Plastique wasn't faking it though. It's a 3rd world country with high rates poverty during the 2000s. We had bigger problems to worry about then knowing who the fuck Beyonce or Mariah Carey were. It's not a English speaking country on top of that. I didn't know anything about USUK music or the LGBT lifestyle up until 2011 when Lady Gaga popped on the screen. That's when I decided to learn English (mostly through songs and movies) only then to discover more artists.

right! as someone also still living in a 3rd world country and even a bit younger than plastique, we had not a bit of knowledge of the beyonces and mariahs especially as a lower income family, not even knowing what they look like. so i would imagine that in her age group, older than me would also have no idea of pop culture. like we were busy surviving day to day mary, not everyone grew up with the same media u did.

@@user-wg2ep6nf2r she was 11/12 when she left (she said 2 years ago was the first time in 14 years), which is her entire young childhood. it takes a while to adjust and assimilate especially when you're learning a new language, it's not surprising that she took a few years to catch up with pop culture, especially in the late 2000s when social media wasn't so widespread

I miss Bob but I also love the different queens that we've gotten to hear from on the Podcast over the last few weeks
