Shunkaen Bonsai Museum 春花園BONSAI美術館 | Tokyo, Japan | 4K Tour
👋 Hello! Today, Jiji goes to Shunkaen Bonsai Museum in Edogawa, Tokyo! We spent a warm Sunday afternoon in this serene garden filled with bonsai collection by master Kunio Kobayashi. The entrance fee is ¥1000 and it's very much worth it. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. They even offered us tea and crackers while we were sitting under the shade reading some of the books they have about bonsai~ We even got to witness the bonsai master himself and some of his bonsai artist apprentices at work ✂️🌳

📖 The Shunkaen Bonsai Museum is a renowned bonsai museum located in Tokyo, Japan. It was established by master bonsai artist Kunio Kobayashi and is widely regarded as one of the finest bonsai museums in the world. The museum showcases a diverse collection of bonsai trees, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience into the art of bonsai.
The museum itself is set within a traditional Japanese-style building and features both indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces. The indoor gallery displays a range of bonsai trees, each meticulously cared for and beautifully presented. These miniature trees are carefully pruned and shaped to represent natural landscapes, with intricate attention to detail and aesthetic balance.
In addition to the bonsai displays, the museum houses a comprehensive library dedicated to bonsai culture and history. Visitors can access a vast collection of books, magazines, and resources about bonsai, offering insights into the techniques, history, and philosophy behind this ancient art form.
Kunio Kobayashi, the founder and curator of the Shunkaen Bonsai Museum, is renowned for his expertise and innovative approach to bonsai. He has won numerous awards for his work and has been instrumental in promoting bonsai as a global art form. Master Kobayashi occasionally offers workshops and demonstrations at the museum, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn from a true master.
The Shunkaen Bonsai Museum is not only a space for displaying bonsai but also a center for education and cultural exchange. It attracts bonsai enthusiasts from around the world, who come to appreciate the beauty of the carefully nurtured trees and to deepen their understanding of this centuries-old Japanese tradition.
Visiting the Shunkaen Bonsai Museum offers a chance to immerse oneself in the serene and contemplative world of bonsai, where nature and artistry come together to create living masterpieces.

Hi! Thank you for your concern! We visited on a day when they happened to be doing some maintenance and housekeeping, but we think that the staff still did a great job at keeping the place pretty neat and tidy overall 👍🏼 The garden also has a very organized layout, but it’s difficult to capture all at once, so we highly recommend everyone to pay a visit when you have an opportunity to do so 😊
This is a backyard, not a museum.

What a comment you made
Never work the camera again. These trees have grown for decades and you can't even give them the respect of a little camera time. Just strolling past.. Bonsai is to be admired and this video hardly let's us do that

Hello! Thank you for your feedback. We actually spent the whole afternoon at Shunkaen Bonsai Museum on the day that we went, but at some point we decided to put our devices down. Aside from admiring the bonsai, we also had the opportunity to talk to the staff, enjoy some tea and snacks they offered, check out the gardening books, and just observe the bonsai masters and apprentices at work. They have a large collection of bonsai and we simply didn’t have enough time to cover everything. And our camera cannot do justice of how amazing our experience was. We still wanted to share this video for other enthusiasts to see and maybe inspire them to learn more about bonsai or the museum, and maybe even visit the place themselves in the future, if they can. And as creators, we are also learning from each video that we make. We really appreciate you taking your time to give us feedback, and we hope to be better at it next time.
