Have to remember, The Israelites were not captured or conquered into slavery. They were welcomed in as friends and relatives to Jacob whom married into the Egyptians. It was centuries till that group became more endentured servants more than slaves. The record youre looking for is vastly different then a sudden capture of slaves and forced to work.

There is no evidence of a sizeable Hebrew population in Ancient Egypt. There was a Jewish community during the Ptolomaic period, however, but their function was a military one ,and they were not slaves or endentured servants .

@@marspole2048 the Jews were Henotheistic, meaning, they believed in many gods. Their chief god of gods was El Shaddai, which means god of the mountain, shortened to El. The tetratgrammaton were the Hebrew consonants ‘Yod he vav he’ or YHWH of which it is unknown what the vowels in between were because there are no vowels in Hebrew. Medieval pronunciation has accepted pronunciation as Yahweh or Jehovah, arbitrarily. Also, Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh could be considered the name of the Hebrew god but that supposedly just means ‘I am that I am’. This of course, has many implications to the Jesus story. That being said, none of this is evidence that the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt or that the Exodus ever happened. It’s a non sequitur and a red herring. Anyone with an ounce of common sense, knew those Pharoahs were not white. How black or brown they were, means nothing. Just the other day, I saw an historical article saying that the Pharoah's were mixed white and black races. No, they were not. It's like they're saying, alright, we'll hold our hands up for lying and then having the nerve to try make a bargain, of falsely placing white people, into Egyptian history. It's more than pathetic. It's absurd.

The other Egyptologists say the evidence doesn't fit the preconceived narrative so it cannot be right. Obviously this is consistent with many other fields of science, not to mention why people reject the Gospel. It doesn't fit their personal narrative. I for one appreciate Mr Rohl's investigative labors.

IMO, they are right. What you call the "preconceived narrative" is in fact all of the context. Exemple: An invincible, godly-powered kingdom right in the heart of an Egyptian province doesn't fit with any contemporary accounts of the time. People tend to notice such things, they leave traces, inscriptions, pottery, remains.

His predecessor conquered Canaan, which Amenhotep II inherited. We have records of his campaigns in Syria. During his reign, here were no Philistines for the Israelites to avoid. Plus the years of the wandering, this would have Joshua invading Canaan during or just before the reign of Amenhotep III, during which the Amarna tablets written to Pharaoh from the subject states were written. There's no ambiguity about the extent of Egyptian rule in this interval. And this rule would continue for another ~150 years or so afterward, up to and including the reign of Ramses II, who organized campaigns into Syria from his base in Megiddo. Incidentally, this is when Pi-Ramesses was built, which Exodus claims the Hebrews did during their captivity. This latter attribution could be explained away as editorial re-labelling, but it's also consistent with the story being written down much later. There's not much alternative given everything else.

"Secular scholars" believe the Egyptians had slaves, including semitic slaves. It's the main problems with Exodus: we know that Egypt controlled Canaan during the interval in which the Exodus and Conquest was supposed to have occurred, namely ~1450BC. From Thuthmose III to Ramses II, there's no ambiguity about Egyptian control of Canaan. Exodus records the Israelites traveling around and avoiding the cities of the coast, as the Peluset (Philistines) were there. They didn't settle there until after 1175BC, after Egyptian control of Canaan began to slip with the Bronze Age Collapse. Exodus and Joshua describe Canaan as it would have looked around the 9th century BC, not the 15th or even 13th. Jericho was a known ruin at this point, as its destruction dates to 1550BC. It would be surprising if the Egyptians never kept semitic slaves, especially with their recent memory of living under semitic rule, i.e. the Hyksos. I'm not a Christian, but I'm not a hyper-skeptic of the Bible either. It would be weird for it to be completely ahistorical. There are plenty of secular scholars who have been overly-skeptical of the Bible. Personally I'd be very, very surprised if the Israelites or some of their ancestors had not been enslaved by Egypt at some point. Maybe one day we'll find explicit and specific documentation of this. I don't think we have, yet, but it's probably out there.

They're actually all black. If you blow up the picture of the slave(s) that appear much lighter you would see that the brown coloring has worn off or was purposely scrubbed off. However, you can see parts of the body with some of the dark brown coloring remaining. What color were the ancient Israelites, the evidence is overwhelming, brown to dark brown like the Egyptians, Canaanites, Babylonians, Phoenicians, Elamites, etc. BTW, Elam was the first son of Shem. Google wall reliefs depicting Elamites, in the palace of Darius, in Sousa, Iran. They still have their original color, dark brown, what we call black today. Keep in mind, at least 8 of Jacobs sons mated with Hamite wives and concubines, plus two of the tribes were half Egyptian. All Israelites of the Exodus were born in Egypt, Africans by birth, and would flee south to Africa in times of trouble.

