    I love the Fajar spare because he was the one to actually kill the protagonist as a child. To have that child grow up and dominate them to a point where they could have killed them easily but chose not to brings even more shame for him. The look on his face says everything, he can barely look them in the eye. The protagonist surpassed him not only as a warrior but as a human being.

    It has more significance, I love it. "Revenge... is like a rolling stone, which, when a man hath forced up a hill, will return upon him with a greater violence, and break those bones whose sinews gave it motion." Violence begets violence - it moves bodies but not minds. You kill Fajar, who wants to gain vengeance as a consequence? Understanding, Mercy and forgiveness are the only ways to move forward.

Some research in the story suggest that they wanted to take the amulet so they could share its healing properties with the people , especially yangs family. They hated that it was kept secret from everyone else , when it could save many lives , like those of terminal illness. Kinda blurs the line between who is the real antagonist 🤔.

    The fact that this video shows each sparing cutscene with extra age shows that wisdom comes with time, and the lesson that vengeance and justice can be delivered in other ways, and that vengeance is not always the answer. And the complete contrast between all of the bosses is crazy. The botanist is the craziest, most primitive of all of them, his bloodlust evident in his fighting style. The artist, however, has become a pacifist. She wants no part of this, and she only uses her power to defend herself. The fighter is reckless, cocky. Fighting is his life, it's all his game. His style reflects both his fire powers and his personality. The CEO tries to find reasoning, however intimidating she may seem. Her life has brought her experience, and she knows the inevitable passage of time better than anyone. Yang is confident. Cold. He sees you as just another obstacle in his way. His fighting style is nigh-identical to yours, no gimmicks, no strings attached. The normal ending is gratifying, but something is missing. The sparing circle is empty, and you feel as if nothing's changed. On the extra fight, you go anime protagonist mode, standing up by sheer will, determination on your side. All five of the elements on the pendant unlock once you drop after the final fight. Except you don't actually die in the end. You fall unconscious at the end of the fight and then you reach a form of "enlightenment" which is shown by the dream-like sequence. Just like a true Sifu who has mastered all the elements, your Kung-Fu has reached the zenith of the mountain, your fist struck your enemy like lightning, and you have made their heart feel fear that you can end them anytime. We see at the post credits that one of the five coins have lost its glow (since you're back to the world of the living) and you now have a student calling you Sifu. *This is Wude* Special thanks to the guys in the comments helping to clear some vague stuff up. @OHGAS Wude isn't about not killing it's about piece of sprit. the fact that if you kill Yang in anger you become a child again is symbolic of you forever being trapped in that moment of truma. Wude is a path of enlightenment that deals with ones moraitly of mind which in essence means the protagonist just has to not hate them/forgive them (it is more complex than that but at a base lvl) they could've still justifably kill at least 3 of em if not all for the wrong doings they have done and still do and that included those who are working for the bosses as long as it's done within morality of Wude

    WuDe, 武德, is morality of a martial art practitioner. It include things such as 点到为止 (Stop at the moment you are going to hit them). The practice of Wu De is originated from the problem with Martial Art. Back in the day, people will have to fight, either with animals, people, nature(for resource), etc. To fight better with those things, people need to practice martial art. However, too much kill and practice of offensive moves make one's character filled with hatred, anger, or unable to control themselves. That is where Wu De steps in, to create rules of not kill, so one can learn to regulate their desire and heart away from the darkness.

    I dont like how everyone on the comments thinks that sparing them was more about humilation than anything else. Martial ethics dont say anything about making sure your opponent knows "i could have killed you if i wanted to." I believe it was more for closure, to get closer to "inner peace" for the main character, as i like to think he had a conversation with them, like a sifu would.

  • @enomisv9830

    I think it's both. Not only the "I could have killed you" but on top of that is the "but I willingly chose not to" making it more terrifying and humiliating that not only could he have killed them. But he was the better person and spared them. That no matter what they did, they did not reach the level of maturity that he has, and through that, they saw the error of their ways.

