I also wanted to comment on Clay's incredible musical ability. The first break after the second chorus, everyone just kinda stood there looking at each other for a second like "Ok, so who's going to take a break???" then after several seconds of silence go by Clay steps up, picks up where the break was supposed to be and doesn't miss a beat. Gotta love it! These guys are great!
That's part of what is great about bluegrass music. It is a community thing, even up on a stage, and not a stiff performance. This is a jam session with incredibly talented players --- fun for them, fun for us. They would play the same way if thousands of people were there or no one were there.
Sierra Hull shows why she is a mandolin protégé and has awesome vocals as she shares the stage with Adam Steffey,Ron Block, Clay Hess Ron Stewart and John Bowman. Thanks for sharin.

I'm sure you really mean prodigy; a protégé is something quite different.

And in fact she's not either one any more. She USED to be a prodigy, now she's a fully-realized world-class musician: mandolin, voice, song-writing, producing, and overall enhancing the world through music.
I love it when two monster banjo players work together and not step on each other. Wish more people in local jams would understand that concept.
Great sound and Sierra is just a treasure to hear on the mando. charlie tew, raleigh,nc
It just speaks to the selfless camaraderie and community which is American Bluegrass music.
I was lucky to be there inside the Cumberland Caverns to hear these two bands live. Great Show!! They joined forces at the end.
I see Sierra play and I simply melt!
Sierra is amazing.I saw her at the Capital Theatre in Greeneville,Tn in December with Barry Bales and friends.Great concert
i just don't know where to begin to say how much she blows me away. so young and up there with others that have been playing way longer
I love watching Ron Block and the other banjo player (not sure of name) go back and forth on licks. I love that lick around the 2:51 mark from the player in the back. Cool!

That banjo player in the back is not only one of the bluegrass foremost banjo players, he is a monster fiddle player too. His name is Ron Stewart.
Clay killed the guitar blast. Love it. Ron Block is amazing.
Sierra’s break is just plain awesome!
Just saw both of these bands in Portland yesterday. Sooooo much talent between the two!

Underground. Some men spent most of their lives underground, for the sake of the wife and children. Suckers, yes. But the best kind. Bless 'em.

Just saw Sierra at Grand Ole Opry a few weeks ago. If I weren't fat, bald, old and poor, I'd ask her to marry me.

shoot, don't let that stop you. you didn't mention ugly so i'm sure you're quite a catch. i have all your great qualities and have to add mentally challenged and ugly to my description. i guess it could be worse but i don't want to think about it.
@hallmark498 - Lots of power in a petite little package!
I wonder if Keith meant to sing the second verse again... Even the pros make boo-boos sometimes! They were having a blast though, that's what I like to see.
It would seem the boys are making good-natured fun of Sierra's vertically-challenged stature (3:16)!!
HAY DELLA GET THE PICTURE
@MegaBigdodge Its a Adi/Mahogany Rick Hayes dreadnaught.
SUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@darmp64 Cumberland Caverns.
um…Ron Block, though a great flat picker, is the banjo player on this vjd, 4 what it's worth
You can't find two better banjo players...
she can"t help stsnding out with what she doe
it is not exactly an osborne classic. it is an older song than that. certainly flatt and scruggs did it before. i don't really know if it is even original to them.

It is an Osborne classic. Bobby Osborne wrote it.
Are you trying to imply that they shouldn't have a good time?
she
fine musicians together on one stage -- but why the pedestrian tempo? too slow -- and solos lack inspiration and soul, including Hull's cautious overly-refined work. And why oh why is she guffawing on stage when the singers are trying to engage the audience with the song? I thought the audience comes first -- not the musicians and their egos. Maybe it's ok so long as you're a cute young thang....
