    I got the Carista, yay! I too found the ignition warning sound especially annoying and the last straw was when it woke up our sleeping grandchild and we panicked to close the passenger door & it still dinged as we tried to figure out what was going on. It is very easy to use and I also got to update the min speed for when the auto head light function functioned. I did i not realise it was only working when I was driving above 58Km/h, so that's now reduced to a more useful speed when driving on rural B roads. Thanks for these informative videos.

    Just got mine and switched off the dings. The option to flip the mirrors when you lock is now enabled in the standard app so that works perfectly too. Great tool - you have to "pay" in advance with the app just need to remember to cancel in a month but if there are new features or the reset during service will likely need to use again anyway.

    The DPF regen level is 30 grams of soot in my T6.1 beach, after a pair of weeks monitoring DPF via VAGDPF Android app and Carista adapter. When soot level reaches 30 grams, if the oil, cooler and exhaust gas temperatures are over the required ones, the regen starts immediately, and lasts 15-20 minutes.

  • @CampervanTime

    The light comes on on the dashboard when the DPF needs to regen but for whatever reason it hasn't been able to do it itself during normal driving/operation, like lots and lots of short journeys for example. I think it also turns from amber to red when it needs a forced regen by a dealer (or Carista possibly). Amber just means go for a long drive at steady speed etc and it will clear itself.

    Been tempted by this in the past Will - And more so after the DPF videos. I'd like to have the remote single button press unlock all the doors. I find the double press a faff. Would you change anything that would be obvious to the dealer, whilst in warranty?

    It’s that key thing something that is in the car menus anyway? I thought it was? Anyway, re warranty, I have had a good conversation with our friendly VW master tech about that and simple bits of coding like this he assures me fine, because they won’t cause failure of a component. If you did the haldex bias change, for example, that might impact on mechanical life etc so not advisable if worried about things. Changing a door open warning or double press on key fob no problem!

    great video mate. I have just bought a Highline Multivan here in Oz. and it's got a friggin annoying feature were when you first start the engine it comes up with a message saying " please drive to the road rules " or something pathetic like that . ( I kinda thought thats what you do your drivers licence for..but maybe not anymore in this nanny state we live in. Does the California have the same message and if so can this turn it off?. Cheers again 👍

  • @CampervanTime

    The California doesn’t have that message here in the UK, but then multivans / combis / bullis don’t either. Must be a Europe / Oz difference. I am 99% sure that you can turn this off with Carista, yes. If you look carefully in the video at 6:34 - 6:35 you will see an option on the Carista screen for ‘show follow traffic regulations disclaimer on infotainment’ - which ours is set to ‘no’, I bet yours will be set to ‘yes’. 👍

How are you deal with bedding things then? Can you keep quilt and pillow upstairs when you take the roof down? Thanks for a great channel! Best regards from sweden! Janne Gustavsson

  • @CampervanTime

    @CampervanTime

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes you can put the roof down when it is raining. The bedding getting wet really depends - it depends on if you have used any kind of roof topper or internal thermal/water resistant liner (like the ISOTOP). If you have then it’s no problem. If you haven’t then there is the potential for water to wick through the wet canvas a little. The canvas is very water repellant anyway so it’s never that bad at all.

  • @CampervanTime

    Well, I had a chat with our friendly VW master tech about that and he said no basically - and they are so time pressured that unless what had been coded was very obvious and linked to some kind of mechanical fault etc then that is when they’d know. I would steer well clear of altering things like the haldex 4wd bias etc as this may put more strain on certain bits of the drivetrain than when out of the factory. Changing a warning beep or something innocent like that (adaptions as they are called) wouldn’t even be noticed and certainly won’t be the source of a failure of anything. I felt comfortable about it after talking to him.

    Yep, the ‘no spare’ is a pain, although we’ve only got 17s so we do have a spare but fully agree on the lack of electronic handbrake. Would make turning the seat round a lot easier. The powered tailgate isn’t an option on the California because of the chair storage (ie extra weight) that is in the tailgate. That’s my understadning.

    Thank you very much for this really interesting information! I do have to say I truly enjoy your channel - well, I subscribed for a reason... ;-) BUT I do have one urgent and major question: Why do you play this music in the background? :-? It makes it so much harder to listen to you (not only for the hearing impaired)... It´s a little ironic that you talk about an annoying sound in the T6.1 and at the same time keep adding a sound to your video that not only is completely unnecessary, but - at least when it comes to me - is also kind of annoying...sorry! So, if I may be allowed to ask you a favour: Please go back to your former way of making videos, just talk - no music! Your messages are interesting enough, they don´t need to be "pimped up" with some annoying background music... ;-) tyvm, indeed! :-)
