Is there nothing that Sierra can't play on a mandolin? Her talent is jaw dropping!! And she makes it look so effortless! Her voice is beautiful, her personality seems so great, and she is so pretty!! She is a total blessing! Magical!!
Hearing that just confirms how many hundreds of years ahead of his time Bach was!

his level of understanding of musical composition is still higher than the entire musical knowledge of the top 100 pop stars combined and its 2020, and i mean, i subscribe to the church of van halen where our lord eddie once proclaimed "if it sounds good, it is good" but, i'm sure if Bach was still alive/bought back to life, that'd be something to brag about lol.

Why did he have to be ahead of his time? What was wrong with his own time? Perhaps he was behind.
How cool is Sierra though, smiling through the shred so effortlessly like it's someone just strumming wonderwall 😂

@@kaialoha Mandolin is usually played pick style, but i get your point. This piece is played on the classical guitar with the fingers, and you have to have great technique to play it well.

It's not that hard
"That's all I've got for now." Thank you kindly, ma'am, that's a gracious plenty.
One of the best mandolin players on the planet and she is also a very sweet person in real life.
Love that part with 2 melodies and the drone talking to each other, but it's all 16th notes lined up in a row. A musical tesselation with all the pieces fit together snugly - no gaps!
I’m not worthy. I think I’ll go sell all my instruments now. Seriously that was amazing👍🏻👍🏻
Sierra and Chris Thile blow my mind. Virtuosos. Absolutely beautiful music.
Bluegrass Bach! I love it. She’s an amazing player.
You blow my mind, always thinking out the box. You are ART!
Just breathtaking.
Pure joy.
as a classical orchestral musician this so appeals to me! you have real musicianship. and I LOVE your voice! loved your rendition of "mad world" too!
Amazing work, as always. Sierra is such a treasure.

Love you Sierra, thank you for making my morning start to smile again.
Bach is excruciatingly difficult but you play it effortlessly. The mark of a great musician. You look like you're really enjoying Bach. Good for you! Cheers.

Could this channel be, like, 45% Bach music on mandolin like this? Because this was great! Paradoxically both perky and soothing.

You, lady, are just too good!!
Beatiful!!!!! Bach is Bach!!!!
Wow! Awesome!
Bach's first paying gig was as a violinist. All of his sons played the violin except the one who was left handed, Johann Christoph I think. He probably taught the violin along the same lines as he taught the Harpsichord: Six months of four note patterns, hands static, in all positions and all keys, quite like Liszt's technical exercises for Piano. I've tried to replicate this Method in my series called "Gripology" for Jazz Violin. What I have found starting as a Bluegrass fiddle player, who got into Bebop with out classical training, is that Classical Training is more geared towards playing Paganini rather than Bach. And this is born out in comments by Henrik Szeryng and Nathan Milstein that "You have to adopt Unconventional Fingering to play Bach!" For me, the big thing was not that it was "unconventional" rather that it was Chromatic based rather than Diatonic. The pedagogy, or approach, to playing the Unaccompanied Bach is really only shared with a Lucky Few, so it can seem Monstrously Difficult! But on the other hand, since I played guitar(flat picking,) I was able to use that knowledge to learn the Prelude in E and the Presto in G minor on the Violin. I just totally ignored the fingering and the bowing and tried to learn it like I would learn Donna Lee for instance, on the Guitar.
Love it. Sounds great on the mandolin.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how it’s done.
That was badass. Thanks!
Beautiful done. !
Blessings to You and Justin.
Lovely I enjoyed your playing very much all the practice made perfect.
You’re such a boss on the Mando… keep shredding ! Once I picked up the Mandolin I was hooked and instantly upgraded my instrument. Went from metal style to fast picking on Mandolin and it worked out GREAT and was able to find our band with all sorts of roots to start a band that’s more “newgrass” and different style than any band and it’s done us wonders for our following.
She is just gifted.
nailed it!!!
Sierra Hull has no boundaries with Her Awesomeness. Genres can't contain her
So much talent in such a tiny little lady....incredible! God outdid himself there!💖👍
Thank you for the inspiration this morning! Beautifully played. I'm a guitarist/pianist/vocalist and just took up mandolin this past week. Wish me luck and thank you again for this lovely performance. Pairs really well with coffee btw!
I love the sound of this instrument! Its like a Banjo, but less...banjee

It's more like a violin. Banjee should be added to the dictionary though.
Real talent!
Fabulous.
"Simply amazing☺
Sierra is a breath of fresh air. A delightful girl indeed and just exudes confidence . Plays beautifully as well as being beautiful herself. A real find on here.
Normally I surf guitar videos but now and then check an mando one. That was so clean and smooth. Great job.
In case you’re wondering, this is more or less the first half of the fourth and last movement of Bach’s third violin sonata.
vibin while shredding some bach with such ease, real queen shit ngl
Imagine Bach, with his wig, entering the church with a mandolin and saying: "Hey guys, I've something new"

Dog Wolf: of course, you may be aware they did have mandolins back then. I'm thinking about Vivaldi's compositions for mandolin and two mandolins. Classical on mando is legit!

He could play violin so could probs knock out a tune on mandolin.

@@Iazzaboyce Not even a vague problem. I played mandola in a classical orchestra. Never played violin in my life. Picked up a viola and could playe exactly the same stuff pizzicato on it. Also upset a salesman in a guitar shop by playing an instrument I'd never seen before. He told me, if you play guitar, you'll not be able to play this. A Goldtone Octave mandolin which was bizarrely in tune GDAE. Gave him a quick classical run down and almost bought if. But he was a bit rude so decided not to.
