Hey there Jon. You and Scott have great chemistry and is a great story how you met. You never know who you will meet it could just be your next best bud. Anyways, I have a criticism with your channel. Finding information that you provide is hard to find. I remembered watching you paint a mini and give an oil demo but could never find it... I just stumbled across it today. I would recommend that you do a playlist with the not clickbait title to get viewers as the category ?? Just a thought that may help others find your content better as you are really helpful at explaining things. Almost... Vince territory... almost. Thanks anyways, not sure if you will ever read this but hope you do.
You have done such a great job on these space marines, jon! I am so excited to play the next episode of kill team Challenger, and I promise I won't lose them LOL I hope this marks the beginning of a great working relationship between you and play on tabletop! Thank you so much for helping me slay the gray and, of course, until we see you again in the far-flung future of the Grimm dark universe, play on!

I knew I remembered hearing Jt saying "tiny ballerina hands" at some point, glad I remembered this comment (seriously)
Anybody else hear jon or scott say "Meat and Potatoes" and instantly start smiling and thinking "he said the funny words"

Top 10 collaboration videos of all time
Gotta love when people can have some fun with each other while enjoying their hobby.
With how easy those oil paints went on, I guess I'll give them a go when I upgrade my hobby space. Great Video!
That spin in the chair in the intro makes me laugh every time

Just the intro in general
Monument Hobbies is actually really close to where I live since they are in Arizona. My LGS where I work recently started carrying their products and I love how great they are!
As a military modeler/figure painter Iv been using oil/enamel paint and thinner on figures for 20 years ….I love that you do the same on this channel
That oil paint blend just changed my life, Jon. Damn.
I don’t even play 40k and I know you “HAVE to drill your barrels!” Lol Sweet video man keep them coming.
hilarious end :D "Slay the Gray" is becoming my daily mantra :D
Major bonus points for the Dodgeball reference. The painting tips brought me here but I'm staying for the banter and the cinematic deep cuts.
Sound clips at the end were priceless. Play On is always a treat to watch! As is your content!!
SO HAPPY you and Play On teamed up! I love those guys!
Oh my God, I keep coming back to this video to review the techniques used. This stuff is golden!
BIG thanks for this trick! I already started to use oils for fast and easy shading, now you introduced highlighting with oils and I really want to try it as soon, as possible!
You and Scott are the reason I got into the hobby and I couldn’t be more thankful. Keep up the great work.
I've watched play on tabletop for awhile, nice on the the crossover. Your talent is superb, Steve definitely got more than he deserved.
I love the commentary from JT. The tips on oils are also super useful, thank you.
i really love how you do a lot of things that i haven't seen any other mini painters do, and honestly thats one of my favorite parts about this hobby and other things, im on the wrestling team for my school and one of the coolest parts is seeing all of these different styles that people create for themselves under the same sport. So seeing the clearly different styles and processes of a mini painter really tickles that same spot.
Hi, I'm Jon, and welcome to the Mayo Clinic's guide to trolling Play on Tabletop's voice-over guy. That ending was spectacular hahah!
I'd love to see more oil content. I know I'm probably the minority of viewers, but they're so great to work with and there's so little content dedicated to using them. I switched to using artist oils for most of my painting a while ago and wish I'd done it sooner. Very different than acrylics, but really satisfying for my preferred process. Thanks for all your content
I quite like these videos. It’s nice to see techniques with oil paints that aren’t normally shown when compared to creating complicated blends with acrylics. Keep it up!
Great job, love your explanations of each step and using the oils.
SO the big thing I am learning is how important it is to understand the material you are working with. I think incorporating oils into the mini is an amazing way to create blended highlighting. Thanks for posting this!
Seriously fantastic quality vids mate. Love that you just get shit done and don't over theorise, potentially dissuading people from giving it a crack themselves. Keep it up man, love it.
Stunning result! I love to watch you paint, so much good advice and you are madly skilled.
The intro had my laughing hysterically. Which was fun to explain, since I was at work... And of course when you're down to the wire, you've got to give it all you've got!
I enjoy how you mix-up styles in your painting! Great video, cant wait for the next!
I like how your painting methods are quite unorthodox but easy to follow. The minis look great!
Nice. Appreciate the alternate methords of speed painting activities of normal painting videos.
Thanks so much! I'm really at a point where I am painting for speed rather than quality, but I also really enjoy well painted minis. I've been finding your videos very helpful.
Your sense of humor and approve to the hobby always puts a smile on my face! Never change good sir!
The bit with the extra commentary is my favorite. Great video! I love how you are combining acrylics and oils. But the pure gold of your laughter at the end. YAS!

