I completely agree with Amanda on the topic that Black people carry trauma in our DNA. I am a Nigerian scholar whose interest is on African and African American studies. I just completed a research on epigenetics and trauma. Studies have revealed that when a group goes through any traumatic event of historical proportions, the generations that follow carry trauma in their genes passed on to them from their ancestors. We carry this trauma as a result of centuries of the slave trade and many decades of colonial rule.

Kandi has put so many of her friends and family on and has helped so many people be successful. I don’t know why members in her group won’t trust her when it comes to the business of the group! She’s noticeably successful in all her businesses! I honestly feel that Latocha always wanted to go solo, but she continues to go about it the wrong way, which is why God never blessed her moves. Tamika has finally found her voice and recognized that her sister was costing her her bag! And trying to receive her mothers love by standing by her sister even when she was wrong, has made her mature and move differently. I believe Tiny is willing to work with the group and Kandi. Latocha needs to swallow her pride (Pride comes before the fall!) and stop letting her husband cause her to make ungodly decisions and boost her head ! She is not bigger than the group!! And although she has a beautiful voice, it cannot be heard over her shananigans! Please recognize the gift that God has given you all in this group, swallow pride, pray, go to therapy as a group, get all husbands out the business and go be great!!!❤❤❤

@Noise_floorxx I don't think Kandi is an Anti Therapy advocate. I think she understands what works for her and is confident enough not to agree. Therapy is definitely a tool, but it takes many tools to build a stable home. Nothing is absolute. Therapy is awesome and useful, but not for everyone, and that's okay. We have to allow people the space to use what works for them and respect that even if it goes against our personal principles or practices. The ultimate goal is just to simply do the work, rather that be Therapy or in Kandi's case it could be stepping on stage and singing. Who knows...

@cinema-q Fair assessment, my question for you is what is the end goal? Is it to simply say you go to therapy or to actually heal and gain tools to be a better version of yourself. If someone path to healing is not your style of therapy they should not be judged for not fitting into a narrative that reflects someone else's solution to a problem. I know the difference between the two just as much as I'm comfortable with being an independent thinker and doing what works best for me. I love that there's more way to be a better human. I appreciate your feedback. I welcome difference of opinions.

I guess as when explains the discomforts of the group and Amanda goes 'well, therapy' and she says 'that is something therapy would fix, wouldn't it?' it kind of makes sense why she's 'ignorant'. It doesn't sound like she's aware of the traumas that has and that black people experience, as well as what Amanda is trying to explain to her. Maybe it's a matter of being educated a bit more. It's kinda sad to see folk not realise what they're going through.

When I had my sons they were petrified of dogs and had never had a personal experience with a dog so I did not understand but I asked myself "what if they're afraid of dogs because of me?" Same with heights, I had a huge fear of falling from high places and my sons were the same. I was always mad at myself because most boys often aren't afraid of everything. Mama Joyce may be a narcissist and that may be the reason therapy "didn't work" for them. Anyone who's ever dealt with a narcissist says that family therapy only makes things worse because they get mad when you expose their behavior to outsiders. That doesn't mean that individual therapy for Kandi herself wouldn't be beneficial. Therapy only works if all parties involved are willing to do what it takes. If you bring someone to therapy with you who is determined to not listen or admit fault, that's a "them" problem, not a therapy problem. Therapy only works on willing participants. It isn't magic.

Kandi spoke on issues that would be discussed in therapy but I think because she is use to pushing through and being the leader when underestimated I think she created coping mechanisms and a mindset that helped her to thrive in tough times. And when you think about she often shares that she didn’t have others that she can depend on to assist her and she has helped to put other people on. With that said, I don’t know how else to say this but I noticed that Kandi has a knot on her neck. It may be nothing but I hope she gets it checked out by a doctor. I love Amanda and I have grown to really appreciate Kandi. Unfortunately I was one who grew up thinking Kandi “slept her way to the top “ and I hate that for me ..and her . Those rumors really stained her perception so I am SO glad she is being vindicated . I know it must feel good to know everyone is seeing what you have been saying for years.

30:37 Kandi!!!! Amanda has had this conversation with you before on speak on it but in a different context about colorism. Kandi has Been rich for a while and a lot of black rich ppl sometimes are removed from the day to day of being black in America because of their privilege. Hard for me to explain

Right, a great deal of black celebrities gave said racism doesn't exist and all of a sudden become colorist. I remember when Lil Wayne said that racism doesn't exist in his world. Of course you're treated differently, you have money. The only time we're tolerated is when we have money or we're making them money.

Great point Amanda, young me being an Xscape fan, and adult me being a fan of your evolution. Adult me is indifferent to adult Kandi's RHOA tenure. Girl Groups break up bc intentions and expectations are not defined and because they do not seek therapy--crisis averted. Kandi is cool but these worlds should never collide again. Amanda's versatility made this a great interview. Adult me doesn't want to hang out with my 16 yr old self and shoot the shit! I love their music but that's as far as it goes. I read comments and people frequently say Kandi is relatable and nonproblematic. I feel that Kandi simply isn't intellectually stimulating, which makes her unrelatable. Great job Amanda, explore, pitch, sell this idea, case study girl groups, and why they break up on a larger platform. Have them cut the check and I would definitely check in.

It’s the legacy group comment for me. I want to see the groups of my youth perform well into my placement at the senior home! And therapy is simple. Therapy is a tool. Receiving treatment and successfully using the therapy specific tools to thrive is no different then receiving primary medical care. And very much like primary medical care, if skipped or abandoned it could possibly result in some of the same issues skipping primary care does.

Xscape, Mama Joyce, and the disrespect that is allowed from Mama Joyce toward her husband tells everybody Kandi don’t believe in therapy. Sis, we love you but there is a certain toxicity in communication that you both perpetuate and allow from others that could easily be fixed in therapy.

Amanda Seales and her authentic energy and her entire presentation.. I started following HER career because she was introduced to my life through (Insecure) and when the show was over there had been some comments about her at a club when she had to fend for herself because the cast from the show were being petty and rude... So when she started doing her rants and shorts. A while back I was hooked. Then I saw her stand up specials... The girl is the truth.... Spiritually gifted and like he I to feel like Ive been here living on this earth in a different time but it familiar
