Sifu Paul is Back!

I spent some time recently in San Diego and got some training in with Paul Vunak.
we spoke for some about the new material being released through his upcoming webinars & his thoughts on JKD and Martial Arts.
The depth of his knowledge is vast, and as ever always puts things you need to know in the simplest way. After all, that is the essence of Jeet Kune Do.

Paul Vunak is one of the many 2nd Generation JKD guys I have high regards for. Trained by Sifu Lee's close friend Dan Inosanto. People like Ron Baliki, Diana Lee Inosanto, Dwight Woods, Burton Richardson, Frank Tucci, Cass Magda. and also the Seattle guys that are too numerous to name. JKD is not a style, it's just a way to survive or defend yourself, anyone who says he's not JKD just doesn't know what it is not way more than doesn't not than what it is.

Ive seen utube videos of pupils of this guy and they say he is a asshole and not a nice guy.but all the videos ive seen of him he seems a nice guy .he is doing a video here to tell people what he and this gentleman are going to do in a 1 hour webinar and condense it down to a 3 minute video explanation, paul seems to have people trying to take him down a peg or 2 at any opurtunity they get.if he stared at the guy during the interview people would say he is confrontational and aggressive, ive been a fan of pauls since i seen him in a video bashing a guy with a helmet on 🤣🤣🤣,you never know he migth just save your life in a violent situation someday. I have used his tactics in a real life situation and dont think i would be writing this if i hadnt, thanks paul

When he says bjj is best hes not talking about sport bjj ,he only trained the basic gracie style, starting back in the late 80s,early 90s.

Gracie lost to several catch wrestlers. I'd take catch over BJJ, but BJJ is still excellent.

Tim Tackett moved back east in 2022; many of his students are still here on the left coast but Tim is well connected back east. Chris Kent is alive and well in Idaho. No, he doesn't hear from either of them.

This. Vanuk doesn’t teach Bruce Lee’s JKD. He never did. He’s another mixed martial arts concepts guy. Dan had created students who have nothing of the attributes, or who follow the principles of JKD. Everything I’ve seen of vanuk is sloppy. His footwork, all the kali crap, it’s nothing like what Bruce taught or practiced himself. You’re right, Dan didn’t underhand what Bruce taught him or was trying to tell him.

@Rapid Assault Tactics UK jkd yes jkd is not adding arts like he has been saying for years sure look how was his teacher they say you become the same as the teacher and it’s near killed jkd bruce did check out other arts before Jkd concept s have split the Jkd community in half for or against that my friend is no good Bruce would not be happy with this his art is simple and direct

@yogurt brooks jr JKD is Bruce Lee’s martial art. He taught all his students the same thing. Becusee he was teaching them HIS martial art. HIS approach. There is no “your” JKD. There is Bruce Lee’s JKD. If you want to do something else and mix a bunch of stuff together that doesn’t blend together or work in practice, that’s fine. But that’s MMA. Not JKD.
