    That's the right way to handle it! Most programs reward folks for that kind of dedication. I know mine does.

    Hi, I had a question regarding blurry images. If the object were very close to the xray but far away from the image sensor, would there be a limit where the image becomes blurry? For example, if I were to shine a torch at a wall and place my finger against the wall, the shadow of my finger is very sharp. But if I placed my finger close to the torch my finger's shadow becomes blurry. Does this effect also occur with xray imaging?

    Yes, the exact same thing happens in x-ray. The technical term is penumbra (or unsharpness).

    why we use graphite in rotating anode x ray tubes? a. for great inertia B. Heat capacity

    I'm not sure I understand the question. Regardless, graphite is a poor heat conductor. According to Carroll, high-speed x-ray tubes may include graphite bc it's lightweight. This makes it easier to begin anode rotation.

    what's the difference between SOD and SSD? do you only use SSD when the object is a person?

    Sure yeah. Source to skin distance is often used in radiation therapy in calculating skin exposure and bragg peak. For the purposes of magnification calcs in radiography, SOD is generally used.

    What happens when i decrease the tube to detector distance? Do i get a smaller field of view better resolution? I don't understand the effect of the Tube to detector distance and what happens if i increase and decrease it. I just wish that you could help me with that ;_;

    Great question. Decreasing SID tends to decrease resolution due to increased image blur. If no changes are made in collimation, the field will decrease in size.

    I'm looking at distortion of curve size on Scoliosis x-rays . My thinking is the bigger the curve is in reality (further away from the centre line), the bigger it's distortion will be n the X-ray film I need to know what the standard SID, SOD and OID is for fixed hospital X-ray set ups . Does anyone know ?

    I'd use Merrill's Atlas for your reference on SID. My guess is 72" (180cm). SOD and OID vary significantly due to patient factors.

    Effect of SID on Image Density?

  • @NaNoWriBros

    Help me understand the question... in digital imaging image density (aka brightness) and contrast are primarily controlled by the computer. Are you asking about the relationship between OID and exposure at the image receptor?

    For solving MF, the equation is MF=SID/SOD. If the question only gives me my SID (110 SID), and no SOD. How do I determine the MF? Is the question just missing information!?

    Possibly... does it give an OID? If so the SOD = SID - OID
