Only the people who experienced this movie early in their life can understand how special it is for them. And this song feels like it was written for that scene, a completely bittersweet tearjerker.

I remember watching this movie with my ex-wife in Alaska. She couldnt comprehend. We are going through a Divorce.There were other movie goers who understood it. We talked about existentialism and what it truly means to live. You have one life. Help, Love and Live as much as possible. Cheers

THE most underrated movie of the century.

Ugh... i've never had a film that had such an impact on my day to day life. What makes this a masterpiece how relatable the main character is... consequences... losing someone who you deemed perfect. They're so relatable that you are feeling exactly what david is feeling on the roof top.... feeling truly sad... but the sweet is never as sweet without the sour.

This film made me sad, but in a nice way...

It makes me want to change my life. Very few movies have that affect on me. Vanilla Sky is truly an amazing movie.

Just watched this film for the first time. Really got me. Touched me personally on a few levels. The scene wheres this song plays is particularly touching. Wonderful song. Yet depressing.

*Powerful movie. Really moved me in many ways. Most of today's movies I turn off after 30 minutes in. They just do not capture me. But then movies like Vanilla Sky come along and help me remember good movies are still out there*

+Gadget Jeff TV true , the problem now is the studios only want big productions like marvel and such , because even if the movie is crap , they will make tons of money with proper advertising. Gonna be more and more difficult to find good movies based only on scenario and acting ... and ... music :)

Yes, I find it similar to AI in a lot of ways, another underrated movie imo. If you like AI I bet you'll like Vanilla SKy.

This is painfully beautiful

Lost my father four months ago. He only got 62, one day before their 40th wedding day, on my sister's birthday (seriously, what are the motherf***ing chances?!?!). Then I remembered this movie, dealing with loss and death. Listening to this song makes me want to be put in a dream where I can see my father again :'(

Jokeonyou89, I lost my father to cancer almost 2 years ago and he as well was 62. We were very close and music brought us closer. VS has been my favorite movie since it first came out. I fell in love with this song and Sigur Ros. Listening to this song since my father's passing brings so many good memories back. I'm sorry for your loss.

When u love someone u know but when they dont feel the same way its sux cause you know youll never have that butterfly feeling again thats how vanilla sky makes me feel its a cruel lucid dream

This song for some reason, inspires me, and for a thousand different reasons, from the soundtrack, to the cast, and all in between... this film will remain my favorite. Each time I watch it, I find another 'ah-ha' moment. The latest one is at the end of the film, when he is asked to open his eyes, his right eye, which was disfigured in the accident, is full frame, and corrected. I know he agreed to wake up and get the work done, but great and subtle touch.

Saw them at Rock Werchester in Belgium 2008 - best show of my life, they are simply one of the best - most underrated bands of all time.

Vanilla sky evokes powerful feelings in me too something hard to express this song is amazing I've loved it for years

Looking at pictures of us together with Njosnavelin in background and crying the tears of joy =) God, I am grateful for every moment I get to spend with her.

The despair from having a love vanish from you without having any control. Great song and Vanilla Sky is a fantastic movie.

Saw sigur ros live at JPJ here in Va and loved the show. At first I was amazed how barren the seats were. Basically we were all allowed to move to whatever seat we wanted (minus the standing floor). Somehow though that gave me comfort - the fact that the place want packed. Made me feel as if the music and the band was truly unique in its sound and attitude. So much so that it's fans are limited to some extent. Here's to those that appreciate sigur ros!

First time I saw VS, I was on an eighth of shrooms. Needless to say, it fixed itself into my psyche. But it’s no less powerful without the hallucinogens. And this song.... Damn.

the critics absolutely had no idea of what this film was about. They're too accustomed to reviewing hollywood crap. This film was so far out of the box, that most audiences and critics missed out on the greatness of this film. One of the greatest films since the turn of the millennium.

i love this movie

I envision the innocence of my children... The hugs, kisses, smiles and laughter. All of that has since passed as they've grown into young adults. Now the once carefree joyfulness has given way to adulting... and it breaks my heart. I knew they'd get older, I just never wanted "my" concerns to be placed upon their shoulders... ever. I know, as they become men, they'll forge their own paths, with their own adventures... I just hope they remember that they have two parents, to whom, they will forever be those kids; playing and dancing in the rain.

I can't watch Vanilla Sky it makes me suicidal. I don't know why I say that but the thought of the movie is sooo very depressing that it's very very triggering to watch but this song triggers something very very different and hopeful for me which is loving to me. Yea I feel pretty similar. The thought of watching it again makes me sad for some reason, don't know why. It was painful watching it the first time; I guess I just really felt for the characters in that movie, especially Penelope Cruz (she has this adorable innocence about her and it drives me crazy).

KyanaPrime You know those dreams sometimes you have that you get so attached to, whether it is a lover or whatever, and then you wake up and you have this deep sadness or longing to go back to your dream? I think the writers tried to get that same feeling.

The reality of this movie was that he lost her forever that night after the club. And the life that was created for him post-reality was perfect. I know it eventually fell apart, but it was running for 150 years before then. I think what makes this movie for me is the roof scene at the end, tying everything together. Our acceptance of what is versus what we want it to be. I don't think we should see this as suicidal (ignore man jumping from building for a moment ;-) Its a death alright, but not a physical one, but think of it as the killing of the characters we create for ourselves, who are stuck playing the same scene over and over. Its an end to that sad play, and instead, its you doing whatever you have to do (even getting over your own fears "his fear of heights") to stop the cycle of living in a world you created that has nothing to do with the world that is, and "open your eyes".

Since this has been written , I've broken up with my girlfriend about 3 months ago. And I can honestly say that this song is the manifestation of peace in my life now. Thanks I couldn't find this version (a live track recorded for the movie since they had yet to record the album ( ). #4 (The Nothing Song/Njosnavelin) is the track that got me into Sigur Ros (and others I bet), and tho #4 is still a huge favorite Sigur Ros are REAL musicians with so much amazing work. Also, if you really like the movie then go see "Abre Lose Ojos." It started at sundance and blew up without a Hollywood touch (commendable), best part?NO Tom Cruise! Please listen to Sigur Ros asap

I too, like most, have loved and lost. Who she was when we met, and who I was when we met, made the resulting "WE" a deeply emotional relationship that seemed would last forever. But time corrupted our haven and we could no longer build new memories together. However, I am forever thankful for those I've already earned. Hopefully you were able to severe your future with her before it destroyed the memories of your past. File those away with a smile, and move on to the next ride of your life.

Yes it is a live version and has been adjusted to fit into the movie version. Cameron Crowe got this song before it was released having heard it at a concert. I am glad he used the raw version track rather than waiting for the studio version. Sigur Ros is a great live sounding band.

French singer Mylène Farmer's favorite group. I bought the cd and this song is my favorite now. C'est d'un planant! No wonder why Mylène created afterwards the excellent album Interstellaires.
