and clinched her spot into the Lexus WSL Finals. The Final 5 picture shuffled for both the men and women with Gabriela Bryan making her move over World Title contender Johanne Defay for the No. 5 spot

Have to give credit to all the pro surfers for their talent and ability just to be able to manage a chaotic wave. Some of the scores were a reflection of how hard it was to get a wave, let alone a decent one. Yago was my pick to win at least he made the final to set up for a thrilling event at cloudbreak for the top 5. ✌️🤙 Ps. Did the crowd and beach announcer go home during the women's final? It was dead quiet! Shame they can't bring the energy even if it's not their own. 😉🤔

Final 5 is such a terrible format. The best surfer that surfs the best year round could lose to a heat and a title stolen. 🤦♂️

Yep, Stupid format. Kick ass all year and have a bad day and your year is down the tubes. Somebody real stupid came up with this idea. Should be about your consistency through the year not about the luck of the waves on one day. STOOOOPID.

WHACK! If you think Italo won that semi, you’ve lost your mind. Politics in full effect on that one. Judges giving Italo a high seven for a floater while giving griff two low sevens for two monster airs on the biggest waves of the heat. Not to mention throwing a 9 at italos air on a chest high wave… The smallest wave ridden of that heat. It’s to be expected tho.