Exodus 1:8-9 "Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we." Obviously the new Pharaoh knew who Joseph was - you just have to read a little bit down the text. In the context of Exodus 1:8, "know" means "to recognize, acknowledge". The new Egyptian king simply didn't honor the previous relationship Joseph had with the former king.

I remember there was tomb picture of two darker skinned men knelt down in front of two lighter skin men. "They" said the darker men were slaves cleaning the lighter skinned royals. Turns out the picture actually depicted the two darker men (Egyptian Doctors) performing circumcisions on the two other men. I personally believe thay looked lighter because the paint has eroded away. My point is you can't believe a damn thing these people say. Egyptians and Israelites were identical in features. How else did Moses pass?.

Moses didn’t have to “pass” as anything. Only in the movies was his Hebrew identity a secret. In the Bible, he was taken from the river in full view of all the maidens of the Pharaoh’s daughter. One of her maidens fetched the basket, and that was that. She didn’t send them away and hide this fact that she was adopting him, or that he was a Hebrew baby. When he cried, she felt compassion and decided she wanted to raise him. No story of some dead husband sending her a son, that’s all movie fabrication. And there was no sibling nor romantic rivalry, between Moses and a son of Pharaoh, no city building by Moses mentioned, no “rumors of a deliverer” mentioned, those are “artistic license” additions. It does at one point in later years say he was known in the land of Egypt, but not specifically why, although towards the Exodus, everyone in Egypt knew he was representing God, those plagues were hitting them hard, and they all wanted them to go. And all they were asking for all along was 3-days off to go take all their people and cattle to go worship God as they’d be directed to do. They weren’t sure the further commands, so Moses told the Pharaoh how they had to take everyone and the cattle because God would choose which specific animals when they got there. They weren’t asking to be freed, just wanted a 3-day weekend. That’s why God hardened his heart, he had a bigger plan than the Hebrews could dream of. Vengeance belongs to God, and he was about to wipe out Egypt’s everything. Everything they did to his people for over 400 years, he was going to return on their heads, and more. The river ran with the blood of the Hebrews, so he gave them a week of bloody river, they killed the firstborn, he took theirs (the final plague), and so on. So, they also lost all their grain, their trees were smashed with gigantic hail, and fire ran along the ground (this has happened in the US recently, forgot which city, but a jagged, rambling stream of fire they tried to brush off as “maybe it’s sewer gas” but clearly wasn’t, it ran narrow, maybe fluctuating about 6-15’ wide as it zigged and zagged, but very long (didn’t see the end when the camera panned left or right down the street), and had a clear mist coming off it as well. Really trippy. People couldn’t cross the street. I thought of the plague of hail and fire raining down on Egypt, the fire running along the ground (the Geneva says lightning ran along the ground, even more deadly. We’d have to go to the original Hebrew to see exactly if it means fire or lightning, or both. That river of fire here in the US was fire, but jagged like lightning)…so with the various plagues, they lost all their cattle, their people suffered scabby sores, so there was no comfortable position to be in, their food supply, water contaminated. And after taking the firstborn, he took their wealth (sent away with their gold and treasures, just to get rid of them), and wiped out their military, no protection from adversaries. To this day, the bones and chariots of the Egyptian military lie on the underwater land bridge in the Red Sea, covered in coral (it’s video recorded when found and more recently; it’s illegal to remove any coral from the Red Sea). It’s unmistakable, all the chariot wheels and axles, with their hubs, and rib cages of the men, horse hooves, it most certainly happened. Also, the sand on the beach on the Egyptian side was superheated and fused like glass to the rocks, just like the Bible said, the wall of fire between them until they could get across, the evidence is still there. They did find 2 matching obelisks, flanking the sea, one had fallen over into the water and had some erosion, but on the Saudi side, it was intact. When found, the Saudis moved it further back for preservation. Other sites of the Exodus have also been found. No question, it all happened just as is written. God did all that for vengeance, and to free them for good, not just the 3 days off they were asking for, which was all they were hoping for. But God ALSO did it to show the Egyptians that their gods were useless, and that God is God, not just any god will do. Not some “we all think of a higher being, so it’s all the same” god, but THE God. He sent frogs, they had a frog god, he was saying “here you go, have millions of your frogs, and see how well your frog god serves you”… So, the movies don’t exactly tell Bible stories with accuracy, Moses didn’t have to “pass” for anything but the Hebrew he was, and the truth is always more interesting. But Moses’s sister did stand nearby until he was safely found by her, and did offer to go get a nurse for her, and of course got her mom, his real mother, they got that part right. And his real mother was actually rewarded by Pharaoh’s daughter, (who likely knew exactly who she was to Moses) for nursing him until he was weaned. That’s why it’s important to read it yourself, and not listen to preachers and movies. Sometimes preachers just repeat movies, or what they were raised with, when the Bible didn’t say any such thing. (Like anti-alcohol, Jesus didn’t make grape juice, he made, served and drank wine. The Bible says it makes God happy and his people happy, he commanded wine AND strong drink as temple offerings, and never accepted or commanded ungodly things as offerings), and apparently these people don’t read those parts of the Bible, it just says not to rise in the morning to drink all day and pass out with a drink in your hand, or wake in your own vomit, but it also says that about FOOD, but you don’t see those same people swearing off ever eating food again, do you? Nope. Also says the same about work or rest, don’t overdo it. God expects his people to drink, and know when they e had enough, just like everything else. Clearly they’ve not read the countless times God calls wine and strong drink a blessing, one of which he will make overflow in his faithful people’s lives, and they’ve not read Deuteronomy 14:22-26. It wasn’t a suggestion, it was a commandment. You will take up a specific tithe and you will go to where I show you to go and celebrate how good I am to you and rejoice, and you’ll choose whatever your heart desires to eat and to drink, (he gives some suggestions), your wine and your strong drink…. More reasons to read it yourself. No mention of gambling, smoking, or even God grown drugs being sins. Those society. Are they usually stupid? Yes. Are they sins, according to the Bible? Nope. We are to take care of our bodies, they are temples of God, if we’ve accepted him, so there’s that. But according to him, wine and strong drink are part of maintaining it, as are drugs he grew, in their natural form, for specific uses. It’s in Genesis, every green thing, every herb bearing seed is for the good of man. I personally hate pot (no strain of it is helpful to me), gambling (I like something to show for my money), or smoking (given up that habit because I prefer to breathe), but it’s not sinful per se, and that’s biblical.

