Silent Raiders (1954) WWII Full Action Movie | G.I.'s vs. Nazi snipers

Ойын-сауық

Their assignment amounted to "kill or be killed": During World War II, just prior to D-Day, a seven-man arrives on the French coast with orders to help wipe out a German communications center three miles inland. There's suspense in the Steel Helmet tradition as the men attempt to hold the captured building against the enemy and their snipers.

It seems more of a spoof on commandos. These guys were undisciplined and several were preoccupied and not focused like you would expect of a commando group.

Thank you, I have never been into the military, I'm pushing 70 and so glad I never was called to do it, I know deep in my heart and freely admitted I could never be like a lot of the heroes you hear about in those true stories that they put on it like from soldiers diaries, I know in my heart that I would be like these guys, they seem like they're just stupid and praying to get killed, whoever directed this film has been as close to the war as I have and I will have not even been in a boy scout troop,,ha

This is the most undisciplined group of soldiers I have ever seen. Definitely not a trained team. It’s a wonder they did’nt all get killed in the first 5 minutes after getting ashore. One grenade would have wiped them out on their food break. Also , too much talk, for a secret mission.

Plus briefing in the dinghy, why not do it in the comfort of the submarine, nice quiet location ,everyone can hear, you can do a question and answer session to make sure everyone has the plan down tight, and every one can get a good look at the map, that's the first 7 minutes of the movie, time to not bother.

At the very start @ 1:55 I can already see that this film is going to fall short on technical details, for example, not one man in the raft wearing cam cream and the Lt with his rank insignia glinting away on his shirt collar like a lighthouse on a moonless night. Just hope the storyline and acting are better. OMG, this is probably the most ill-disciplined bunch of commands ever portrayed on film, not even the basic technical knowledge and considering when this film was made quite a few of them probably fought in WWII/Korea, and you don’t forget what you learned that quickly. I have been out the military since 2003 and I have probably forgotten more about the things I learnt than these guys as a whole do know. ROFLMAO, @ 13:08 best line yet “watch out for barbed wire fence, we don’t want to puncture the boat” how many barbed wire fences do you usually find in a river/creek????. Ooh look 👀 there’s one, about another 1/2 mile upstream, would never have seen it because of the superb camouflage 😅. Oh they were doing so well, paddling along in broad daylight without a care in the world, but all of a sudden Jack falls and might have drowned in the 12 inches of water, best someone shout loudly to save him, oh boy, this film will take an eternity to watch and even longer for viewers to read my critique, perhaps I should have written about the good bits, but that wouldn’t have been fun for me and an very short comment for you to read. Let’s see, @ 18:04 Pepe uses initiative and takes out German guard whilst the rest face in the opposite direction from where the German was, and all he got was “what you doing over there without your helmet” what was he supposed to do? tell the German to wait until he put his helmet on, lol, it’s too funny. and whoever said it, referring to Pepe “I hope he’s not over there by those German trucks”, WHAT German trucks? When the got out the raft they were facing a huge hill and if the trucks were on the opposite side then why weren’t they facing in that direction?. 😂 Sorry, rewind slightly, you have to wonder what the Lt learned at OCS, Pepe gives him a perfectly reasonable response to the helmet debacle “I thought it would get in the way” how very true Pepe, especially as in most war films featuring the United States military in WWII they hardly ever wear the chin strap, easy for it to fall off, and poor old Pepe, having saved their bacon gets “well put it on”, no wonder the Lt was sent to OCS as a buck private, he must have shown the aptitude all officers need………STUPIDITY. Ok, my apologies to the Lt, it was the 1st Sergeant that made the stupid comment, perhaps he failed OCS for being not STUPID enough. Ok, missed the bit where the Lt got hit, well I didn’t really I just wanted to criticise him, but, how can he have done the voiceover at the start if he was dead, the film was obviously made in retrospect. Ok, now I am really confused, why put the Lts body in the water where any passing German could see it, in the brush, hidden, would be the only way to do it, and the 1st Sergeant abdicating command to the buck sergeant must be considered, at least in my experience of military law, dereliction of duty/command in the face of the enemy, a courts martial offence, and in time of war punishable by death. There have been 2-3 the “chief” has been ribbed about not talking, that is another thing that would never happen, especially in a small team situation, how can you build up team spirit and cohesion without getting to know someone, you need respect, understanding, confidence and definitely communication, without communication none of those things can be achieved, it is plainly a ridiculous element in the whole ridiculous film. Sorry, I have to bang out, I have got to 24:02 and can’t take anymore of it, I sincerely hope that they didn’t use a “military advisor” because they either didn’t get what they paid for or they completely ignored him, and I say “him” because women didn’t have combat experience back then. I have to give this 10/10 thumbs down for the film, but it should not reflect badly on the channels owner so it gets a thank you for posting, not everyone will dislike it.

Why dump the Lieutenant's body in the water? So the Germans could spot him and wonder where he came from, giving away their mission?

Even for 1954 this was bad on so many levels.. Super small budget or no knowledge of WWII weapons.only a sniper used an 1903 Springfield in 1944.. Even the Marines all had M1's by then..And the night before the landings thousands of paratrooper were dropped inland of the invasion beaches..

This movie was about the 1942 raid on Dieppe. It was carried out by Canadian commandos and American rangers. It was a poorly planned and executed raid. It turned out to be a total disaster with most either killed or captured.

Even at 1080p the image is blurry. Is KZread decreasing video quality to motive viewers to purchase the "premium" quality?

I checked it on my PC and it seemed okay. If you get a chance, please try it again and let me know if it improved. Many thanks for taking the time to write, and watch one of our movies. So far, I've heard nothing about KZread decreasing quality to motivate viewers to purchase Premium. Thanks again.

I was a real Marine Raider / scout swimmer with 3rd Battalion 4th Marines during my 1st tour in Vietnam. This movie is a dud from start to finish. These "silent Raiders" should be called silly Raiders! They don't know the 1st thing about noise discipline. Talking bull$#¡+ all through their mission. The Writer and Director of this flick should be Court- Martialed.

First, thank you for your service (from a Navy vet). This movie is so inept that I found it enjoyable watching the whole thing, just to be able to pick it apart! I spoke to the producer/star many years ago;he said they had absolutely no budget to produce the thing. I'm sure, however, he could have found a Marine to make certain the movie was half-way accurate.

What a mob of inept soldiers! This movie made so many wartime mistakes that it was hard to watch. The only real part in this movie was the goat. But talking about the goat, even that was totally wrong, as tying it up would only warn the Nazis that there was someone around. I just hoped it would get better as time went on. Unfortunately, it only got worse. I wouldn't even rate it a 'B' movie.

Yes, completely absurd from a military standpoint, BUT if you found it entertaining to pick out the many mistakes, then it was 80 minutes well spent!