Haha thanks! It was fun to listen to them for the first time on camera to get my real reaction 😂
Great result! Having just gotten into oils this video was perfect, something different to what I’ve been using them for (mainly just weathering). I’d love to see more videos involving oils.
I loved this collab!!! Both of the channels are great!
Looks great. I love how you bring oils into mini painting
It's so good to see scale model techniques being used for 40k painting. Excellent work on these marines.
I've been using tamiya panel liner recently. Sometimes I have to pop on a gloss coat for it to work correctly since it's made for enamel paint coats and bare plastic, but even with the extra steps it's so much easier than using garbage acrylic washes.
Perfect, I have been thinking about using oil rather than mineral spirits to thin down with, primarily for glazing and blends. Furthermore, there's a branch of oil painters that just use a soap compatible oil to clean their brushes in, and acrylic paints are used frequently in underpainting. You've convinced me to try oils sometime!
The humour in your videos is such a welcome thing in this hell of a year! Great vid as always dude!

Great use of acrylics and oil. This video was awesome and just the laugh i needed today.
Really enjoying the use of oils in your latest videos 😊 rapidly becoming my favourite mini painting channel
Woke up to a new Ninjon video! Awesome way to start my day. This actually makes me wanna try oils when painting minis! Love the Angels Revenant color scheme! Great video Jon!
Great presentation of fantastic techniques, very valuable video!
I need more videos on your Oil blending technique. Love what you did here!
What a pleasant surprise to see POTTs involvement! Also now I have to go buy oil paints.
I do this buffing!! But with my shadowing I didnt even know it was a thing. Man I feel pretty special that I'd been doing it all along!! Keep up the great work Jon!
Nice techniques with oilpaints, makeup sponges, and difumination blrnding using a dried brush. Very interesting
Thanks for posting this Jon, I often shy away from experimentation as I am anxious about messing up my models and have been up till now unsure of what materials to acquire in order to broaden my skills. I shall definitely be trying out some oils and inks during the winter holidays now 😊off to the local hobby shop I go!
A really great introduction to using oils in this manner. Thanks for doing this one.
Play on Tabletop puts out the best battle reports I've ever seen. Great to see this colab.
Loved the usage of the oils on the armor! Well done!
Really incredible work on the Space Marines! Those VO lines were inspired, some next level trolling.
Aaaaaand now I'm binging your videos and now I also want oil paints
Thanks Jon .. thoroughly enjoying your vids. Cheers from down under South Oz :)
Omg, those bytes at the end are pure gold!
Stellar video! I LOVE the collab choice (please do this again) the painting was amazing (curse you now I'm blowing all my money on new stuff) and throughout were good tips and good laughs. This is the gold standard for mini painting videos.

Inspiring video! I'm going to use this on my minis ⭐ Outstanding
Bro that freaking blending style?!?!? ive never seen it before and i cant wait to try it!!!
I really like that buffering technique for the highlights. I'll have to give it a go!
I had my doubts, but once you got into the meat and potatoes of the color scheme it really started to come together! Those blends look great.
John your vids are encouraging!!
Awesome video thanks for sharing....this is going to entice me to buy oil paints, that engine grease is gold.
incredible. I learned so much from this vid - you really have a knack for explaining technique.
I really enjoy watching all your videos Thank you
Rockin' that collabo GAME!
This is quickly becoming one of my favourite painting channels.
Recognised JT straight away. Great colab. Hopefully your paint job lifts Steve’s curse.

Oh it did not...
Awesome vid! I love the lines at the end
After years of mini painting it isn't every day you see a new painting technique. That oil highlight is not something I have EVER seen before. I've only ever really been using my oils as washes but.. huh. Gotta try that.
You are quickly becoming one of my favorite painting video/guide producers. This video is overall very well explained and made. Well done!

Love your videos Jon, I always learn something new
Your welcome line always makes me smile.
Great stuff jonny boy!
Awesomesauce. Going to take the plunge into oils now.
This is awesome and has inspired me to try using some oils I think!
This alone made me want to get some oils for mini painting. Amazing work 👏
Just got my Black Friday order from AK Interactive for a bunch of Abteilung 502s. I have only painted one mini with oils but I really enjoyed it.
Those are awesome makes me want to Try the oil paints and see how it goes!
For about 2 month i am suffering from paint fatigue and this video was exactly what i needed :) thx alot
So cool you're working with Play On!

I just want everyone to be a PLOPPER
Good job on the paint job. I dont really like the look of that white highlightning but its good to know that the technique exists, maybe i can try and find a way to make it more my style
I have heard so many comment on the quality of the Abteilung 502 Engine Grease Oil paint, definitely got to try it. My current favourite oil paint is Burnt Umber, brand doesn't really matter much as it varies so much from batch to batch anyway. Great video as ever Jon!
These definitely look nice! I would love to see this technique applied to some green wing Dark Angels. I've been struggling hard to get those Marines to look really good. I've tried multiple techniques that others have used but there are many that just use an airbrush. If you did a video on this Ninjon, I would be most appreciative 🙏
his speed painting looks better than 90% of miniatures ever painted
Wow Jon, Thanx for an amazing Video!
It always amazes me how much heavy lifting oil paints actually do, and how versatile they are. Pretty sure we'd all be tried for witchcraft if this was like 200 years ago
Those voice overs at the end were hilarious!
Good stuff Ninjon.
Very impressive. Thanks.
Why do I feel like either an adult film is about to pop off or a bad 90s detective show is happening when this music plays? Models look amazing.
That blending section was mind blowing
Once again, great vid.
