Signatures Interview with Gabor Szilasi

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) invites you to a Signatures Interview with special guest Hungarian-Canadian documentary photographer Gabor Szilasi.
Gabor Szilasi will be the guest of Leslie Weir, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, as part of the Signatures Interviews, which offer unique encounters with Canadian personalities who have donated their archives to LAC. These interviews are an excellent way to discover hidden treasures in the collection.
Gabor Szilasi is a renowned photographer who has exhibited widely both across Canada and internationally. LAC recently announced the acquisition of an important collection of Silazi's works covering nearly seven decades of the photographer's life and career. It contains more than 80,000 negatives and 42 photographic prints. These include negatives of early photographs taken in Hungary during the uprising against the Soviet invasion, as well as photographic prints from Montréal and rural Quebec.
Join us for a unique opportunity to hear the stories behind some of these incredible photographs directly from their creator.
