this format can work, the Ben Drowned sequel did this exact thing back in 2020 but just had the community vote on the decisions. meanwhile konami monetizes this and puts a battle pass lol

Just downloaded it today just to take a look and ... even the actual "movie" quality is absolutely terrible. It just felt so incoherent and cheap, like some fanmade animations where halfway through they remember "Oh yeah, silent hill horror stuff" and suddenly monsters... Watched a few of the first "episodes" and felt like tuning out. Also how they hyped up how you can get yourself or your character to appear in the series is pretty hilarious as the "character creation" is about the worst it can be. 8 faces that are most very similar to one another, 4 or 5 hairs that are color + style all in the same thing, a few pieces of clothing... Sims 2 characters look better. What is their budget I wonder, as the production quality is waaay worse than I thought it would be when I thought "I'll at least check it out before I judge it"

this is great. when i think of silent hill the first things i think of are online community, live comments, voting, earning EXP rewards and achievements, match-3 puzzles, quicktime events, quibi webisodes on a convenient mobile app, online sweepstakes, kickstarter-style community cameos, season passes with fun cosmetics, daily login bonuses, alternative monetization streams, and totally gnarly edgy monsters giving a real fright to people “and their children” in response to guilt or even “recent murders”. round of applause - i can’t believe these guys waltzed in and just got silent hill COMPLETELY RIGHT, first try

This is conceptually and spiritually repellent.

The truest form of psychological horror is thinking about how Konami has managed to license out the Silent Hill IP to a company that has actual people working for years (okay, based on the footage it was months most likely) in order to produce this horrible abomination. This truly seems like something that should have never came into existence and now that it exists the doomsday clock has moved forward with a full minute. If this gets a second season we'll be at Defcon 1.

@@signusthewizard9847 Whether or not this succeeds Now I think this is ahead of its time. This is literally what I wanted though not in this way. You have few movies that has done this "interactive movie thing" Last one I remembered is final destination 5. This game is essentially like watching a streamer BUT without the streamer there if they were playing games like man of Medan or the quarry. I also think it wont succeed because I do think its preset outcomes with preset decisions UNLESS they are using AI to run it then it might get and stay interesting.

I wouldn't really even mind the idea itself, if it was done well, but it certainly isn't. The production quality is quite honestly terrible. It feels cheap and like it's just riding with the Silent Hill name so they slapped some "monsters" on their poorly slapped together premise of a "story". If this was some well animated thing that started with maybe like a 30 minute movie to give us an interesting premise and characters and then allowed interaction after that with future episodes, sure, I'd be down, but having downloaded it today and having watched things "so far" I don't understand really anything about... anything, the whole thing looks amateurish and I'm supposed to want to try and choose some characters I don't yet even know a single thing about? The whole thing is honestly baffling...

They could've just called this "Boo! Haunted House: Ascension" and it would've been the same.

So it seems Silent Hill nowadays is just being used as an interchangeable front of "anything goes" generic horror. Deep character studies, enigmatic lore based on the history of the town, its people surrounding it, unfathomable unearthly forces and beings born from said forces? Who needs all that when you can have: Season pass, cosmetics, monetization, all staples of Silent Hill, right?

As a hardcore SH fan, with each new video of "this", my puke pile gets larger. Vote with your wallets fellows! It's time to end this.

I was interested in this but their own pitch has got me saying "count me out." I genuinely hope that whomever does play this gets as much enjoyment out of it as they can.

This should just be a playable game with a modest price tag. I have responsibilities that will prevent me from participating in the live events which just seems like someone else playing the game for us. It's such a bizarre move, even beyond all the obvious things with it just not fitting Silent Hill or the genre at all. The world isn't like it was 20 years ago, by that I mean, most people watch their TV shows (if they watch any at all) when they want to watch them via streaming service, not at a scheduled time like we did in the past.

I am so glad I'm not a Silent Hill fan. I don't think I've ever been insulted this badly by a favored franchise and I'm a Mega Man fan.

yeah seriously! It'd be one thing if it premiered late at night like this for the Halloween premiere, but then it should be earlier. You can tell they prioritized the west coast because they wanted it to play after work for California people (it starts at 6PM for west coast Americans). Bringing it any earlier than that would have made Californias miss it due to still being at work or driving home during each live event. But in doing so they made it inaccessible to everyone outside of the US who isn't nocturnal
