I can't say I envy your position, but in a curious way, I do. I envy your feelings whilst listening to this song, it reminds me of when my first-love gave up on me, suddenly, and without any valid explanation. Then just moved on another one. And I would listen to this... In a way, it was very comforting. I never understood that girl, she said liked me, she was also showing it. Now I just hear notes. Good luck on your recovery, time heals everything, you already know that.

"Giving Up" I used to make the light shine for you, The sun has left my sky. Velvet walls surround my sorrows, I've sacrificed my pride. Giving up on me, You're giving up on me Giving up on me, You're giving up on me. I've laid myself to sleep tonight I know you've played out everything in your mind. And now you throw it all away, A shattered memory that you would stay. Through thick and thin with me, You're giving up on... Giving up on me, You're giving up on me Giving up on me, You're giving up on me. I've laid myself to sleep tonight I know you've played out everything in your mind, your mind And now you throw it all away A shattered memory that you would stay Through thick and thin with me. And when you feel the pain, I'm wishing I could stay. How can I say I love you back, You never made me happy. You've laid yourself to sleep! I never said this wouldn't hurt. You gave up everything! I never said I'd give it back. I know! (I know!) You'll never change! I won't be good enough for you. I know! (I know!) You'll make it through, I'll never be around to see. And now you throw it all away A shattered memory that you would stay Through thick and thin with me.

Alvaro Zambrano Si.

Shane Told is one of the greatest and most versatile performers to ever take the stage and he always has been. I appreciate that greatness is in the eye of the beholder but this is my take for those that are interested. I understand I will be talking to a lot of fans on here but just re-working my way through the back catologue and from where we start, at songs like this and "Smashed into pieces" through to "My Heroine" is big enough as it is. Worked my way through to "Bankrupt." (my latest gym smasher) and there is an immeasurable difference. I know this comment is focused around my opinion of Shane and his skills (and rightly so when most other bands of the era required TWO front men, let alone the same guy screaming then switching back and fourth between melody and brutality.) All credits to the other band members and their talents also. Shane is extremely unique and diverse a performer you will ever find to me though and I personally think it should be celebrated. I was at the very 1st Europe tour Silverstein ever performed at the Manchester, England, UK date and I will be at many more to come. Including the final as soon as they can afford to do the retirement tour rounds. Do we even need to discuss the epic Kanye cover of "Runaway?" This single alone still hits me as hard as my 1st listen.

This is the kind of whiny vocals any emo band should model after, love this song, one of the greatest emo songs ive ever heard seriously

Depression was better back then
I dont care if this early 2000s heartbreak. Its 2023 and my heart is broken and this was my go to song.

Great song to deal with depression. Definitely needed in June of 2024. 😮

Alvaro Zambrano Si.

This song brings back so many memories during my teenage days 🥲
this is exceptional
2022 and I'm still here. 💔
