Such a weird video in retrospect: Dave Grohl with his then-girlfriend, who he would later cheat on with Winona Ryder, introducing a band with a singer who was constantly compared with his deceased former bandmate. Meanwhile VS would soon break up because Nina cheated on her boyfriend with the band's drummer, and Louise would then hook up with Nina's ex (the one she cheated on). Phew!

I remember when they came to my hometown Townsville in 1999 for the Neon Ballroom tour. They started out playing their new stuff, and it was ok. You could feel the disappointment in the crowd though. A long time went by and people who seemed to know what they were talking about were telling others "oh, they don't do their old stuff anymore"'. Anxiety began to set in, but then BOOM! Chris begins his intro into Israel's Son. Strands of my hair literally raised up, that's how powerful the bass was, and from there it was pure insanity. The crowd went nuts and after that they kept powering out the Freakshow and Frogstomp tunes. Been to all types of shows and festivals over the years since then but 18 years later and I've never experienced a rock moment like the one I had that night in Townsville. Thank you Silverchair.

When I was a kid, I started building distortion pedals, starting with a valve one. My aim, to release a tube pedal. I even had a known Melbourne indy band try a prototype... unfortunately, it developed a fault on the day. Maybe five years later, the market was basically flooded with tube type pedals, and I first learned that Silverchair were using one. So I wonder if Daniel's using that one here.

Daniel Johns is so fucking underrated as a songwriter. Listen to anything after Freak Show and it's sounds more like the Beatles and Beach Boys than grunge (although for the record, I love the first two Silverchair albums, amazing heavy songs) only it's not a copy of those bands, it's just really good, amazing music. He deserves more respect.

Anything after "Frogstomp" is really good. Like, freakishly good. To me, "Freak Show" and "Diorama" are Daniel's best moments as a consistent songwriter. He not only shows that he can play some really unique post-grunge (a mostly horrible genre), he can also hold his weight in writing songs that aren't as tacky as "Frogstomp"'s efforts. Silverchair began with "Freak Show," not with "Frogstomp."

Then having to replay your childhood songs all the time in concerts coz everyone else loves them but u can't stand them. Plus the record company's only interested in old rocky silverchair music, and doesn't consider the way the band was going as sellable music. Plus I think they're just sooo sick of each other that's why they cancelled their 6th album mid production. So form your own band with others on the same wavelength and you might get more music. Ben has/had his own band, Dan does plenty of music and writes for others.

Back in 1991 electric weapons were used to get me to jam with some other students from the school I went to, we made and recorded some songs on my cassette player in my bedroom at home, we gave some of those songs names like “Tomorrow”(a song about school fighting), “Freak”(a laugh at me), “Pure massacre”(a song about the new local abattoirs) and “Israels son”(inspired by the religious schools we went to). The cassette we recorded them on was stolen then later those songs appeared on Silverchairs first album, I didn’t want those songs out there getting used because of the disrespectful nature of their content but children are easy like that, I’ll get back at those that made it happen if I can, electric weapons were used to make it happen, see my warning below; WARNING: ELECTRIC WEAPONS - Remote-controlled behaviour. Electric weapons are regularly used to secretly remote-control bionic brain implants that are put in people/humans including children and other fauna against their will and without them knowing it to secretly remote-control them without them knowing it, to imitate their bodys functions while deceiving them and others about it. Brain-computer interfacing technology can wirelessly connect with these bionic brain implants using satellite networks via adjacent electricity supply networks and can power these implants by wirelessly coupling with the same electricity supply networks, these electricity supply networks use a particular set of frequency ranges to conduct electricity but have a much larger capacity for frequency range therefore much of their capacity doesn’t get used so the opportunity exists for hackers to use those networks undetected. The implants are attached to the bodys brain because it is the central point of all of the bodys energy and therefore all of the bodys energy can be controlled from that point, all fauna are remote-controllable this way. These systems have biometric functions that are used for interrogating, forced integrating/interacting and other abuse, some say it is “Telepathy”(A third person extracting ones brain activity(imposed activity or not) and using it with a second person while pretending they are the one that they extracted it from) or “God” or “possessed” or “spirits” or “schizophrenia” or something like that. This technology can be managed manually or by a neuro-recognition system for pre-programmed automatic combinations of remote-controlled bionics to secretly remote-controlled purpose designed bionic thoughts, feelings, memory, speech, movement and other body functions and is combined with remote-controlled purpose designed partial or complete bionic paralysis. This technology and technique are designed to secretly remote-control people/humans including children and other fauna in a way that combined with extreme physical abuse and poisoning makes it look like they are not being remote-controlled while they are being remote-controlled, it is designed to be and it can be totally overwhelming including secretly remote-controlling breeding and/or death, it is regularly used to secretly make and sustain any measure of abnormal behaviour and abnormal situations including anything from substance abuse and carnivorous behaviour to mass shootings and wars. Technology created particularly for the purpose of secretly remote-controlling others is common among some yet secret, some people/humans that use this sort of technology use any measure of lies and violence including medical style terrorism and fraudulent policing to hide this technology and their actions from others, remote-controlled behaviour is regularly the reason given for more electric harassment. Secretly remote-controlled bionic behaviour for blame and punishment is the secret basis of coexistences and of mass movements around the world including societies, communities, families, schooling, industries, governments, militaries, carnivorous and sexual cultures, religions and more: HUMANS/PEOPLE AND OTHER FAUNA GET REMOTE CONTROLLED. There is never any information in public media news reports about electric weapons being regularly used to secretly remote-control people/humans and other fauna, there is never any suggestion of the possibility of it and that is misleading, so vast differences around the world are understandable. We should consider how electric weapons can be and are secretly used to make and sustain any measure of abnormalities, we should raise awareness of that sort of electric weapons abuse so you should consider the information in this warning and you can pass it on to everyone else. Awareness of electric weapons is essential for common safety, for all fauna to understand each other, so electric weapons do not control our lives and so all fauna know that infestation is not the only possible cause of any problems that they could have. AWARENESS OF ELECTRIC WEAPONS IS ESSENTIAL FOR COMMON SAFETY. From Stuart Michael McKinnon - 27/12/1977. Phone: +61400908677. Email: stuartmckinnon77@icloud.com