Ancient Egypt covered a huge area; it encompassed countries in the northern Sinai peninsula and the ancient land of Canaan (encompassing modern-day Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Jordan and the southern portions of Syria and Lebanon). There were people of all colours in Ancient Egypt and it was the farmers who built their temples and tombs, as they all worshipped the same gods. They did the building during the time of “inundation”, when the Nile flooded.

This is an interesting topic. The slaves probably weren’t allowed proper burial during the time of Moses. The Pharaoh made their lives bitter. I highly doubt they would have been allowed to bury their dead in Goshen. That’s one reason why it’s difficult to pinpoint the time of the Exodus. The archeological record would be hard to pinpoint in the delta. The yearly inundation flooded many villages. Goshen would have been near to the water because they would have had to move people, supplies, and other goods to and from the construction sites. I hope they someday find concrete evidence for the Exodus. I still go for the Ramses the 2nd theory as the pharaoh of the Exodus. He built so many monuments. He was also a military Pharaoh. He would want to oppress any enemy or potential enemy to the utmost degree. His city was built on the delta, and we know the city had to be relocated at a certain point.

Egypt controlled Canaan from the approximate date of the Exodus to well after. Jericho was destroyed ~1550BC. The Peluset (Phillistines) were not settled in Gaza/Gath/Ashkelon until 1175BC. This is not an "absence of evidence" problem.

This is another case of the politics of academia is getting in the way of discovery and knowledge. These can't be isreslites listed in the Brooklyn papyrus because we've built our careers on the idea that the Israelite were, if they were there at all, were there in a different time period. Ignorance is preferred if knowledge upsets some apple arts.

According to archaeologists, when Moses was alive, the whole Canaan region was actually ruled by Egypt. So the whole Exodus doesn’t make sense, escaping from Egypt to another region ruled by Egypt? The Exodus was a legend not history.

If the correct timeline is used, the Pharaoh( King) that did not know of Joseph, was the first Hyksos Pharaoh Circa 1750 BCE. The Hyksos had invaded Egypt from the Northeast through the Levant, and had a technological superiority in that they had light, spoked wheel chariots, horses and Tin /Bronze weapons. Various cultures from Canaan and to the north practiced slavery as a matter of course. With this incursion, the Hyksos needed two settlements constructed. One for the military garrison ( Ramses) and the other as administrative ( Pitom). Archeology has shown that at both locations PiRamses and Avaris, that river stone was used as foundations, however since the Nile Delta is a moisture laden area, these foundations could not support finished stone,nor was any available, so they built with what could easily be used. Mud Brick. This when dried, is much lighter than any stone structure. Excavations at Avaris, has discovered mud brick tombs.

