This is probably the most important interview for ME as a person who has held Tony in such a high place in my mind. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Tony when I was 10 years old in 1985. He STILL holds that spot. To hear Steve tell us of those early days is priceless. FOR TONY….Todd Falcon (Falcon Slide) is the one who showed me The Bones Brigade Video. We lived on the same street. He was the first person I ever saw skateboarding. He was launching over the front of his mother’s car.

As a 48 year old man returning to skateboarding after 30 years, Tony will ALWAYS be the GOAT to me. But his brother is a lot more rad than I initially thought. So hell yeah!

@@kingofoblivion1822tony will always be considered one of the best skaters ever because he did alot of stuff first, and when people weren’t doing crazy tricks as often. Todays skating is much more advanced and technical, but you can’t compare eras in sports.

Right!? I grew up an only child in rural BF KY. I'd given ANYTHING to have had an older brother that was as down as Steve to get Tony into skating and just being a big brother. Pretty rad.

This is an embraceable episode with Steve Hawk. He's had such a nuanced career marrying his two passions of writing and surfing. It can't be understated what a pillar he has been in the surfing community, helming two major institutions-Surfer magazine and the now behemoth Surfline. What a charmed life to have gone from being a hard-hitting journalist to an editor of a major publication to Hollywood, Stanford, novel writing, philanthropy, and environmental conservation. His sense of humor and adventurous spirit shines in his stories. Thanks for this.

man - i started skating in 82 and everyone I came up with and skated with is from a broken home or a half family or adopted - we were all the misfits hanging out being the family for each other we didn't have at home. Seeing the Hawk fam all tight and solid and working for each other and doing great things for skating as a whole is really heartwarming. Really goes to show you what a little love and encouragement can do for a person. thanks for being you dudes. and much respect to to Frank Hawk for raising such dope kids.

This is such a sweet display of brotherly love, but Jason's love for Tony is adorable. Still makes fun of him, like any friend, but you can tell he still sees him the way he describes seeing him as a kid and considers himself lucky to be friends with Tony. And of course, while Tony is more toned down than Jason, it seems like the love is reciprocated. So awesome to see such healthy male relationships.

Best part about this podcast is the respect and bigging up they give each other and all the other skaters too. It's so refreshing. Imagine having a brother who was just so supportive of everything you do, but still every now and then keeps you humbled. Calling Tony a pussy in a magazine totally reminding him who the boss really is! Sibling ball busting at it's best
