After a short performance test, I absolutely recommend this mic to anyone interested in it. Remember you are paying for the image as well as performance. This mic both looks great and sounds great !! It's clear and definitely NOT an SM58 despite the what the guy at the music store tells you. My side by side comparison revealed that the SM-58 was not as clear and a bit muddy compared to this Super 55 Deluxe.

Keith, i have the Shure Super 55, connected to the Behringer Xenix mixer; i was thinking to buy the Thomann " Fet amp" to increase decibels and lowing the hum, on their E Mail reply, they told me that the mixer is ok because it has inputs for Phantom Power, but they did not tell me if i can connect the Shure Super 55 that is an hypercardioid mike and IS NOT pre powered like professionals studio microphones. Do you have any idea if i can connect my Shure to the Fet Amp and the Behringer mixer or will i make a disaster? Thank you so much for your help, regards, Patrick from Italy

Hello 👋 Although the Super 55 does not require phantom power you can have phantom power on and it will still function fine. The mic itself is pretty hot. I don’t see a need for adding an amp like this one however I have not tried it (on this mic) so there could be benefits. I have not used a FetAmp or anything similar on my microphones. There are pre amps that give you a “tube” sound that can really warm up the mic. They often have EQ, compression, phase settings, and so on but they can be expensive. I’ve used the Joe Meek 1Q on my microphone (SM58) for years to get that sound. The Super 55 will respond the same way with similar preamps. The FetAmp appears to be a DB booster. Though it will have a subtle effect on the tone it will be limited. It’s real benefit is to add that extra boost and this can help boost your signal if you are running long cables, or you need more gain in the channel like when recording. It also filters out hiss and such. Again I don’t have that issue with the Super 55 The issues arrive when you don’t adjust your mixer or amp settings for the increased gain etc… that can cause feedback and tonal issues etc… and there are some microphones that it is not compatible with. The FetAmp is not expensive like those rack units but it’s limited in function. Think of it as an in line filter that has a boost. It will work fine with the Super 55. I like the lower noise feature on this thing 😎👍 I hope this helps, please let me know. 🙏🏻

I will probably buy the Fet Amp, because it looks practical to use, and i need to " push" my voice louder, without screaming ( overall i can't make it anymore, when you get older.....) although the sliders of the Behringer Xenix mixer are at the maximum position, and the active loudspeakers the same, i have to make huge efforts to be heard, and i can guarantee you that our amplifiers are not so loud !
