🇵🇭 SIARGAO international Port Update ! Philippines gets BEST Cruise Destination in ASIA Award

Siargao is nearly ready to launch it's international CRUISE ship port after Philippines won the BEST Cruise destination in Asia award. We took a journalistic trip down to the construction site today to see what the real progress looks like in Dapa, Surigao Del Norte. Where the future of sea travel is going to take place on this beautiful island in Mindanao. The staff there told us that the Siargao international port will be finished in March 2024 and will allow direct boats from Manila to Siargao. This is exciting news.

@@teachmehowtodoge1737 Don't worry, it's definitely coming along! The Philippines had a total of 125 ports of call or cruise calls last year in 2023! Currently, cruise ship terminals in the Philippines which have the capacity and have actually received international cruise ships are the Port of Manila, Puerto Princesa Port, Port of Coron & El Nido Port in Palawan, Tagbilaran Port in Bohol, Port of Romblon in Romblon, Cagban Port in Boracay, Legazpi Port in Albay, Currimao Port in Ilocos Norte, Salomague Port in Ilocos Sur, and Port of Subic Bay in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. @@leomarlonestrada5954 Regardless if J and Sacha care or not, my comment is not just for them but for everyone watching this vlog and reading the comments! J and Sacha have not really been to these sea ports and places in the Philippines that I've mentioned so they're probably not aware of so I'm giving them updates. I do respect their opinion though and acknowledge the fact that the country still has a long way to go in terms of port infrastructures. I just wanna share some information about the flourishing cruise industry in the Philippines that they and their viewers probably don't know about or have no idea at all!

@@rm_alfaro Like I said, "They don't care about the Philippines. They just like the land and the CHEAP COST of Living." "I just wanna share some information about the flourishing cruise industry in the Philippines that they and their viewers probably don't know about or have no idea at all!" Actually, they do know a lot about these "pleasure" things. That is one of the reasons why they like the Philippines. This family just don't give a poop about the Culture, People and Language of the Philippines.

@@leomarlonestrada5954 Like what I've said, my comment was intended not just for J & Sacha but for everyone who cares to know or wanna learn something about the Philippines. Of course, the 8MFH family cares about Siargao and the Philippines in general because it's their 2nd home now and soon they will build their own house in Siargao as they've already acquired some land there. Just like everyone else, J & Sacha want the infrastructures on the island to improve and develop more for the people who live there including the locals and foreign nationals. You should know that J, Sacha & Story are good people and they're also helping the economy of Siargao just by staying there supporting the local businesses. They've also adopted and raised a local dog named Poppy Love. You know, the 8MFH family could have left Siargao during the pandemic or after Typhoon Odette hit the island but they chose to stay and helped rebuild the island by patronizing & supporting the local businesses there. Contrary to what you said, it's actually not that cheap to live in Siargao because the house rent, food & restaurant prices on the island are more expensive compared to the mainland depending on one's lifestyle. No matter what their true intentions are, I still appreciate the fact that the chose to stay in Siargao despite of everything! Just because they're not outgoing and don't interact much with the locals don't necessarily mean that they don't care! You know, people have different pesonalities and not all people are extroverts and outgoing, lol!

Very true, Philippines should encourage foreigners with cruise ship experience and Filipino seafarers with international experience in Europe to set up efficient cruise ship purchase and logistics systems, then the Philippines will truly begin to shine. Allow foreigners to work on the ships alongside the Filipino sailors with international experience, and set the benchmark tone of how it should all be run...

Palawan and Boracay by themselves likely secured the win. I mean people go to these cruises for the tropical beaches. And the contenders don't exactly come close to offering that. Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan, are awesome destinations but don't have tropical beaches. Thailand's beaches are few and overcrowded. Vietnam's, Sri Lanka's, and India's are nice, but not the postcard-worthy beaches you can find in actual islands. Even the beaches of Salomague Island, Ilocos (which aren't that well-known, but also has a cruise port) eclipse theirs by orders of magnitude. If they just wanted to tour cities, they'd just take a plane. A cruise ship comes with an expectation of the sea, sun, and the beach. If Indonesia had joined, then it would have given the Philippines a run for its money. At least for _Eastern_ indonesia. Bali doesn't exactly have nice beaches either.

It's good to know that an international port is shaping up but I'm not sure what the govt or the LGU is thinking when in terms of developing Siargao. They are building a sports complex and an international port when they don't even have a decent hospital. Locals and tourists have to go to Surigao for treatment when the district hospital cannot attend to their needs. This is very basic infrastructure when developing an area where tourism is it's revenue. (Shake my head)

There are many foreign cruise ships that has been going to Manila, Iloilo, Boracay, Palawan, etc. There is even a cruise line like Norwegian Cruise Line that has a departure from Manila. You guys need to read more. You think you’re so worldly and so above it all, but you sound so ignorant. Maybe there is no high end domestic cruise ship yet in between the little islands in the Philippines, but large cruise lines has been going there for a long time now.

yeah, I think the Philippines is not yet ready for that. We have to invest in more infrastructure for tourism as well and it takes time for our government to do that.

The aim of progress and development in the country is to move forward and socially transform communities, cities and provinces without encroaching cultural tribes and national heritage so as to maintain that traditional vibe and local history of the local community. I think that can be done.....a mix of the the modernity and old-fashioned lifestyle.

Siargao is becoming a world tour destination and that port should be of international standard. What we saw in your vlog is narrow road leading to the port, it should be at least four lane road.

I share in your frustration Jay and Sacha, but the owner of 2Go is Aboitiz, the leaders of Philippine Ports Authority are all related in one way of another to the current leaders of the PH. I dont want to be political about it, but it really is heartbreakingly hard these days. NOTHING is happening. NOTHING is being done. EVERYTHING, though is PR. So as much as I'd like to commend our country for the award... Sadly, that's just that- - - PR.... And the waiting for another breakthrough and visionary leader continues.😊

It's actually not just in Manila! Currently, international cruise ships dock in the Port of Manila, Puerto Princesa Port, Port of Coron & El Nido Port in Palawan, Tagbilaran Port in Bohol, Port of Romblon in Romblon, Cagban Port in Boracay, Legazpi Port in Albay, Currimao Port in Ilocos Norte, Salomague Port in Ilocos Sur, and Port of Subic Bay in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is also constructing additional cruise ship terminals in Palawan, Boracay, Siargao, Camiguin, Cebu & Puerto Galera in Mindoro to accomodate larger ships and ensure a safe and more comfortable travel experience for passengers. Unfortunately, J and Sacha have no idea because they have not been to these seaports and places I've mentioned.

A lot of port international cruises That visit Philippines like In Subic bay or some part in other provinces. AS you See Philippines is not a parliamentary or Federal system yet so each proposal for project for the intire Philippines Will be approve by the congress and senate first. So each project for any insfracture CAN be take years unless otherwise OUR Constitution CAN be Change. If OUR system Will be change is easy to emplement any project or emprovement for each provinces.. Thats the problem perhaps in my country . But we Filipinos have to be positive and help our country.. Pardon my English and grammar

It's not really about the number of islands but the capacity to receive cruise ships like having the proper facilities like international seaports, safety & convenience, tourist attractions that visitors can visit, how the cruise passengers were received or treated by the people of the host country and their overall experience in that particular cruise destination.
