My mother when take metformin after morning like in 3pm or later and more than 500mg then she vomits always in midnight,what to do?

I do not feel hungry and not habituated to take breakfast, and take my regular & full lunch directly with my prescribed diabetic medicine. Very light dinner with medication. But the doctor says, I must eat breakfast, lunch with medicine , and dinner with medicine. Please enlighten me, whether taking breakfast is mandatory, even if I do not feel hungry.
