2 hour Lovecraftian soundscapes in the form of Shub-Niggurath by Cryo Chamber.

👉Album Playlist: • Shub-Niggurath
A 2 hour dark soundscape album recorded by 20 ambient artists to pay tribute to H.P. Lovecraft.
Dark sounds from dreamy dimensions to never ending cursed forests. Join us in the ritual of lust for the Black Goat of the Woods.
Shub-Niggurath is an Outer God (or Outer Goddess) in the pantheon. She is a perverse fertility deity.
An enormous mass which extrudes black tentacles, slime-dripping mouths, and short, writhing goat legs. Small creatures are continually spat forth by the monstrosity, which are either consumed into the miasmatic form or escape to some monstrous life elsewhere.
Of all the mythos deities, Shub-Niggurath is probably the most extensively worshipped. Her worshippers include the Hyperboreans, the Muvians, T'yog of K'naa, and the people of Sarnath, as well as any number of druidic and barbaric cults. She is also worshipped by the non-human species of the mythos, such as the "Fungi from Yuggoth" (the Mi-Go) and the Nug-Soth of Yaddith. With the proper occult paraphernalia, Shub-Niggurath can be summoned to any woodlands at the time of the new moon.
So is this a compilation?
No, this is a collaboration and huge undertaking. 20 artists linked studios and sound for over a year so that they could work with each other. This led to a deep exploration of the Mythos and Shub-Niggurath
2 CD album comes in a Deluxe 16 page Hard cover DigiBook. Artwork is served on Matte Laminated pages that makes the artwork stand out. A journal with entries by the seeker of the Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young, as interpreted by writers Donald Persson & Alistair Rennie

Every time one of these albums comes out, I buy it without even bothering to listen first. Why? Because FLAC beats KZread, and why waste time testing the waters when I KNOW the tentacles are there, waiting to grab me? Also, all this Lovecraftian goodness makes me wonder what kind of ambient we could get out of collabs inspired by Bloodborne. Eldritch horror with a sprinkling of beasts, blood, and a Japanese twist? "Orphan of Kos Ambient"? Alas, one can dream.

You guys have done such great jobs on these Lovecraft collabs, Cthulhu is in my top 5 ambient albums right up there with Lustmord's "Where the Black Stars Hang", but it's left me wondering what could follow. Other than a Carcosa/King in Yellow collab, I think it might be best to turn attention elsewhere rather than exhaust the cosmic-horror mainstays.

Using this in a western steampunk inspired campaign where in unwittingly a VHS is cursed when rewound to open up a rift to the Eldrich gods. And a goat glitching monster will tell them it is only a matter of time that we recorded and also in a Eldirch language played backwards and forwards as he's shifting in and out of phase in theme with the idea of rewinding. Or sci-fi classics like Dune, or a Japanese cosmic horror themed collab, I love the Gothic European and Middle-Eastern sound scapes, but some more Asiatic vibes would be a nice change and Lovecrafts influence is felt in quite a bit of Japanese literature, games, manga and anime.

I know that having some sort of tracklist for these compilations is pointless (maybe even impossible), because everything is mixed up not as separate tracks, but at least some kind of hints about which parts are made by what contributor, that would be of great help. I like this piece of work as it is, but some parts I like a lot more (like those melodies and atmospeheres at 29:30-32:00 or 57:10-59:30). Knowing what artists made some certain parts would help anyone find 'their cup of tea' style and lead them to discovery of those producers, which would possibly fit their musical taste with higher chance. Nonetheless, great work again, thumbs up!

It's not a compilation, it's a collaboration using a lego-esque approach to production where each of us artists create sounds that other artists then work on back and forth. At any point in time on these albums there will be the fingerprints of at least a handful of artists as each of their layers and sounds play at the same time.
