Silence for Hillsborough, not Margaret Thatcher - Brendan Rodgers
Спорт
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says the silence ahead of their game at Reading on Saturday is for the victims of the Hillsborough disaster and not for the former Prime Minister Baroness Thatcher.
Reading chairman Sir John Madejski has called for football to mark the death of Baroness Thatcher with a one-minute silence but the Premier League and Football League will not be asking clubs to organise tributes.
Rodgers says remembering the people who died at Hillsborough is "the only remembrance there should be" and it will give Reading an opportunity "to show their support for the families and the 96 supporters who are no longer here".

The 96 people who died or were fatally injured in “pens” three and four, standing right behind the goal, so by definition Liverpool’s hard core of support, were honoured by their families in achingly tender personal statements read out in court. They came from all walks of life: working-class, middle-class, wealthy, hard-up, from Liverpool, the Midlands, London and around the country. They included a heartbreakingly large number of young people - 37 were teenagers - because to watch an FA Cup semi-final then cost only £6. They were sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands, one wife - Christine Jones, 27 - and partners. Twenty-five were fathers; one, 38-year-old Inger Shah, was a single mother with two teenagers: altogether, 58 children lost a parent .

Well said Rogers. What reason would any Scouser have for paying respects to her? did she show us any respect in 1989 and the years that followed? I dont think so. Respect is earned. The Families of the 96 have EARNED our respect. All thatcher has done is died before Justice could be served to her and everyone else who took part in the cover up.
I'm so proud of Brendan Rodgers. I hope he stays for many years. There is no reason to mourn Thatcher. She was very old and died of natural courses, so her death was hardly a tragedy. But even more importantly she was part of the decision to cover up the truth about Hillsborough and the decision to blame the victims. Football was not important to her anyway. She knew that football fans were working class people who would never vote for her, so why should she do anything for them.

There was no "cover up".
Brendan Rodgers seems a decent guy. The cover-up over the Hillsborough disaster by various sections of the establishment has been a national disgrace. And I find it hard to understand the twisted hatred of people towards a city or supporters of a football club; there's far too much tribalism and hatred on youtube and in UK as a whole.
Well said by our manager. Thatcher, I can barely mention her name, should never be able to rest in peace. And those who are still alive who had a major hand in this disaster, SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT TO REST AT ALL!

Based on documents disclosed to the Panel, this chapter assesses the impact of the 1981 crush on crowd safety at Hillsborough. It considers the decisions taken between 1981 and 1989 by SWFC, its safety consultants, the local authority (Sheffield City Council) and the 6 South Yorkshire Police (SYP) regarding modifications to the Leppings Lane terrace and their consequences for the safe management of the crowd.
What I think is if you go deep down regarding Hillsborough disaster there will be so many people who are responsible but the government is covering them up if you want the society to prosper you must give proper justice to people you simply cannot have one rule for the establishment and one rule for the helpless people who can't do anything speedy justice must be given to these people

@KryptonitetoallBS
3 жыл бұрын
@@tonyh7994 I've lived and worked all around the UK and Ireland. You get tribal hatred in most cities around the country but some clubs exceed that. Liverpool fans are disliked all over the UK for various reasons. Being the home of slavery isn't a great start, playing dull football prior to the back pass law being outlawed, getting ALL English clubs banned from Europe, taking no responsibility for the death of 39 Juve fans and leaving their families and friends feeling deserted hence they turned their backs of Liverpool's peace offering of a floral tribute in 2006, having supporters who would ambush away fans with Stanley knives around Anfield and robbing or smashing up their cars, setting a terrible example to children by having players who began and perfected the art of diving here in England from Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and now the current diving champion Mo Salah, supporting their club captain after 2 vicious assaults on hard working members of the public who were just going about their daily business both captured on video, robbing their own fans outside the CL final in Athens 2007 before some ticketless fans stormed the gates and as a club supporting the racist behaviour of Luis Suarez right down from the Manager Kenny Dalglish to the entire squad wearing T shirts in support of racism. Then you also have the almost unique situation where there are banners around Liverpool saying " Scouse not English". Many Liverpudlians don't want anything to do with England, so why should England want anything to do with them? They are known widely as "The self-pity city". Offended by everything, Ashamed of nothing, Always the victims, It's never your fault". Everton supporters are not despised. They represent Liverpool with pride and dignity wherever they go. What about Heysel? That’s a separate issue, another football stadium tragedy, poor choice of stadium, insufficient police and security and yes there were fans taunting and fighting one another, that’s not to be excused and as far as I’m aware there were fans prosecuted and held accountable for their actions. Don’t draw a parallel between Heysel and Hillsborough, the latter involved police incompetence, negligence and then perverting justice on a grand scale for twenty seven years, judicial system, gutter press and television supported by successive governments and the establishment conspired to blame innocent people who died whilst attending a football match. It makes me sick to the pit of my stomach that someone would raise the subject of Heysel on a thread about Hillsborough.
