I like how the Mark 6 is more focused and not as dark as the supreme.
That particular MK6 is fantastic.

I was about to post the same. So many people gush over the VI, but I rarely run across a demo of a VI that sings like that. I could listen to that tone all day.
I like that you’ve got certain licks and passages that you play on virtually all your reviews because it gives us a nice frame of reference for comparison. Really nice review man! I’m super excited about these horns. Maybe if I hit the lottery I’ll pick one up 😂😂😂 (the Supreme I mean)
Good sirvalorsax I really appreciate you playing a supreme and a mark 6 together. Now I can hear the difference. Thank you very much

Yes! New characters in the intro! ❤ I loved the Supreme I tried. I’d love to pick one up once I’m an online millionaire! 😂 Adding an edit after hearing Mk VI. Man that thing roars like a race car! The sound was just leaping out of the horn. So fleet and cheeky. Really direct. I loved it. ❤

Think I preferred the Mark VI also, but assumed the Supreme played better and that would make the difference--if I could afford either lol.

@@Sirvalorsax awww. That’ll be a cute moment. Right let’s do the math on KZread ad revenue and how many views we need to afford a Supreme…emmmm….😭
Love the "Lethal Weapon" reference, Clapton and Sandborn were a awesome sax/guitar duo in the movie soundtrack😍

Wow, I never realized it was Clapton. Ain't no missing Sanborn on that one!! 🤣
3'50" il Padrino.. great song!!
I played a Supreme for about an hour a while ago and boy did I love it. You’re experience was essentially how I felt and while the intonation was as a good as a sax can get I didn’t feel like I was losing out at all in the tonal color category. I’m currently saving for one and plan on the Supreme being my life long Alto. I really hope the Tenor is just as awesome and if so I might just have another sax to save up for.

I feel like the Supremes and Yanagisawa WO30's are family heirloom instruments.

@@Sirvalorsax oh I totally agree and while I’ll keep my YAS-62 purple logo as my backup horn once the Supreme is in hand it’s going to be my main horn for the rest of my life.
I knew the Lethal Weapon right away!

Lol
Maybe its just my 71 year old ears, but the Mark 6 just sounded far better to me as an old jazzer. The Supreme I'm sure is a great horn that sounds like so many other modern horns. I'll take the Mark 6 if nobody wants it.

I can tell you get really into it on the Supreme at around the 6 minute mark. I think you sounded killing on it! You might want to try a Yany with a solid silver body and neck and brass bell. That is what i have played for maybe 20 years. Best in tune and a great sound with flexibility. I feel you would be a very happy sax guy if you bought that Supreme. You really played some music on it spontaneously and the sound fit you perfectly. Later for the engraving-sound over bling! If I did not have my Yany, i would for at least try the Supreme.
As I get older I prefer a more robust focused sound. I am not a mark 6 guy but I preferred it. Don’t get me wrong. They both sounded amazing and beautiful. Curious to see what the neck of the supreme would sound like on the Mark six and vice versa if they would fit

Darn, I should have tried that
Another enjoyable video sounding great on both altos the Supreme was cleverly priced at the MK.6 level by Selmer imo.

I'm curious to see how the Supreme Tenor will be priced
I'm playing the same piece on bari cuz it's cheap, but the Metalite really does play well. I recognized that signature "plastic buzz" it has in the sound right away. It's not the same as metal, yet it does sizzle nicely!

I was using a Fibracell reed also but I think I'm going to move to Royals by D'Addario with the Metalite
Let me know if anyone wants to get rid of their Mk6 or SBA 🥰
I’m a complete Yanagisawa fan, I have all the 880 models from sopranino to baritone. They meet my particular needs and wants. I think the low A key work is not an insurmountable problem, you’ll get used to it.
I'd love to hear you try a Rampone & Cazzani 🎷🎶🇮🇹🍝
When are you going to have an altissimo for bari book?
for Bari, please try an Otto Link Tone Edge 8, .120" tip opening
Wich mouthpiece do you use for the Baritonsax ?
Damn you sound incredible on this horn! Is this the horn that was for sale at Quinn's a few weeks ago??
@Sirvalorsax

I don't know but I wasn't at Quinn's for this test
Surely you could have the Low A key adjusted somewhat to your liking?
To follow up, with regards to Bari, you mention a preference for a Low Bb? You've done a few Bari videos. I assume you're shopping for the right one for you so you know what you're going to get when the time is right (I spent at least 6 months myself)? I assume you're looking at Low A's despite your preference in case you find one you really like and also so that you're not excluded from paying gigs which might require it. That and having one of each is expensive.

Good Points. Keilwerth can make a low Bb as a customized order. If I find one, I'll have to try it

Any idea if there is a tenor supreme on the way? And if so, what time line is this do be expected?

I'm sure that Selmer is working on the Supreme Tenor and some Selmer loyalists have been play-testing it. I have no idea when they are actually supposed to release it. I imagine they will discontinue the Reference 36 and 54 along with the Series 3. If they don't discontinue them, I think the Supreme Tenor will easily cost $10,000... Yikes!!

Selmer will introduce the Supreme Tenor in April 2023. I know some Sax mechs who have had prototypes…
Mk6 sounds better. Bright, resonant and projecting.

MK6 has a sound that can be moulded in many directions, and its sound is spreading, enveloping, or "3-D", so to speak, with very pleasant overtones. Supreme not so much; its tone is more focused, allowing very little variation. Not so many overtones (perhaps different brass and tone hole sizes). Supreme is a saxophone tailor made for the classical genre and the newbies - it will deliver predictable results with little to no variance. Supreme is "easier" to play, but not much "fun" to play it.
€8.690,- for the Silver Supreme? (7.690,- at Thomann) Outch. I am very happy with my Yamaha YAS-855. I also own an old Silver Lignatone Bb Bari from the 1950s. Sometimes i struggle with the layout and think about getting a modern Low A. So the Yani WO1 may be it….
Supreme's got more " depth" and "presence". Bigger sound.
Mark 6's were very inconsistent when they were made, as were most instruments. The production just wasn't as refined back then. There were some good ones, and some bad ones. I had a bad one, but I did play some great ones. Something like this can be very misleading!
The Supreme sounds in a word: brittle.
