Ойындар
The first installment in my tutorial series. Here I will show you how to build a medium-sized city with skyscrapers.
I built the cities for this tutorial in under an hour! Thank you for watching, hope you enjoyed it.

In the old days of 2008, this was the best tutorial you could get out there...

@Applejack: Nope, this video is completely incorrect! It is NOT the best tutorial out there! Since simulation games are based on math, which is a "fixed" science, there can only be one mathematical solution and this is far from correct! Maxis used its same formula for every SimCity version and I have solved them all. If anyone wishes to see the REAL solution, visit my forum CJ, Mythicon Valley, at Simtropolis.com ;-)

@@CrybKeeper I am interessted by what you say. I agree with you, there is one mathematical solution, but you forgot something important ! Solution to what ? If it's the solution to get the biggest amount of citizen, then the solution is different from the one which allow us to get the most polluted city. Mathematicly ;)
As someone who has tried and failed on and off for 9 years to have a successful city.. you are a wizard.
This... this is it. I heard this song for the first time in about a decade and I wanted to know why it was so nostalgic. I knew it had to be from an old tutorial, so I looked up "SimCity tutorial" and just a few results in, with that _14 years ago_ I just knew. The memories are strong, the feeling is just bitter, no sweet. All I dream of is going back in time. I just want to be happy again. 😞 September 30, 2023
aaah, the old tutorial song.

best song ever! :D
The thing I love about these games is that it feels immensely satisfying to have a booming city with little or no problems and skyscrapers everywhere.
I remember referring to this awhile back, likely 2009-2011, and I recently fired up the game on my new pc and thought I’d come back to pay a visit. This video series is nostalgic lol
Wow, I remember watching this 7 years ago. Nostalgia feels.
After so many years I found this video again and the music, just brings back so many memories and this video made me fall in love with this song back in the day and I’ll never forget this tutorial as well helped me a bunch back when I was in high school on those summer breaks. Just so glad I found this video again 🥲
I wish Maxis would come back to make a sequel to this. Not whatever that thing that came out in 2013 was.
lol I finally found you! I watched this when I was a dumb kid who didn't know how the game worked. When I tried this in the game, it would never work XD

WOW, I had no clue that cities were connected, what the whole demand thing was, and building a city in general. Thank you so much for this great video.
A small tip regarding avenue intersections: use roundabouts. Okay, maybe it'll mess up the corners, but bus and metro stations do that too. The traffic will be improved. And in the middle there is a 2x2 area where you can place either: Parks, health services, firestations, bus stations, water pumps and metro stations, or any possible combinations.
This tutorial is an excellent recipe for a fast bankruptcy!

Back when i watched this i was happy no worries and little did i know what hell awaited me and was probably laughing at me being happy. This video feel so good because it reminds me a little bit of who i was.

Jordan 'Dingus'Jones There are cities that are based on grids like this.

BlueonGoldZ Not as intense as that though, i know a lot of American cities are very griddy, but most of the worlds cities aren't and they look better XD

Jordan 'Dingus'Jones I prefer the grid work system. Much easier to navigate than a tangle of streets shooting off in any direction. Most European cities were made before an era of cars which is why they don't look as uniform as American cities.
I did this I went broke so fast :/

You can't expand too quick, adding too many zones and roads increases maintenance and your budget will hemorrhage...
the music isn't boring, I like it. Makes it easier to read the writing in the video.
This helped me get my first ever 150,000 person city, thank you Romeo!
You completely failed to explain your road system dude.
I HATE THIS MUSIC
Hello everyone, I am working on a new series of detailed tutorials on how to build and manage a new city, it will cover a lot more on the interfaces and the complexity of the game which complement video series like this, it may not be perfect but I sincerely hope it can help many of you on how to play this game (especially if you are new to it). Please check out my channel and like this comment and the videos if you found it good. Tyvm!!
(i dont have the game but in using KZread as a recommender) - right now you just made simcity 4 nr 1 on the list :) - all of your 3 tutorials really showed me how the game works, the problems you get, a little of the value of the buildings, and how important etc. the bus system is (;
Great tutorial, really helped get me started!!
Wow! nostalgia is hitting HARD.
My roommate gave me this game, its quite fun to play, I dont usually play computer games but this is something I am interested in, thanks for this video! My city is looking good with your steps.
Excellent tutorial! I loved Simcity as a kid; thanks for helping me build a city. I've learned a lot from your video here. Your next video if you make one, use some Strauss! :D Excellent city building musics.

Tried and Tested. This Method or plan works brilliantly. Thanks! :)
This looks much more complicated than societies, and therefore, a challenge. Excellent.
Just got Sims 4 yesterday. If it's not hard it's not fun. Thanks for the ideas. Love these sims games. I'm having trouble building Hwy's. Guess I need to start with them first like you suggested.
omg it works. thanks dude. even with this music i will like your video. just after i pumped up my neighbour city to 60k people and returned to my main city my graph for commercial was over 6000 demand and many skyscrapers were already appearing to build from far view :)
Very insightful and well explained - and the music works very well too! I do miss some aesthetics, though that might not be within the scope of the video. Great work!

