I sadly say this all the time. Like 2005-2006 I feel was the last year we got some of that old world era style of movies Movies still felt of the 90's and even the 80's sometimes back then but now lots of it feels plastic. Digital just has that gloss and manufactured look to it and does not always feel grounded. As time went on, the suspense and horror elements of movies just felt predictable and cheap. I'm sure it's costly but I would love for directors to use cameras of that 2000 era again. @@JsscRchlDrsy

There are some movies, modern and old, that also have tension and suspense and a slow build of foreboding. Some are supernatural, some are psychological: The Birds Shutter Island Bunny Lake is Missing The Mist Identity Scream of Fear (aka Taste of Fear) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Don't Look Now The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane The Other (1972) Frailty Vertigo The Talented Mr. Ripley The Ring What Lies Beneath

Yes, this movie is still creepy to me til this day. I considered it one of the scariest movies I had seen when I was younger. Horror movies with fake monsters and jump scares just don't do it compared to the possibility of alien invasions.

James Newton Howard is absolutely brilliant! I love his scores , especially the one he did for Barbra Streisand’s The Prince of Tides. Not only was the score passionately elegant and beautiful, JNH and Streisand wrote an iconic song that starts out with the lyric “Mornings…..evenings….days that hurried past, dreams that should have lasted.” Song is called Places That Belong to You. Exquisite

Signs is in my top 5 favorite movies. The story, the music score, the cast are all top tier. I watch it every chance I get. It's one of M Night's lines in the film that touches me the most "I know what I've done to you. I've made you question your faith. I'm truly sorry for what I've done to you and yours". Chokes me up every time.

Every single time I watch this film, I notice another detail! I just finished yesterday and noticed that the coal chute grate in the basement has tiny crosses all over it. This is where the fresh air is felt in the pits of the basement/despair, which can be symbolic of the faith that begins to be felt down there and begins to transform Graham. It's also where the last hurdle must be surpassed be begin that journey back to his faith (the alien is right there!) So damn good!

I feel more people hate this movie than love it. I for one LOVE this film...when i first heard of the backlash i was stunned. I understand some of the arguments...however, some are just stupid. They travelled to earth out of despiration for resources their planet no longer harbored. They were willing to take a risk. For once the Aliens weren't stupid looking, or to far fetched to even be plausible...even in outer space. Have yall seen some of the aliens in recent movies? I love how everything ties together and has a meaning. The movie had the perfect mix of comedy and thrill. I cant wrap my head around the hate Signs and The village recieve. They are truly 2 of my favorite films. I applaud M. Night Shyamalan.👏

This movie is flawed from the start. This is an alien race intelligent enough to understand physics to create ships to traverse interstellar space... but they can't figure out Water, the most abundant substance in the Universe, which makes up 80% of the Earth's surface, can kill them?

@P L Simple humidity would kill them. The only place and they would be safe would be in the desert. The movie was flawed from the start.

They're not aliens, they're demons in this film just manifested in the way you want to perceive them.

The film could have been written more carefully so I don’t want to justify it but there is a simple and intuitive explanation for a science fiction enthusiast who observes carefully: These aliens are NOT conquerors, they are raiders, pirates who pass from random planet to planet in search of food and resources only to survive. They don’t wear clothes, don’t have weapons. They are more like animals. I even suspect their ships were stolen maybe from a superior species. Think of them as wolves stealing cars and messing around. They were desperate.