Diorama and Young Modern are very unique and intricately composed records. Yes, the music on Young Modern sounds a bit like other alternative pop/rock bands, but I think it reigns supreme to all others in that genre. I rank it up there with Bowie's dance/pop/rock albums. I find there is more elaborate orchestration and layering in Diorama and YM, in a way I have yet to hear from Coldplay. It's not really a valid comparison. I hope you can appreciate all their work someday. Peace.

I was in the military in Korea when Frogstomp came out. All I had for new music was the sampler of the top selling albums with short write-ups of the bands. I remember it said Silverchair was referred to as Nirvana in pajamas or Kindergarden. I bought the album after hearing their three 15 second samples, "Tomorrow", "Shade", and "Suicidal Dream". I liked the last two songs a lot more than the ones that they would eventually release instead, this one and Israel's Son.

DAN on M Absolutely. Foo Fighters records all sound alike to me. Maybe the band members are proficient musicians...but there’s no real emotion or depth. In there near 20 yrs as a band, there’s no legitimate evolvement. Now Silverchair??? There evolvement god smacked there fans. Some were intoxicated by suck radical changes..others not so much. Neon Ballroom is an absolute vast masterpiece. Daniel took creative control on their 3rd record (at 19!!) and ignored the warnings about the un-radio friendly content. He stuck to his guns and went all the way with the album. I’ll admit readily that NB threw me...especially because the first track “emotion sickness” Gutting. Turbulent. Majestic even. The flow of the entire album is an emotional rollercoaster. Dreamy and lush then caustic and brutal. I never tire of listening to it. It’s kind of a comfort for me. Timeless as well. Although the band was nearly instantly a massive success, they are criminally underrated. Johns vocals are the best in modern rock. The klieglight usually shined on him. Devastatingly gorgeous yet humble and unaware, shy and awkward in interviews- and magnetically charismatic on stage. The band is sorely missed since the breakup. Daniel, Ben and Chris always said that when the whole thing just wasn’t fun anymore they would stop. Integrity. Foo just seems redundant and completely uninspired to the point of being bland and they’re music forgettable. *Happy Birthday wishes to Dan who turned 39 recently. He’s going through a rough patch and I hope he knows he is loved and his music, at least for me, has saved me from my demons. Peace🦋🌈

Dan on MV You think Silverchair was better? YES my friend. My favorite band from Frogstomp to Neon ballroom. Foo sounds commercial from the beginning compared to Silverchair. Silverchair never was commercial. The proof is here i can see Foo is super known everywere. Silverchair uhh

MrCt40 What were any of the members of Silverchair doing after being the drummer for one of the most influential bands of all time (with a record that sold 30 million copies), and then being the front man for arguably the biggest band of the last 20 years? Oh, wait, they weren’t doing anything because none of them have that level of acclaim.