I love the music. It needs to be this way for every single tutorial
Thank you very much for the video. Very enlightening on some stuff I was ignoring. :)
Fairplay this is a great tutorial, although I haven't stuck completely to it it's really helped me with the layout of my City, the neighbouring city stuff was also very helpful.. Good work XD

This tutorial is great for new players, but if you want a more sophisticated, detailed city, I'll be uploading one soon.
Good tutorial indeed. Learnt a few things I didn't know about initially. Your City Planner must be absolutely berserk about the complete lack of streets, though. XD
This is a great video. I can think about re-creating Oshawa, Whitby, Bowmanville and Clarington to be monsterous cities. Only this can be done in Sim CIty 4. But in real life, it would take hundreds of years for this to happen.
BTW, LOVED the music, don't change, great help btw, thank you
Thanks! Great video!
Thanx man! Gonna try yo advise.
Thank you *very much*. This was really helpful. :)
dont be saying the music was boring, i love classical music! and this was a great video!
This is good. You're awesome. The only thing else I like to to is lots of terraforming and what not to make the cities look nice :P
this was very cleverly done... WIN
Thanks this is really cool!!
@VBackseatRomeoV Great tutorial man. Really informative and well written. Kudos to you!
I really fancied going back onto Simcity until I saw this, now I can't be arsed.
Great guide! Took a bit of trial and error but it did work :D
nice work fella.
i love seeing other people's methods for building big cities. something i found to be easier was building neighboring cities before building my main city. that way, i could manage the rci demand and have no demand for low wealth residential and dirty industry. it worked pretty well. so far i have a fair sized city with no low wealth and 400,000 residents (along with some beautiful skyscrapers).
really good video, thanks
thx for uploading... it's very helpful!!! and how easy it is! ...actually :-)
I really liked the music (& the video of course)
I don't think anyone on Earth has ever heard of such a thing. Besides the guy who made it up. ^
I found this so helpful
I'm here to see the great graphics, also downloading it. I want to see if I can run a city like a boss!
Great vid, you've solved the Maxis algorithm. Question: When you first started building your neighboring town to get high wealth residents, which density did you use? I'm always unsure of which density to use where for residential. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it simply the closer to my offices (downtown) the denser? So any residential in first city is dense, neighboring would be medium and low? Thanks.
Thanks for explaining the theory behind Sim City... My cities are always having unemployment and budget deficit problems...
starting with a freeway? homie, u outta control.
Hey Dmitri, what is the name of the building on the far right at 9:08? I love the design
Without talk to much, very helpful, old still gold
Good vid. I bought the again 10 years later.
Great Tutorial
thanks this helped a lot
Check out Episode 3 (and 1, 2) of my tutorial series in my channel, hope it helps
The music on this is totally epic. What is it? Great instructional as well, gonna buy the game now.
I haven't played this for ages, but I remember it as the hardest game I have ever played! weakness definately pays lol
Nice video i love the music.
dumb question but how'd you get power to go everywhere when your plant is in one corner and everything else is on the far side? I didn't see any powerlines. Also, did you use the deluxe version or sim city 4 original?
dude ur an awsome player!!!
@DaultonBahm Did you try lowering the funding for utilities?
but overall i did apply some of these methods in my own game play and i had great results, thanks for the vid
thanks for the video!!!
I just got this game and I have no clue where to begin. Thanks for guide!
@59AJ59 try separating zones like he does, then connect them up with the highways, but put in tolls so that sims have to pay when commuting. You can make as much as your taxes using this method, so you pretty much double your income. just make sure sims can only commute through tolls.
dude i just bought it from steam, it's great!
Nice vid!! First I really didn't know how to get to the real high density cities, I was stuck and got no further than medium density residential appartments. Now I know that a neighbouring city can give you skyscrapers. I'm testing your design now and untill now it works, I have 8000 residents in one city, all sorts of wealth, soon as I hit 15000 I'll expand civics and start a city next door. I guess it is absolutely not possible to get high density with only one city? I'd really like to know...
How do you get the environment bar green? I know we should always plant trees and build some parks. Is that all you've done?
Damn that was thorough
@baseballfuries08 There are two or three "devices"(don't know what else to call them) in the transportation-highway section that are specifically designed to get on highways. They are the highway side and overpass buttons.
thx a lot man!
Ah, I love this song.
dude the music is amazing the best video on youtube im sorry but it is very true
So Pro. I do exactly as you do.... not even close to the same results. not even remotely close.. every city flops from spending. You too pro bro...
@McBlemmen i was confused about this at first. what i didn't realise is that you need to build up your second rate industry (above agricultural) more because the demand is greater. that gets a whole load of taxes but make sure you keep it away from your housing areas
is it vital to divide your city using high ways or is do you do it to make things easier?
Ahh, I love this song.
You've done this really really well this will help because I'm shit most of the time. But is this deluxe or Rush Hour as opposed to the original, because I don't think I can get two laned main roads. I only get the option of streets, single main roads and bus stops which is why theres always bad traffic in my city. I don't put roads in before putting zones in and everywhere has streets. Nonetheless everything else makes perfect sense, nice one.
@TheDinozRule , thanks men, but this one i can download on internet or I have to buy the cd?
when i play i dont have the grid covering the whole plain, i just have a partial grid around my cursor. how do i fix this?
How do you go from your first city to a second one and a third etc.? All the videos on youtube show someone building up a first city then going to a second one but they don't show what they click to get to the new city. And I don't see them exiting out to the region and picking a new square to build on so the tutorial gets confusing because I get stuck after the first city.
but tha's is the expansion or the original?? and how you do the options in the menu of taxes?? i no have that's
@Theanimatedcow Road problems are always an issue in any high capacity city, especially if you haven't installed the network addon mod for extra, more realistic, road options. For example, even with it, my LP is often plagued with traffic problems after hitting 200k people or so.
Didn't play this game in like 2 years and now it's 2018 and therefore IM BACK BITCHES
@AfroBotSays I see. Does it help if I make the neighboring cities random? I mean... not put any effort in them?
im a little confused....i did as you did but theres constant complaints about all my roads...does it matter or does having all-roads reflect the cities status?
I really like the vid but how do you get all those things like the two lane roads?
You're probably new to youtube, if you did. The rest of us have been here for years, and this song is one 10 to the hundredth videos.
