I have some Tunisian friends who told me that when they were kids and playing soccer they never heard an ice cream truck roll by like in America, but rather the sound of a horse meat sandwich truck, and they’d all stop playing their game on the spot and run to the truck to grab some food. Said it was absolutely delicious and quite the special treat.

Similar but different experience in Ljubljana, Slovenia. You know how every major city in the world has a city center park? Like Central Park in NYC? And how people go there and have ice cream or maybe a hotdog or something? Well, Ljubljana has a major park and they sling horse burgers. Young adults all have fond memories of sharing a horsey burger with grandpappy on a Sunday.

This is my birth town. Catania is such an amazing place. The local farmers market and meat markets are so amazing. The people, the food, the culture, the scenery. It’s all just so beautiful. Unfortunately I’m living in Florida at the moment but I’m planning on going back to visit my father who still lives there. Also horse steaks are absolutely delicious.

I'm from the UK and there was a huge scandal a few years ago because some big food shops were selling horse meat and saying it was beef lol. Nobody realised.

Yup! This is what the world needed!

In Parma we are used to eat cavallo pesto wich is raw grounded horse meat usually served in sandwiches. You would probably love it.

I live in the province of Siracusa, but my uncle who moved to Parma years ago once took me and a friend to eat in a taverna in Parma where I tried ground horse meat for the first time back in the 80s. Excellent!!! First experience with equine meat!

In Italian the "LL" sound is exactly as it is in English. Not the "ya" sound as in Spanish. So, it's "CavaLLo," not "CavaYo."

A tip for the next time you'll visit Italy: here the ll is pronounced exactly as written, like an l but more prolonged and pronounced (geminated would be the technical term). It's not pronounced like Spanish, which is what you did here for "cavallo"

You got to be careful when saying that in Sicily. Pistacchio, or ù pistacchiu in Sicilian dialect is very close to sticciu which is pussy!!! I got a pussy in my mustache!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I lived in Italy for 4 years, horse is absolutely delicious. I have never had it in meatball form but I would love to as that looks amazing!

Growing up with Sicilian heritage horse was a delicacy beautiful steaks on the bbq it's making my mouth water..Also fun fact but I was told they used to make mortadella with horse..Horse meat is alot better than people think..If you have the chance try it..👍

You won't find it in those places. Horse meat is not popular along the entire country, but it has some specific places where it's eaten and Rome and Florence are not one of those

I spent a summer in Sicily and once told the waiter to get me what he thought was the best. Brought out pistachio pasta with some meat. Didn't realize it was horse until after I ate it, and it was delicious. The other Americans I was with shamed me, but they didn't taste how good it was lol

My friends in Norway eat horse meat sandwiches that looks similar to roast beef. I really want to try it..looks pretty good.
