Finding it interesting how much Dr. G talked about entering private practice in order to treat all kinds of ED patients, and about how such a minority of ED patients are the stereotypically wealthy, white, and privileged. Her initial consult alone is $2500 for two hours

I'm sure insurance would be happy to cover that. Just kidding. I listen to this podcast on Spotify and then came to KZread to watch some of the video. I like to be able to put a face to some of the voices. Your comment completely changed my perception of this speaker. It's such a shame if true.

Seems true in general from her clinic’s website, but the FAQ page there says they offer some need-based discounted care spots

"Dr. Gaudiani’s session fee will increase to $300/25 min. session and her membership will increase to $6,000 year which includes a $3,000 expert consultation fee." Madness. Who the hell can afford these fees?

@@zelloyello6303 I don't think $300 per appointment is too far off compared to seeing other types of specialty care. But the 3k or 6k "membership" fee is bananas. What special service are they providing for that fee?

Absolutely love what Dr. Gaudiani is advocating in the eating disorder space. However, claiming that you can't have a well-balanced, nutritionally adequate diet while being vegan is demonstrably false.

I think you have to understand her audience. Her audience are people suffering from eating disorders- and those often switch to orthorexia.

I do understand that there could be a correlation between orthorexia and pursuing a plant based diet, but it just felt inappropriate to not include a clarification - especially given that nutrition science seems to be a particular focus of hers. Appreciate the work y'all are doing.

It could be a way of restricting calories. Hard to say what's causing it...but could be body image or self esteem problems. If it's something she's doing often it might be a good idea to check in with her in a nonconfrontational way and offer her counseling if possible.
