This is extremely impressive to me. Manipulating the C64's SID chip like this is absolutely insane. Also the waveforms are so intense that they scare me

This technique of quickly changing the waveforms/duty cycles during playback was also used by other composers on far less powerful soundchips.

That's probably because the NTSC C64's CPU ran at a slightly faster clock speed. However, the PAL C64 tends to be more compatible. PAL: 0.985MHz NTSC: 1.023MHz 1.023-0.985=0.038 Difference from PAL to NTSC: 0.038MHz

  • @adimifus

@@tredI9100 The difference in how it sounds is actually due to both the CPU clock and framerate difference. The difference in SPEED is due to the framerate. NTSC is 59.97fps and PAL is 50fps, so ~1.2x. The difference in PITCH is due to the clock speed. NTSC is 1.023MHz, PAL is 0.985MHz, so ~1.04x.

Or... If OVGen can load more than one wav file, he just recorded the audio all separately off the board, off a Sound Interface Device, Or off of a sound card, and fed the program the .wav files.
