By the way, the tuning foam can be easily removed from the nozzles with a small pin or something similar. You can always return it to its place again

I use dunu s&s tips on my set and they sound great. It’s a great set to switch between every so often. They actually made me sell my Kato because I liked the detail better than the Kato

Hi, another cool catadegen video and discussion 🐱 Insertion depth is a great topic and sharing your experience with this iem’s tuning impact of insertion depth is pretty unique and appreciated! This may inspire me to try different size tips and insertion depths. I have heard that depth changes the ear canal volume, and as there is variation in ear canal lengths, the same iem can sound different to different people. I don’t know if length of the canal or volume has the same effect? But it is helpful to see a reviewer experiment and show that it’s worth experimenting. Also your intuition that there could be more goodness to find is another cool idea to share 🎧🙏✨ My Ety Evo’s have a ridiculous insertion depth, though it makes a big positive difference to get there. My drop k10’s are barely inserted, so will need some smaller tips to test a deeper fit. Air Pod Pro 2’s have a tendency to fall out of one ear, so may try a smaller tip on that side ✨

I agree about the insertion depth. I've been using this set for almost a week now. I've been going back and forth between nozzles to find the best one for my taste since every nozzle performs better or worse in different songs. Eventually, I've decided on the gold nozzle since it gives the best bass and least treble peak. However, I still had some treble peaks with the gold nozzle so you can guess that it was almost unbearable with the other two nozzles sometimes. I've been using the large ear tips because I feel like they seal my ear canal better but I realized that I cannot insert the nozzles into my ear canal as deep as it should be. Today, I tried the medium size and realized that the treble peak is much lower that way. Not inserting the nozzle deep enough into the ear canal definitely causes the upper frequencies to be too peaky. After this experience, I may try the silver/red ring nozzle again since it gives more clarity than the gold nozzle with better bass than the silver/black ring nozzle. Maybe the treble with the silver/red ring nozzle will not bother me as much when I insert the nozzle into my ear canal deeper than before.

got a pair of 4-5 year old earphones that I've CA glued together at least 3 times, the silicon housing for the earbuds are falling apart and the connector is slowly getting loser and loser but I've been using it daily and its never had any problems (aside from the housing starting to disintegrate after dropping them a stupid amount of times)

Nice review. I do not agree with your claim that multi-driver IEMs are better and reproduce frequencies better than 1DDs. Once you have multiple drivers, the IEM is not minimum phase anymore and you have crossover issues to deal with. Having a ton of "techs" in an IEM makes it much harder to tune and this is why most companies who go down this route fail to create a good-sounding IEM.

Between em6l and ea500lm which one would you pick for genres such as jpop and vocaloid?

That's a tricky one, technically, i like ea500lm more for the two genres you mentioned because it's clearly more vivid and dynamic, and vocal does pop out a lot more as well,, but when it comes to long time listening/daily section, I found myself using em6l more, simply because it's just more relax and versatile for other functions.

Which one would you recommend for gaming EM6L or the EA500 LM?

If im going for a REALLY long section in competitive gaming, say Apex, I will go for EM6L, but if im going for an epic/fun experience, like Helldiver 2, I will go for EA500LM.

Since my pixel 7 doesn't have an audio jack, I need to use a dongle. I think dongles ruin the sound no matter how great the earphones are. When a song starts, there's a half a second when the sound is still off until it quickly fades in. And when there's low sound in a song, it wants to cut off. I hate dongles. I wish they would bring back audio jacks.

I think the problem is the quality of the dongle. I recently bought a Tanchjim Space and it doesn't suffer from any of those problems. Granted it is about 80€ but i am certain there are significantly cheaper dongles that don't have those problems. The Space is the only dongle i have so don't know how much cheaper but if you look at reviews on audiophile forums and on youtube i think you can find out. I agree that phones should have audio jacks.

I can attest to this and dongle quality. A cheap dongle might even hiss when the music is silent but playing. Buying more premium though, like the moondrop dawn pro, fixes those problems, with the tradeoff of being bulkier. Yet to try out the bluetooth tws adapters if not a bluetooth dac like the fiio btrs, but they're probably also worth considering

do you prefer spinfit w1 or omni on this set i listen to lot of pop songs

I only use the default small eartips on it. Since the w1 has a long tube, i'd not use it on this set, you can try omni tho.

This sounds way more vivid and dynamic in pop songs, and the vocal pops more within it. But I really like EM6L as a daily driving/gaming set, because it sounds relax, yet with decent soundstage, big bass and decent technical performance to deal with most info that I consume.

so is this the best 1DD under $500?

Pure tech wise, it's the best 1DD in my hand, that's all I can say. Given that I don't have my hand on ie600, origin etc., really can't comment much.

It sounds U shaped when I just use it straight out of the box with gold filter/M size eartips, but it sounds kind of v shaped when I'm using it with silver/red filter + S size eartips, weird I know.
