The gate near the house (if that's what you mean) Tala jumps that no problem, there's also a 6ft gate that then leads to the front. That gates there because I look after peoples dogs for a living and that's a safety gate (no other dogs can jump it) all the fencing surrounding the garden is all 6ft as well.

But also there's many times both Tala and Skye have wandered out onto the front when the main gate hasn't been shut properly and they don't go anywhere, they mill about on the drive, or Tala pops next door to try and see their dog (who sadly passed away a year ago but Tala doesn't know that) if Tala gets out you just say bye then and she panics and comes back home straight away (she's too bonded with us to be out on her own)

@@soda4118 that's great, when you look for and find a breeder in your area, make sure the parents are health checked, because this breed can suffer with nasty illnesses. I hate it when people dump there believed dogs whether wolfogs or regular breeds, they all are sensitive and have feelings and it's no different to dumping a child. So so sad ☹

@Claire Murray I'm in the market for a dog, and the Czech Wolfdog is near the top of my list (the other being the Rhodesian Ridgeback). I was considering a Belgian Malinois, but while beautiful and SUPREMELY trainable, the Mal's energy level is said to be waaaaay too much, so the Mal is eliminated. That said, is your Wolfdog's temperament relatively calm (i.e. not batshit crazy/hyper)? I know the Czech Wolfdog isn't for everyone, but I want to get as much feedback from owners as I can, as THE last thing I wanna do is buy one, only to find out it's not for me, and then have it put in a pound. The guilt would eat me up if I had to do that.

It's so refreshing to hear that you're doing your research. As you'll know each dog has their own personalities and some can be more laid back then other all depending on their line (parents etc) Tala can be hyper at times but I'd say she's more laid back, but that could be because of her home life, she has older Skye as a sister (she's really laid back) but I also look after dogs at home as a business in the working day, so for all of Tala life with us, she's had the best of both worlds - human family and a large dog family. I know a lot of wolfdogs, some are calm, some nervous, some bouncy and some boisterous. It's the time you can give because they're every social animals and love being with you so the more you are with them and doing things with them then the less destructive and hyper they are. We have a UK wolfdog group, have a look for it on Facebook and ask to join, you can then ask this same question but gets a lot more opinions then just mine, you'll get to see what other Czechs are like as well. I wish you all the best in your decision and thank you for watching our videos as I love showing everyone what my girls get up to (they have their own Facebook page - Skye and Tala which has photos as well as videos which bring even more a true light on what my two are like). 😊😊

Yes some can bark very well! My girl can bark just like a GSD (which is part of her make-up) but it then turns into a strange woo/bark/woo/howl/bark depending on why she's doing it in the first place. I know of some that don't bark at all but instead woo/howl. Can be very loud which ever they do! Enjoy your beautiful CsV

@@bickle8931 oh they can bark due to the German Shepherd part of them, and they're bark is very deep and loud, they use that usually when there's a knock at your door, or they hear other dogs barking and they respond back. But they do howl as well.

Not just that. Take into consideration a German Shepherd with the uncommon recessive gene, "Reverse Mask" or "Wolf Mask". They're purebred, and don't contain any Wolf or husky DNA (though there are a myriad of mixes out there so choose accordingly to ensure that you do indeed have a genuine GSD). They have the appearance that's reminiscent of a Wolf or Wolfdog, but the structure of a GSD. The Hobo dogs are great examples of a purebred reverse mask GSD. It's just unfortunate they're not more popular. photos.app.goo.gl/nJxdo13UWf2qJtcf6
