Hi Kellie, I feel like I saw somewhere to use corn starch instead of baby powder. I think that helps with the shiny. The babies are precious. I have a few reborn dolls, but none are silicone. Thanks for the video.

I own silicone dolls and some of mine are customs, so they are matted to stay silky smooth. I also own a couple from Temu, Amazon and Ebay. As soon as I received those babies, I gave them a bath. After drying completely, I powdered them with Silicone Velvet. It is the best for silicones.

I bought my first full silicone doll (22” & 11 lbs) on Temu that cost me almost $400.00 (yes, on Temu), and she’s absolutely beautiful. Mine isn’t shiny and I’m new to the hobby so I can’t recommend anything for shine other than corn starch baby powder.

Yes they have what looks to be a seam going down the back. I haven’t noticed any lines or seams on the arms and legs though.

Hi Kim. It’s from TEMU. I think it is a china based company but I heard they are opening up warehouses in the US. As for copyright, I have no idea about that. I am not a doll collector. I just saw it on TEMU and thought it was super cute 🥰

U cant figure out how to remove the shine? Literally every silicone video ever shows people using a makeup brush and coen starch or baby powder to make them less shiny....ir silicone velvet is even better. Its pretty common for even expensive high end ones to get sticky and shiny....

@@kelliesunboxingaddictionactually, try painting it, and then sealing it with a matte varnish that’s silicon safe. i’m not sure where to get any, but this is how i fixed a vinyl doll of mine that was shiny. i assume a couple layers of mottling, some veins painted on, and a nice matte varnish would make it 100% more real.

To get rid of the shine you'll want to go to McPherson's arts and crafts or bountiful baby and you'll want to get some silicone matting powder..... Don't use baby powder or anything else it will destroy the silicone AND NEVER NEVER BATHE THE SILICONE.... YOU WILL DESTROY THE PAINT JOB Artist here.❤

Temu is not a scam site. If the customer is not satisfied or item is not delivered, they will give a refund. Not everyone can afford a reborn doll and some refuse to pay the price asked for them. I have ordered alot of orders from them and have never had an issue.

I think it feels like a less expensive way to enjoy an expensive hobby. The reason the dolls are expensive is because a real reborn artists will never buy a knock off sculpt, they pay hundreds of dollars for sculpts from the actual sculptor, these are most times signed, numbered, limited editions. We support their work, they work hard, it takes hundreds of hours to sculpt these babies. Real reborn artists paint with translucent paint, up to and sometimes more than 20 layers, baking between every layer, we root every eyelash, we paint and root hair one at a time. We fill your baby with premium glass, weighting it perfectly. Silicone kits cost us sometimes over a 1000.00 dollars because artists are pouring them, trimming and cleaning them (you will never find a big donut hole on the top of a babies head). Artists molds will only pour a limited number of silicone babies before they degrade. What you have a is a knock-off, not only a knock off but a stolen sculpt that was turned into a silicone baby. That company in China that made that for you at a low cost doesn't care about artists, sculptors, painters, or the women who work really hard at this craft to bring you a one of kind beautiful art doll. They don't care about safety, they don't care that they are breaking laws, they don't care that the women who counted on this as an income are now out of jobs. Many great artists who have been doing this for 20 years have left. I think the hobby will survive on smaller scale, collectors who appreciate these babies, collectors who actually cherish these dolls and use them for therapy, collectors who have created a community around this art form will still appreciate and buy them. The problem is these knock offs erode trust, they are hurting artists who don't have the funds to fight for their intellectual property rights, people who are buying them and giving knock off companies free advertising are making this cheap fake reborn the "norm" and You Tube will be oversaturated with videos trying to recapture a moment that has long past. These babies were exciting and fun, they were unique and well loved, now we have the cheap babies that are just another object at the bottom of someones toy box. Real reborns are precious because real artists, the ones who have worked hard for years developing relationships, honing skills, and creating works of art put a lot of love into what they do. As a country we like things fast and cheap, disposable, we have attention spans of fruit flies. These knock off companies are just turning something precious into something common, in the process hurting a lot of hard working people. Its theft. This is not meant to hurt you as a person. Most people don't understand why there is so much frustration and and actual damage done by purchasing and promoting these babies, and not just babies but all the knock-off products we purchase from sunglasses to tech. It hurts the small artist without a corporate lawyer trying to bring something beautiful into the world. There is nothing created that doesn't have an artist involved, from toasters to cars, we bring the beauty.

There will always be a knockoff for everything made in the world. As a Parent of an autistic child. I have paid thousands of dollars on therapy. Spent hours on hours comforting me adult daughter who will never get an opportunity to be a Parent. I cannot afford to pay $$$$ on a real reborn. I just don't have that money. The collectors will always collect the real thing and display them. My Daughter wants desperately to be a parent but she cannot look after one. There is room for everyone. I will be buying her a kick-off for a few hundred dollars.

If you are buying a knock off bag from the trunk of someones car and you are ok with that, none of my business, you know what you are getting and he is doing it out of the back of his trunk for a reason. But what if you paid 100 more because he told you it was the real thing, and you found out it wasn't? What if you designed something that you were proud of, that you worked hard on, that you invested you time and savings into and brought it to market only to have Temu replicate it over night and call it the same thing and have no consequences and you have no repercussions? What if people went online and said, This is just as good as the real thing, don't waste your money... Now your intellectual property, your time, your investment, your hardworking and your paycheck is gone. There will always be knock offs, there will always be scammers and thief's, there will always be people out to make a fast dollar. It doesn't make it right.

Cheaply made and bad quality, you really get what you pay for. If you want the best, its better to save....
