Radiohead/Thom Yorke have mentioned them as one of their favorite bands and influenced from them. Sigur Ros is in it's own genre. Transcends genres. One of my favorite bands ever.

I was lucky enough to see Sigur Ros live in the early 2000's. If I remember correctly at some points the singer was singing into his guitar pickups, producing a trippy distorted vocal. After the show the band showed up at the same bar we were at and hung out and drank with us. They were really nice and seemed to be having fun even though they spoke zero english.

I don’t know what it is about this band… without understanding a word of what is being said I always have such an emotional connection to what they do that I find myself in tears, mostly happy tears, so often when I listen to them, especially their live performances. Their music is just so beautiful - nobody does things quite like Sigur Ros 😍🥰

I love this band. Their most recent album, Kveikur, has a lot more traditional rock vibe to it, especially the title track. Their stand out album, though, is still Agaetis Byrjun ("A Good Start"). So many emotions attached to that album over the last 20+ years of my life. "Svefn-g-Englar" is an incredibly textured track, as is "Olsen Olsen," which gives me vibes of the fourth movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony in spots.

Sigur Rós is my favorite band of all time. I don't think this was their greatest performance though. This song sounds way better on the album in my opinion. But I'd love to see more Sigur Rós reactions. If you want live, their performances from their Heima movie are outstanding. Especially the performance of Untitled 8 or Hoppipolla. Radiohead was one of the first big bands taking notice of Sigur Rós btw and hired them as their supporting act back in the day.

Radiohead fans and Sigur Ros fans often share a nod toward one another. Thom Yorke and Jonsi have stated their mutual respect and admiration. While Radiohead can get more electronic and/or angsty around their beauty, Sigur Ros is always gorgeous with a lean toward cinematic and ethereal. (Although they do hit hard and rock on several songs.) A tremendous experience listening to their albums chronologically, as you would with Radiohead, to get the full effect of their evolution. Stumbled upon a gem with Sigur Ros. If not for the channel, take an hour, some headphones, and start with agaetis byrjun.

Radiohead is a great comparison! Jonsi is one of the few male singers that can match Thom Yorke in the falsetto / upper register, and Sigur Ros definitely has a similar experimental approach to Radiohead (particularly in their use of guitar distortion / effects).

Many famous people actually love Sigur Ros. Including Tyler and Josh from twenty one pilots, Thom Yorke from Radiohead, also Gerard Butler.

Gerard Butler is also a fan of Chris Chan. He may not be the the best example of someone have consistently good taste or judgement.

Sigur Rós are - as far as I'm concerned - usually considered post-rock, a genre that is as vast as the Sahara desert. I like some of its representatives (like Sigur Ros), while others are too arty/boring for me.
