The police SHOULD be at least as concerned with the rights of any person in public , and in a public place , especially when it is obvious that no crime is being committed . It appears that our NZ police are more concerned at being THE FEELINGS POLICE instead of following the laws of the land. A trained police person should not act on anyone's feelings as the actual evidence can only be used in law , as I am sure any judge would tell them. Clearly the training of our police is lacking or the quality of the applicants is too low for consideration as a serving police person and should be addressed as soon as possible. This incident could have blown up out of all proportion had the camera person not kept his/her professional position, but he./she did .The police person had no need to make suggestions to the camera person, he /she was within his rights ( something the police person should have known anyway. ) The wearing of face coverings was mandatory for all just a few months ago so for anyone to suggest that they are now scary is more of a boo hoo moment of someone who is probably very insecure in themselves. Our police must be trained to follow the laws of our land at all times and to leave their personal feelings at home where they belong.

That white shirt man is extremely aggressive. He's really getting in your face, getting up close and waving his hands in your face. In New Zealand, people are allowed to video events. If he wants to move to this country, he needs to learn to respect others in public. As a female, I feel afraid knowing there are foreign men this aggressive just approaching people and going on an aggressive rant filled with insults.

Eid is a family-oriented community event. In light of recent safety concerns and today's tense atmosphere, seeing an someone who is masked and not from the community..taking photos or filming can feel particularly intrusive and unsettling, regardless if it's lawful. This behavior may appear creepy and antagonistic to attendees.............how about how they feel seeing random man recording them for more than an hour......how do you "as a female" would feel if a man was staring at you silently?.....

A note to any minority group that attracts one of these guys. The best thing you can to do is to assign a person or two to take pictures of him and follow him for the rest of the day. Take note of his license plate number, follow him on the bus if he gets on one etc. Observe him going home and note the address. Once you have all this information publish in your community newspapers or flyers and whatnot so that people know to look out and avoid danger. Also of course inform other minority communities because people like this will not limit their actions towards just one minority. All of this is perfectly legal and you won't be breaking any laws and you'll be keeping your community and other communities safe.

What you've just described is stalking lmao.. it is a crime to stalk people and publish their home address in public forums. Please educate yourself. This person hasn't done anything illegal.

@@baz2952 It's not a crime to be on the same bus as a creep, it's not illegal to drive on the same road as a creep, it's not illegal to walk down the same street as a creep. What I described is no more illegal than what this creep is doing and I would argue more justified. If he has done nothing illegal he should have no objections to people publishing his licence plate number and address both of which are public information.

@@colinsmith2005 It is the same though. This guy followed the muslims to a community event and filmed them. He then published the film so his community (you guys in this case) could view the location and the identity of the muslims there. There is no difference whatsoever.

Congratulations, you proved his point. You're going up to Muslims during their religious holiday and throwing a camera in their face (rather than from a distance) and trying to start something. You just proved you had an ulterior motive. I'm glad you at least recorded the guy calling out your childish behaviour.
