“극장 밖에 노숙자들이 있는데 그냥 멋있는 춤을 만드는 건 너무해요.” 북아일랜드의 우나 도허티는 껄끄럽고 거친 춤을 춘다. 뒷골목 남자들의 공격적인 말투, 위협적 몸가짐, 과도한 남성성. 하지만 이는 상처와 좌절, 삶의 지루함을 감추는 얇은 천일뿐이다. 카라바지오
의 천사들은 바로 도허티의 고향, 벨파스트의 뒷골목에 있다. 보깅과 클래식 턴, 거리의 힙합이 어우러져 희망을 외치는 그녀에게 춤은 기도이다. 2017년 에든버러 페스티벌 수상작.

Oona Doherty from Northern Ireland doesn’t make just ‘lovely dance shows about dancing’. The aggressive assertion, hyper-masculinity of the disadvantaged males are just a thin veil that conceals their vulnerability. She creates a tableaux of angels in reality inspired by paintings of Caravaggio. Never didactic but makes the audience laugh at this aspirational solo. Awarded at the Edinburgh Festival 2017.