Tthere us also a Proto- Hebrew inscription found in a Turquoise mine in the Sinai peninsula the reads as ‘ El, help me”. The Hyksos controlled the peninsula and Turquoise was a distinct commodity that they could trade north as Lower Egypt did not gave access to the Nubian gold mines.

During the time of Thutmoses II, all if the Levant was under Egyptian control as it was Ahmose that chased the Hyksos out of Egypt north to the border if the Hittites Circa 1500 BCE. And the Hebrews in both Israel and Judah were part of the Egyptian forces at the battle if Meggido.any prisoners if war would NOT Have been from areas already controlled by Egypt. In college during my Art History course, Egyptian sculptures were one of the things discussed about Egyptian art. The professor said that “something caused an immediate and great decline in Egyptian sculptures,”to which I said that “the Bible gives an account that there was an exodus of Egypt’s slaves which would account for Egypt’s instant decline because that exodus would have been around 1.5 million slaves just get up one day and walk out of Egypt which means that every laborer in every aspect of Egyptian life would be gone; Egypt’s cooks, maids, farmers, craftsmen, sculptors, brick makers, and so on would be gone leaving Egyptians independent to do those things for themselves. Furthermore, the Egyptians knew not how to do anything for themselves because their slaves did everything for them for centuries and the slaves passed their skills and knowledge to their children for generations and that the evidence for that would be the inferior sculptures that we see after the exodus.” The professor said nothing. My point is that the evidence for slavery is strong and evident at every level and timeline in Egyptian history; however, at what point are their objections just denial? What benefits do Jews get for their exodus account of their history? If their objections are for the reason that they don’t believe in the Jew’s God, then what’s the problem??? For example, I don’t believe in the god Zeus or Allah, so how does proving these peoples’ existence, history, culture, and etc., prove that their gods exist and that I am obligated to worship them?? Anyway, at the time while in college, I was not a Christian, but I had read the Bible and watched the 1956 movie, “The Ten Commandments,” starring Charleston Heston when I was a tween. I think that I was just stating the obvious in class that intellectually dishonest people for whatever reasons deny.

You're forgetting that the Israelites were prohibited from sculpting the human figure. Do you see any such sculpture in Ancient Israel? I am not referring to Canaanite sculpture. The Egyptians were quite talented artisans. They use paid workmen to do their art, not slaves. The bible clearly states that the Israelites work was to make mudbricks not sculpture or statues or pyramids or anything else...mudbricks.

@@listenup2882 I recounted an experience during college when I was not a Christian, so I would not have known that. With that in mind, and now that I am a Christian, I’d have to disagree with you because I believe that many Israelites compromised their faith and did sculpt human figures because look at the way they behaved in the wilderness. They behaved as people who had no problem compromising their faith in God. They even went as far as creating a golden calf to worship. I understand that not all Israelites compromised their faith, but a good portion of them did compromise their faith and I believe that it was these Israelites who sculpted human figures for Egypt. That’s how it is, right? Even today, the majority compromise their faith in God. Many, many people, if not most people, compromise their faith in Christ Jesus and they also behave like they are worshiping the golden calf instead of worshiping God.

Dude even the people who wrote the old testament couldn't agree on what exactly happened during the Exodus, some say they were enslaved by Egyptians before walking for four decades, others say they simply broke off from Canaan to build their own kingdom and there was never a mass fleeing of Egypt. There's literally no evidence that Moses existed or that the pyramids were built by slaves, in fact the pyramids of Giza are so complex and pin point that it very well may be the most advanced stone structure in human history...which you don't get from slaves who only know how to push big bricks around while they got whipped, you get that from having the most skilled stone masons in the world at the time along with a dedicated, well paid workforce. Hell there's even evidence that the Pyramids are older than Egypt Itself so how does Moses and his flock fit into that historical wrinkle? If anything the Israelites broke away from Canaan long ago and merely adopted this story to give them more antiquity and it made for a better tale than "we just don't want to be Canaanites nor affiliate with them even though we're neighbors".

Yea that they weren’t Israelites they were Hyksos, the IsraELites were in canaan at the time. The ppl known as israEL prayed to EL and were primarily in Canaan, proof is the seated statues of EL that are found from 1500 bc - 1200 bc and the ugaritic text 1200 bc proves the exact spot where IsraEL 1st pop up in history and they continue to found there until 800 bc. Also the shasu of ywh were not known as the Hyksos or Israel and are mentioned through that time as separate groups. So you have the Hyksos/ Habiru, IraEL and the Shasu of ywh in that same area and the combined sometimes after the exodus. The Abrahamic religion is a mixture of cultures and religions, El and ywh are Canaanite god names and the Habiru, israEL and Shasu of ywh are 3 separate groups. There were many different people that were enslaved by the Egyptians. Some were of Asian descent, some were African, some Middle Eastern. You can see them plainly on Egyptian hieroglyphs.