  • @Dave-zc3nn

    I see it more as mature than superiority,like the fact that the young part is the one that kills them and the older one spares them,like a young man hating someone for a thing they did at the point to kill them,an the older one being more mature and leaving them live because he learned that his hate blinded him and,to win his ascention,he has to spare them

    Without getting into the whole debate of if revenge killing is okay or if ""mercy"" (I hesitate to call sparing them a mercy) is dumb, I feel that from an outside perspective the sparing might've gone over better if the bosses looked absolutely wrecked after the fact. Take the Botanist for example, he looks completely and utterly disgraced after you opt to not give him a close shave. That astounded look, the way he refuses to even *look* at you, it's pretty clear you've destroyed him in a way he can never recover from. A thing I feel some in the comments section are lacking is the acknowledgment that revenge is alot like love, in the sense that both are incredibly personal to the person desiring a drive for either or. How they find that closure may not be "getting even" as it were in the traditional eye for an eye sense. These are serious martial artists you're going up against in game, some degree of mythics they are too. You displaying that you could *very easily* kill them, and simply electing not to isn't just a display of morality or forgiveness (though it may be for the Protag), it's a power move as well. You broke them, destroyed their confidence in their own styles and resolve. You were the game boss that came along, beat their ass so righteously that they gave up the will to fight. It's most certainly not weak to destroy someone's confidence in their ability and prowess. And I think they could've gotten that point across better with just a bit more satisfying cinematography for spare options.

  • @maplemaple1439

    @maplemaple1439

    Yeah, that's part of the whole way the game is presenting wude. Sure there's definitely the whole moral and philosophical aspect, but like you said, in the more practical sense, the player character is literally showing that "I can stop you anytime." It's the whole fighting without needing to fight thing that the old sifu was saying.

    The way I see the endings is this. Kill all the bosses: They did it, the deed is done. They got revenge for their fathers death. But now that that anger is gone, the motivation and drive, what's left to fill it? Sadness. Regret. Indifference. Cause now you ask yourself, was it REALLY worth it? Is this what the person you did this for wanted? And does this really make you any better? To kill a killer, you must become a killer. And that is what you become in the end. You become no better then them, cause you killed for a cause you thought was just. Same way they killed for a cause they thought was just. And you can see this in the MC, cause once that anger was satiated and satisfied, it became clear it didn't bring him any closer to the peace he wanted. Spare all the bosses: Doing this is may seem like an act of weakness, But there's more then one way to pass on a message, to make clear an intention without the need of bloodshed. As Sean said, "I recognize that uniform. It represents a school for the weak and feeble". By sparing them, inches from death, you make clear to them not only how wrong they all were, but also make clear if you really wanted to or if they want to try fight you again, you could kill them. And by doing this, even with his death, the MC finds peace. He fully understands, demonstrates and now has Wude. The funny thing is that many believe it's the MC we see in the end and Yang brought him back because of sparing him. Cause it's implied that with the bad ending, the MC used the Talisman to go back and do things the right way. But I think it might be Yang, since a single use from the Talisman is gone. He did the same thing the MC did, he went back to do things the right way this time. Now I can't say which is true since we don't get enough evidence to solidify one or the other, but I like things that way cause it's up to what we believe is true and our own interpretations. Same way with Ghost of Tsushima's ending. Yes it seems very black and white, but when you delve deeper into it, there's a lot more elements to consider that make the final choice tougher on both sides. (My friend and I chose different endings for that game, but for the same reasons)

    im pretty sure in the post credit scene was the MC because he had the same bracelet on unless Yang took it but the only thing that confuses me is that he wasnt wearing the yen bracelet. also the game takes so much skill and you just go out in a horrible way. i mean, yes, he had a huge journey of getting revenge on his father but he just wiped over a whole army of talented people and doensnt make you feel better that much. sparing people is not the best but better than fighting them yet you have gotten so far and you change ur mind. but yang seemed to have no love for the MC and he somehow died from a heart attack. after he went to some mountain and had a breath which could have been his last breath but the screen went blank then saw the credits and saw the last scene with the MC’s bracelet on which someone could have stole. or the MC is still alive carrying his father’s name as Sifu

    Interesting how in fight with Yang the protagonist is losing to him through out the fight, so in the Kill option the MC surprises Yang when he was about to finish him, but in Spare option when it comes the Extra Fight the MC beats Yang fair and square without the pendant, which shows that the MC surpassed Yang because MC not only beat him but even spared him, this was when he discover Wude

    I really wish they used a similar system from MGS3, that not only do the bosses matter, but also the goons/soldiers you fight. You kill about 150 people just so you can fight some old magic dude and then forgive his life. It’s a bit odd to me
