Wow! Steve, you are fantastic! Not only helpful on your video, but to actually chat with you within seconds of getting on your website - unheard of! I felt like I was chatting with Harrison Ford - LOL. Thanks for contacting the manufacturer, and getting me those little details I needed to know on this stuff - while we were chatting!!!. You have certainly earned me as a new customer. Big box stores may carry this stuff and perhaps slightly less, but many employees there do not have any knowledge what-so-ever about the products they carry. So sad. Thanks again. I can't wait for the temps to drop a bit so I can get going on this project.

He doesn’t know anything about this product either. If you install any polyurethane sealant an each deep it will fail. NO POLYURETHANE SEALANT SHOULD BE INSTALLED MORE THAN 1/2” deep. The correct formula for sealants ( these are both polyurethane sealants) is 1/2 as deep as wide but never less than 1/4” nor more than 1/2” deep. Google the technical data sheet for either product. It is very clear. As a professional sealant installer, the warranty is void if we do not use the proper width to depth ratio including minimum and maximum depths. Anything over 1/2”:deep will fail.

No sealant manufacturer in the world will allow a sealant depth of 1”. The minimum depth is 1/4” and maximum depth is 1/2”. Within those parameters it should be 2:1. These dimensions are very critical to sealant life.NEVER INSTALL SEALANT MORE THAN 1/2” DEEP. This is very basic to sealant installation. I’m sure Sika will be interested in knowing one of its distributors is putting out such blatantly false information. And since there is a graphic it isn’t just a matter of mis speaking.
