"Silver Cloud" passes through Tower Bridge - 09/06/2017

Silversea Cruises' "Silver Cloud" is in her final year working regular cruises before she is transferred over to Silversea Expeditions.
She's been a regular caller to the City of London over the years and her final visit was to be over the weekend of June 9th-11th 2017.
In this video we see her arriving in the Pool of London on Friday 9th June sailing underneath the majestic Tower Bridge and escorted by the tug "Svitzer Cecilia" before docking next to HMS "Belfast" at 15:45. She will depart at 14:30 on Sunday 11th June and will pass her sister-ship "Silver Wind" somewhere between the Thames Barrier and the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge before "Silver Wind" herself sails through Tower Bridge around two hours later.

My friend who runs a charter superyacht reckons the best comment he ever had from a guest was from a lady who said: "Even better than Silversea". I worked on the river a few hundred metres down from Tower Bridge and whenever there was a ship "going up through the bridge" everyone would be out on the pontoon to watch. I was lucky, the view from my office desk was a direct view of the bridge !

Doesn't the Silver Cloud deploy its tender when docked in London or do the passengers go through the HMS Belfast?

Looking back on this nearly a year later, I'm assuming that's probably what the tugboat was for, or to at least assist it

@@glenellis6984 Yep, it's like backing out of a parking space. :-) I went to the Tower once and the ship was docked right there. I remember wondering "how the truck is this thing going to turn around to go back?" On my way back, I watched the spectacle of tugboats taking the ship back without turning it around. Impressive!

Absolutely not. While Silverses ships are big by Thames standards, they are tiny indeed compared to Oasis-class vessels, with a displacement around one-sixth of those behemoths.

How disgusting. River ferries get in trouble sometimes on the Thames let alone cruise ships. There is enough pollution in London without the cruise ships adding to it. Also if you can hear the pre recorded music from the embankment, piped out of cheap tinny speakers, then it is too loud! I know now why the people of Venice, Majorca, Barcelona etc hate cruise ships.