The Exodus doesn't happen under Rameses reign. He doesn't have boil marks in his skin. The Pharoah of the Exodus would have clearly observed boils on his skin from the plague. Also, according to the Bible, the pharoah who ruled before the Exodus reigned for 40 years. It has to be proper timeliness and evidence instead just of hearsay.

I’ve watched the whole film a couple or more times. It’s currently on Tubi. I usually don’t put a lot of credibility in similar productions - sort of there with ancient alien theories. This one I believe is credible. Dr. Rohl brings up a very biblically accurate challenge to current Egyptology despite not being a believer himself. I’m not exactly a scholar of ancient civilizations but even before this piece was produced, I’d heard little bits and pieces pop out here and there to make me question the timeline. That great Hollywood productions such as “The Ten Commandments” sort of aided and abetted the accepted chronology, intentionally or by accident. Though we are so anxious for the truth to be told now and be accepted, on on Christ’s return will we know what we think we’ve missed.

@@michellebrown4903 Study Hebrew/Biblical prophecy, there is a reason why this isn’t a good argument for Jesus being a false prophet. Prophecy biblically for example was often conditional. Research the Biblical context before making goofy claims. And as for the Exodus the Bible isn’t plainly clear on the date, however it would make a lot of sense if the Hyksos were able to invade bc Egypt was weakened do to the Exodus.

I would imagine that the Hebrew Slaves or any Slaves had worked in the fields under very hot and humid conditions ,which meant that the skin would have climitized to the harsh conditions and the pygments changing to dark coloured skin to cope with the elements of weather and if their were intermarriage with dark skin Egyptians that would explain the much darker coloured skin. If the Slaves worked indoors and didnt see a great deal of sunshine then the skin would be much paler in colour. We are talking of several generations. The life expectancy was as the Genteman said, between 34- 35 years of age. Very Young. God Bless.

There was a BBC documentary about Joseph that I watched one time. They excavated a field and found a city calked Avis, I think. They found a pretty fancy house, and a statue of a guy with red hair and a colorful robe. There was also a tomb of some sort that was empty. Pretty convincing if you ask me! Esau was covered in red hair, and Jacob married his cousins, so it's very likely that Rachel and Leah probably had a red-head gene, too. Pretty fascinating!

The 13th dynasty is about 1800 BC and that fits the biblical timeline. The Exodus happened around 1440 BC.

Dr. David Petrovich wrote an entire book on it showing Sobekemhat is Joseph. Di-Sobekemhat is his son Ephraim, and his brother Hibbebided is his brother Manasseh. Even names his son Shechem.

If you want to learn the truth about slavery, exodus, etc. don't watch youtube videos. Read well-reviewed books. Find the most respected archaeologists and read what they say. So many in the field have an ax to grind, because their conclusions either confirm or deny their religious beliefs. Ignore them.

With DNA testing, we should be able to determine the people group of the slaves in Egypt. So, we can likely match the past with the present.

You can only do DNA on soft tissues. Soft tissues do not last very long after death. It is hard to do but possible but none have ever done a full study. Target DNA is more like pseudoscience where they target one race and connect it to a group of people in the past. Most scientist community do not trust these result by most egyptologist. This is what most are doing with mummies today. But the issues is if you do not do a full study on every race on earth, you are only targeting who you want that DNA to connect to, this is the issues many African and Black in america have with defining what color/ethnicities was the pharoah of Egypt back then, as no true soft tissues DNA testing or study has ever been done on any but they say the mummies were the same as the Modern day Egyptian due to Targeted DNA studies.

At the time the Hebrews were enslaved they have not yet entered into Caanan, It was was Decades after the Exodus that the Hebrews crossed over into caanan. So the Hebrews were decended from different lineage than the caananites.

What i know is that the Egyptians where dark skin,such as isrealite with dark or brown skin, and some of the Hebrew or Israelite names,sound like name from west Africa,some of the name are similar to some west African names i know

Also, another requirement is that the pharaoh reigning during the Exodus could not have been a first-born son as he was slain in the plague that killed all the first-born in Egypt. Amenhotep had an older brother, who was said to have died 'under mysterious circumstances'. I don't personally agree with the later Ramesses theory, as him (Ramesses) being the Exodus pharaoh...
