How exactly can someone get fired from his own company? Can someome explain that to me, please?
@aratyal
6 жыл бұрын
edmis90 there's a board of directors/major shareholders they can have a meeting of no confidence against the ceo and vote him out. They can hold an emergency meeting to vote him out. Where the majority of shareholders need to turn up. Anything anove 50 percent even 51 percent. And they can vote him out without him having to be there. Simple Majority against the minority.
@edmis90
6 жыл бұрын
But aren't they HIS workers because it's HIS company? This is honestly beyond me to comprehend as to how is that logical. :(
@aratyal
6 жыл бұрын
edmis90 when he founded hooli lets say he had 100% in order to get funding and scale hes had to sell shares. So lets say there's 8 board members all with 7% percent in hooli shares. Equaling 56 percent overall and gavin belson owns 44 percent. He still owns the most sole shares. But if they were to gang up they would own the majority and its there choice. If they dont gang up and they look out for their independent interests gavin influences the board with his sole 44% all he needs is one more person to get to 51% and do what he wants. They in no means work for him. They own stake in his company and its gavins job to give them a return on their investment. And even with just 44 percent he owns the majority of sole shares so own the company
@aratyal
6 жыл бұрын
edmis90 also lets say gavin doesnt give them what he wants. They then can threaten to sell their stock which will look like insider trading (dumping of stock that makes it seem lile the conpanies in crisis)causing hooli stock to crash and theyre monetary worth to lessen

And how he usually surrounds himself with lickspittles and yes men, but here he’s isolated and alone cuz they wisely cut ties with him. Even Denpok.
Gotta love how Gavin is such a sociopath that he has to narrate his emotions due to inability to express them correctly.
Stephen Tobolowsky‘s Jack Barker is such a great portrait. I know a dozen guys just like him in the corporate world.
I wouldn't have gone into that room. I would have just left. Can't get fired if they can't deliver the news to you!

yeah, no, they aren't process servers...
And there was nothing that he could do about it. Barker was an action man, and Gavin wasn’t. And he had to sit still and take it. It was among the CEOs. It was real Valley shit. They even closed the doors on Gavin, so he couldn’t walk away from it all.

We had a problem. And there was nuttin we could do about it.
One company I worked for had an office which was referred to as "the departure lounge". People knew if they got moved there what the next step was. That was back in the day when there actually were offices... You know, with doors and stuff
This is why is *always* need to find the skeletons in your Board member's closet quickly. That way, this situation would have never happened.

Lol any skeletons he could’ve found would’ve been minuscule in comparison to what Gavin did.
this feels a bit like the scene in Goodfellas where Joe Pesci gets whacked... "Oh no..."
What is the name of the music?
How many times has he been fired now
Say, that's Ned from Groundhog Day. Who knew he would rise from annoying insurance salesman to the vicious head of a high-tech corporation?
and consider that what happened to Sam Altman is this on steroids because Greg got the knife too
What`s the song playing at 1:00?
When Jack Barker is walking his arms look sooo long
What is the song that plays at the end of this scene?
Ned Ryerson taking a huge step from a modest insurance salesman to huge tech firm corporate leadership. Bing again!

Groundhog day? Omg he is too!
Gavin's facial expression at the very end is like the expression you would have when you as a child did something wrong, and your parents knew everything. You just feel that pressure with your parents' stare at you.
something was creeping me out about barker and i just realized what it was. He doesn't swing his arms when he walks. the only motion they get is from the motion of his torso 0:28-0:35
I still love Gavin
Amazing that you need a card to enter the room but that one inch gap in the door lets anyone outside know what's being said in the room.

There is a university students union at Hooli?

The thing I noticed, door lock is high tec but the door is traditional
Are they at the University student union or at Hooli headquarters
You know its bad when everybody in the room is wearing executioners face
Watch out for that first step Gavin, it’s a doozie
"University Study Union"? What is it at the company campus?
0:11 The student union is not covered
0:11 - University Student Union (Edit: was watching this episode on MAX today… they edited that out!)

I just learned the guy who plays Jack.. is the same guy who plays Ned in Groundhogs Day selling life insurance..! wow wow wow
This is how the twitter CEO must be feeling right now...
Gavin gets fired. Doesn't show the scene where he gets fired. Great clip
I'm so sad the scene doesn't end up with "Gentlemen, and lady, of the board.."
0:08 What in gods name are they riding in the background?
@0:12 I thought this was a David Lynch dream because I noticed the guy in the background was riding a bicycle backwards... then I noticed it was some new type of bike.

idk if the actual fine of 16k is real but it should be capped like i get there should be online protection for kids but shouldn't it be 16k each user then say 500 each chat instead of 16k each chat lmao

Coppa fines are billions? And all that's required to negate it was a simple terms of service agreement? Man. Legal shit is confusing. Feels like you'd need to hire at least 1 lawyer if you ever wanna start any sort of business just to make sure you're not violating anything even if you aren't trying to.

They already established it was $21 billion in the last episode due to users/use. And Dinesh admitted he was lazy with the terms of service.
How exactly can someone get fired from his own company? Can someome explain that to me, please?
@aratyal

edmis90 there's a board of directors/major shareholders they can have a meeting of no confidence against the ceo and vote him out. They can hold an emergency meeting to vote him out. Where the majority of shareholders need to turn up. Anything anove 50 percent even 51 percent. And they can vote him out without him having to be there. Simple Majority against the minority.
@edmis90
6 жыл бұрын
But aren't they HIS workers because it's HIS company? This is honestly beyond me to comprehend as to how is that logical. :(
@aratyal
6 жыл бұрын
edmis90 when he founded hooli lets say he had 100% in order to get funding and scale hes had to sell shares.
@aratyal
6 жыл бұрын
edmis90 also lets say gavin doesnt give them what he wants. They then can threaten to sell their stock which will look like insider trading (dumping of stock that makes it seem lile the conpanies in crisis)causing hooli stock to crash and theyre monetary worth to lessen
