It’s is amazingly unbelievable that in all of the videos I’ve seen about this mic, nobody bothers to mention the important fact that if you want to record a video on landscape mode (widescreen) , you have to rotate the mic because if not when recording in stereo the left and right are actually going to be pointing up and down

My question is this so do I need to use the Motiv video app to actually record video and use the Shure mic or do I do the Shure mic settings using Motiv and then use my iPhone X’s camera to shoot video and it will then use my Shure’s mic to override my iPhone’s Mic?? Trying to figure out the best sequence: To use my iPhone X’s video with the mic or to use Shure’s video app to use the mic?

I had amazing results with this microphone but lately I can't get the same results. I only use it for band practice or live performances. Lately though, the results are too boomy or too low or both. Somebody help, please.

Hi. I’m looking for a mic for using with iPhone 14pro for bushcraft video. So stereo is important because of surrounding. If I understand correctly, mv88 stereo will work not left-right but up-down because of the way how mics are located right? Just imagine that you are recording video horizontally with iPhone main camera. So you need to rotate mv88 to the scene. How stereo mics will be located: left-right or up-down? Thanks for the answer. P.S. can you compare it with Rode stereo pro (not X)?

Very useful review! Just curious... does it have a ducking feature... as well as band pass control? That's the devil in these items. Plus using as a handheld unit for interviews noise cut for handling is important. What do you think the battery life is when A/V vs say mono audio? That's sort of a drawback of this config. That audio separation test was also very helpful. Thanks!

I don't think it had a ducking feature. I believe it does have EQ settings though. I didn't test the battery life impact while using the mic, but I can assure you it will significantly decrease what you're iPhone provides.

I use Backpack Studio for all my recordings so my question would be since the settings are app based via Motiv shure app would the settings still work while using a different third party app such as Backpack?

I just picked one of these up and I'm trying to determine what the best setting for recording my improv shows is. Two things I'm concerned with are ensuring it picks up all the performance aspect, but the audience laughter doesn't drown it out. Assuming there is laughter. It is improv, after all. Thanks!

If you have this on stage pointing towards the performers, then a wide setting should work fine, and then you can make it mono in post.

Question When I record there’s a certain fuzziness sound I hear, even during silence. Not sure if it’s fuzz or static is the accurate term. How did you get rid of yours? It sounds very smooth and crisp. There’s no fuzziness. Or am I I just getting ahead of myself? Lol

We use a MEVO camera that is run through an app on the iphone. Are we going to be able to use this mic if we have to have the MEVO app open to record?

I have a doubt, if i want to record on the GarageBand App, how do i record with the MV88 while listening with headphones the click/other tracks?

Question: is this a good choice for having a mic set up about 1.5 ft away? Is there a better option?

good video. i bought one but returned it since it won't work with any iphone or ipad in a case. although the sound was pretty good, I get much better recordings out of my tascam digital handheld. in the end, it all depends on what you want to do with it. I also found this mic to me a little hollow-sounding and not too real or full. i'm picky. been into film and audio engineering for years. great channel you have!

Will the mono-bi directional works only in vertical mode?Because before that you placed your phone horizontally and later switched to vertical for checking the bi directional preset for interviews. Please let me know about it as i am planning to buy this microphone for vlogging and interviews.

Play pedals and use a deluxe reverb. What mic would you recommend for a hobbyist that wants to record through their iPhone for ease of use. Not interested at this point in setting up my computer and mics just for creating ideas. Thanks
