No, a wolf is pure. A wolfdog is a mix between a wolf and some other large dog like an akita, husky, or german shepherd. :)

Ouch! Nipple piercing by Luna. By appt only. Mel and Luna are so adorable. Reminds me of when I used to play and dance with my Marleigh. She passed from cancer in 2014. 2 days before my mom passed.

Luna is amazing! 😍 My parents rescued a wolf dog pup (German Shepherd mix from what we know) right before I was born. They named him Rocky. He was my best friend growing up❤️. He hated literally every single person who didn’t live in our house with a passion. Everyone in our neighborhood was terrified of him. To us he was the sweetest😊

When I was younger my parents bought a German bred german shepherd. You know, the real ones. .... he used to attack me all the time and I would hide on top of the couch so he couldn't get at me. Eventually they had to give him away because he was destroying everything and attacking everyone but I loved him so much. His name was Trovão which means Thunder in Portuguese. I'll tell you man... he was definitely a storm to be reckoned with. He even dragged me through rocks for like 15ft once chasing ducks after a hurricane... I didn't want to let go but eventually had to and had to chase him into a lake all bloody... friggen A! That dog was a DICK. I sure do hope he was cared for properly. I cried for like a month when I found out they gave him away. I kept asking for permission to take him as my own so I could train him and care for him but they just got rid of him instead unfortunately.

Mel is wonderful. I wish I had a friend like her.

That's Melissa, Dro's girlfriend, and just like a regular dog it's just play biting. Obviously the wolfdog has more force than regular dog's and unintentionally hurts when play biting. It still hurts when my dogs play bite me. Melissa is perfectly fine and they love Luna, the wolfdog.

Start watching the vid and before I know it I'm smiling and laughing :)

I wish I could get a wolfdog but I don't have the living conditions or the money and time to care for it like I should and that makes me sad!

it's kinda funny because my dog has the same exact behavior and she kinda looks like that with the tail and ears especially and we play rough with her and it's all that. the difference is, is that she's /much/smaller but her bites do hurt alot. we're still having trouble with what breed she is

I love puppy chihuahua. Also, I had 2 Labs and big yard & cat. Am 72 now.

This was a nice video :). I have a question. Why would you have a wolf dog and a cat together when they seem not to get along? It was scary to see them together. I know most dogs can live with cats but wolf dogs are way different than regular dogs. Just curious.

Luna and Falcore actually really love each other. Sometimes Luna gets a little rough with him but I'm always there to step in. She likes to test them like a brother and sister tease each other and if it ever gets out of hand, i correct her immediately. Falcore actually comes up to HER all the time and he's the one who tries to get her attention. sometimes I will see her love nipping at him and as long as he's ok with it, I allow it to happen. There's no issue with them getting along together so long as we are there to break things up when it gets too crazy but I never leave Luna alone with any other animal. This is why we crate trained her from an early age, when we have to go out somewhere that we cannot take her, she will hang out in her large kennel and sleep until we get back. This way she can't get into any trouble while we are not around.

I had an Akita. My dr.'s daughter in AZ brought home wolf they let igo as it aged.

sometimes it look like her eyes light up. Is this a wolf-dog thing or just reflection from the camera?? :)

yes, Wolfdogs also have the Tapetum lucidum like cats do. Also, another fun fact, the color that is reflected from the TL tissue changes colors depending on the color of the animals' eyes. For example, some cats may show up with red-eye in a photo taken using a flash, but some cats that have blue eyes may show green, white, or other colors in the reflection.

My best friend recently got a wolf dog (hes about a year old) and we are trying to get him to stop going after our legs do you have any suggestions? I know hes just playing but i dont want it to become a habit.

It's their nature and.mine does it all the time. When you run, thenwolf in them wants to hamstring you but the dog says no and it's a contest between the two. It's not meant to harm you the dog says in the and you can diminish it to some degree. It will take.some.aversion training. Pop them in the butt with some rolled up newspaper so that the newspaper makes a popping sound as you slap their butts. But they are part wolf and.its in their natilure,.good luck and enjoy your animal. They are God's gift to us!.

Ask him to sit and treat him for sitting and laying down instead, don’t play with him if he bites (I mean hard if it’s just mouthing it’s fine) I recommend a bunch of Zak George videos on puppy training!

+itsMeYourBoi yes, they are not allowed to play, if Luna steps on him by accident he would get hurt. He's about the size of a large rat, 3 to 4lbs total at his heaviest.

Shealyn Watts Common goldfish such as those grow up to a foot long and are usually best suited for 300 gallon+ ponds (sometimes tanks) because they are actually incredibly dirty! It's a sad but common misconception that they can be kept in tiny spaces, but it's the truth. I'm sure they're doing what they think is good though and they take care of all their other animals amazingly, I have nothing against them! :)

Fellica Sutton Well, I don't necessarily agree with that since fish have very different anatomy and habitat and they take a lot of care, and goldfish quickly get stunted growth from spaces too small, but again not everyone knows how to take care of fish and I don't blame them for believing the common misconceptions as most people do :)

I myself have a husky/malamute cross, looking at the behaviour in your vids, they seem very similar.

+Thomas Rorstad yes, that is because many wolfdogs are a result of malamutes and Huskies being bred with wolves. Luna also has GSD which is why you see those features being prominent as well. The difference is with a husky or Malamute, you can eventually train to be left alone in your home. With wolfdogs mid to high Content, you never really can. Luna can go from being this playful dog you see in this video to a wild animal really quick and most people wouldn't know how to properly deal with those mannerisms.

The Dro our husky (Miika) can have snappy and aggressive moments on occasion, we usually either use growls and vocal question, or if it's worse we resort to a combination of the above with pinning via scruff and side of face, along with side of hip/stomach. these occurrences are rare however! I can't see myself and my partner having enough space or time for a wolf hybrid any time soon. admittedly I'd love to interact with a timber wolf at some point, possibly a whole pack!

The Dro indeed haha, interestingly, she's mostly bonded with my partner, whom can do pretty much anything to her. Miika is somewhat less tolerant of me but she understands the hierarchy if that makes sense? my family always had Labradors but my mother now has a black lab cross shepherd. and I agree, the more intelligent they are, the more challenging! I'd say my mums dog is more intelligent than Miika (in the sense of problem solving), whereas Miika is more "emotionally" or socially intelligent.

Would love a wolf dog or 2 but they are just too active for me right now.

I have a husky/beagle mix, supposedly the momma dog (husky) has some wolf mix, my dog is as big and lanky as ur wolf dog and has the same characteristics as urs as well. however she may just be a husky lol

Caily P if it looks like a husky it usually is. however, huskies retain a lot of wolfdog mannerisms and luna does have some husky or mal in her line from way back when. huskies, malamutes and gsds are closest to wolves still so youll see a lot of similar behaviors. the difference is wolfdogs are way more stubborn and "wild" in comparison in most situations. they can also problem solve quicker which gets dangerous.

That is very true, do huskies have stubbornness? because mine sure has it. I've taken Hoku (my husky mix) to training classes and they always end in failure. I wouldn't trade her for anything tho, love her to pieces! You're wolf dog is beautiful!

Via Bird species and ferrets, be careful! Cockatoos can be a handful and very loud and ferrets need a very large area to explore, they're both highly intelligent animals even though small.
