Enemy planes sure are dangerous in any Silent Hunter game. I would save the game if I made the decision to try and gun them down instead of doing an emergency dive.

Your anti aircraft gunner left the silent service and enlisted in the Army Air Force. Last we heard he was a B17 tail gunner in the Mighty 8tth

USS Salmon was the lead ship of the Salmon class. So this means you are the very first commander to command such a class during the war.

Salmon might have been the lead ship of the class, but she wasn't the first into service. Even then, she was in commission for over 3 years before the war started.

@@fernandomarques5166 In that sense yes. Thats why they're called the New S Class. But they also aren't rolling off the production line. They've all been built by this point and have some miles on them. They're old compared to the Gatos which are still being built and especially compared to the Balao, which must be in the design phase I think.

Strange patrol. Commandos, Kamikaze - everything is burning. The fighter's bullets make a sieve of the ship, but no crew member is even scratched.

Love the series. Just an observation, from your exterior shots, it seems like your Air Search radar mast isn't extended fully. Could be why you keep getting jumped.

If the ship had no armament you should have used the deck gun from the start to save torpedoes, great vid as usual regardless

Methinks you need to send that watch crew to SpecSavers, Taff; either that or have them registered "blind", because you don't seem to get adequate call-outs of which quarter the enemy aircraft are coming from! 🤔

Taff, best instruct your AAA gunner to reload with a full magazine following every engagement. Also, always hold fire until you see the whites of their eyes - firing at a distant smoker is a waste of ammo. Max effective range of a 20mm is around 1,000 - 1,600 yards.

Fantastic episode taff, two more great merchant ships added to the belt of trophies, and of course a sampan sail boat.. that's a great day of work indeed. The IJA will suffer in regards of their logistics with that, their invasions and military operations will be hampered indeed, might not be stopped fully but they will be damaged to some degree, their sampan boats destroyed will damage their pickets and early warning system. Looks like the enemy is getting their fingers out with their aircraft, don't make any mistake about it.. they'll do what they can to sink you. Kamikaze attacks into the water at this point in the war might be down to desperation, or the AI is a bit off. Either way look out for more aircraft, they'll be scouring the sea for you, no doubt about it. Great episode taff, keep up this epic series, love it and well done mate 👍

It is better to survive a war with very little merit to tell about to your grandchildren than to go to your grave (which will possibly be on the bottom of the sea) with CMOH and not get to see your children, wife, grandchildren etc ever again.

Maneuver kill on 2 fighters. Taffs skills are beyond comprehension

I like how you keep the deck gun astern. O'Kane said it makes the most sense. If I may ask, Why do you keep being jumped by enemy aircraft? Is your SD radar broken? The P-class is awesome.

4:25 The pilots were overly excited about finding and attacking an American sub in the open. They had already scored solid hits and were going in to scrape the crew off the top. Unfortunately, the pilots were new and inexperienced, and weren't paying close enough attention to their airspeed and altitude during their last attack run.

He sure desperately needs the best radar equipment possible because his bridge crew is atrociously incompetent.

They need a more realistic Zero mod. No Zero could tank that much damage and keep flying. I was my understanding that as soon as a Zeke caught fire, it went up like kindling.

Spotter crew is not doing their job in air search. Also think you are not running your radar or have it set to air search.

Gaahhhhh I completely forgot about getting promoted to a new sub, reinstalling. gotta play again, and that AA gun is amazing, is that a mod?

You Loaded an Underwater save, the fins do that if your not surfaced for a save game. its a very old Bug

You shot down a Ki-44, a G4M and 3 A6Ms not counting the ones that crashed

Weird. All you needed in SH3 to get credit for a kill was just make sure one of your 20mm ammunition hit them and that it was destroyed (for any reason) after that.

Not really 2 pilots during the surprise Pearl Harbor also crashed into 2 hangars at Ford Island and I think Wheeler field during that operation and there was more than a few reports coming out of China of damaged light bomber and fighters doing the same if they knew that couldn't make it back to at least friendly lines.

Taff knows that radar can be tracked, right?

I know it's a simulation ...but never say "Fire" aboard a sub....it would cause a panic....finding and extinguishing the fire would take priority over all other operations ....its Launch , or Tube 1 and 3 away etc.etc.

Actually, the US Navy in WW2 did say "Fire". The Royal Navy were sensible enough to say "Shoot" instead. And the Kreigsmarine would say "Loose" (as in set the torpedo loose on the enemy) - that's "Los" in German obviously.
