Sigmund Freud - The Most Brilliant Quotes That Explain A Lot of | Quotes, aphorisms, wise thoughts

Sigmund Freud born Sigismund Schlomo Freud; 6 May 1856 - 23 September 1939) was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst.
Freud was born to Galician Jewish parents in the Moravian town of Freiberg, in the Austrian Empire. He qualified as a doctor of medicine in 1881 at the University of Vienna. Upon completing his habilitation in 1885, he was appointed a docent in neuropathology and became an affiliated professor in 1902.[ Freud lived and worked in Vienna, having set up his clinical practice there in 1886. In 1938, Freud left Austria to escape Nazi persecution. He died in exile in the United Kingdom in 1939.

I like the quote, "One thing human about beings puzzles me the most is their conscious effort to be connected with the object of their affection even if it kills them slowly within." There are so many levels in this quote, physical, mental and emotional. My first thought is how our eating habits is killing many of us slowly. Secondly, I thought of a work relationship where I felt betrayed by an assistant I had poured so much into. I found myself rehearsing the betrayal throughout the past few weeks since it was recent. This quote allowed me to see this type of behavior kills one's emotional well-being. This is a quantum growth quote.

@Dream Chaser nope. You do learn a lot about life and yourself. You really get down to the foundation of who you choose to be. You can in retrospect say that you learned a lot you would not have otherwise but even that is a personal opinion and an opinion is arbitrary, it can change over time. I met a guy in his 50s once who was a multimillionaire. I asked him how he became rich. He said he was living on skid row, got a job washing dishes, decided he would be rich and started reading the financial pages, invested very small, began making money and became wealthy. He said he realized he was bsing himself on skid row, got bored with it and changed. He never said it was a great beautiful time. He said he was being an idiot and he stopped. Interesting guy. My struggles were not that but as difficult to me as anyone's are. And now that they're over bc everyone involved died I'm free of it but that doesn't make them beautiful. It means they're over. And I've moved on. By circumstances that I didn't control. So years of struggles that are beautiful? I have no idea what they're talking about. It's a romantic view of the nobility of poverty and hardship eventually overcome but what if they never do? Where's the beauty in that? It's bs.

@Dream Chaser the thing is this; succeed or bust it's a different form of poker. Play your best do your best and enjoy the fall of the cards or the ups and downs of bizness. Succeed? Ok. Go bust? Ok. Start another company. If you have a taco cart, build up to a stand, open a restaurant, expand to chains or franchises, go bust, get a taco cart. Or revamp downsize and keep being a businessman. The only thing that matters is that you're playing the game. Then you die and no one cares bc someone else is selling tacos from your old cart....you want salsa with that?

From what I know is not really about "WHAT they want" it's about HOW they want it. (There is a KEY difference, and how solves the what in this case... Most of the time). BTW what men want can be also a very puzzling question.

The bible says that religion is this that you visit the fatherless and the widows and keep yourself unspotted from the world. Religion is not really wishful illusions this is a manmade myth.😀
