Silver Convention - Fly Robin Fly (1975) • TopPop

Музыка

Silver Convention were a West German Euro disco recording act of the 1970s. The group was originally named Silver Bird Convention or Silver Bird.
The group was formed in Munich by producers and songwriters Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze. Silver was Sylvester's nickname. In 1974 they had a hit in the UK with the song Save me. Since it was originally a studio group, from that moment on, singers were sought to perform.
Linda G. Thompson (Linda Übelherr), Penny McLean (Gertrude Wirshinger) and Ramona Wulf (Ramona Kraft) were hired. Silver Convention had two big hits in the United States; Fly, Robin, Fly, the text of which consisted of only six words, was in the top charts of the 1975 charts for three weeks and won the Grammy Award for best instrumental R&B interpretation. Successor Get up and boogie was number two for three weeks in 1976.

Here are some interesting facts about the song: "Fly Robin Fly" was a huge commercial success, reaching #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and becoming one of the biggest-selling singles of the year. It also topped charts in many other countries, including Canada, Australia, and the UK. The song features a driving disco beat, catchy melody, and memorable chorus that make it instantly recognizable to many people. The chorus, which consists of the repeated phrase "Fly, robin, fly," is one of the most memorable in disco music history. "Fly Robin Fly" was written and produced by Silvester Levay and Stephan Prager, who were also responsible for many other disco hits in the 1970s. The song was performed by three female vocalists, Penny McLean, Linda G. Thompson, and Ramona Wulf, who were members of Silver Convention. "Fly Robin Fly" helped to popularize disco music and was one of the first disco songs to achieve mainstream success. It paved the way for many other disco hits in the years that followed. The song has been covered and remixed many times over the years, and has been sampled in numerous hip-hop and dance songs, including "I Like to Move It" by Reel 2 Real and "Do It Again" by Chemical Brothers. Overall, "Fly Robin Fly" is a disco classic that helped to define the sound of the 1970s. Its infectious beat, catchy melody, and memorable chorus have made it a timeless favorite among disco fans around the world.

70 's Songs like this were recorded with analog studio equipment ,that generates a harmonic and very cohesic fat relaxing sound by his own , like someones beautiful handwriting with graceful letters .Digital is "just" a printer. The worst example of analog is a vinylrecord player withe ticks and rumble , the best example is professional tapemachine with professional Dolby A, SR /DBX noise reduction. But digital is very suitible to very precisely convert the analog source to ones and zeroes for endless conservation and endless relistening without degradation.

For some reason they played this like clockwork everyday at around 6 or 7am as it was always playing on the radio when I got up in the morning to go to school. I was in the 1st grade and I still remember it.

Girl, when this song came out in 75, I fell in love, I play it every I clean. I wasn't into Disco that much. but this was thier only big hit , you had famous people like Shannon, Donna Summer. I did happen to like the song the Hussle by Van Mccoy, it was his only hit song too ,before he passed away. I thought this was a whole group singing. love my 70s and 80s.

My heart aches for this music. When I listen to the music of the current generation and compare with that of the 70s, there is simply no comparison. I'm so glad I live in The Netherlands during this period.
