This was a sight to see when it was recorded live. Apparently when Chris Barrie came in and stood there watching Kryten with a vacuum hose attached to his groin trying to pull Lister's boxers down, he had to wait about 10 minutes for the audience to stop laughing before he could deliver his line.

@1:32 Did anybody notice that the boxers are actually still there? In the original version they are very visible, however this is a version where they have edited the video to make them appear black and like it’s just something else. Obviously realised the continuity error at a later date.

In 1997-98 as part of Red Dwarf's 10th anniversary, Series I-III were remastered. It was mostly for overseas broadcasters who wouldn't accept the earlier series as they felt they looked awful. They were remastered with new effects and music scoring to give a different feel so they'd sell better in certain countries. And some gags were edited out as they either felt inappropriate or dated. Even Norman Lovett was brought back to reshoot some of his original Holly scenes. But cuz most of the fandom hated the remastering, it didn't continue into Series IV.

Does anyone know the name of the episode where thoughts come true? Lister dreams of the beach, money, etc...Rimmer thinks of being buried in the sand as the tide rolls in full of crabs, so they both are? Trying to find it forever.

EXACTLY. Part of the fun is seeing Lister scream and flail around while pretending to be attacked by what looks like an elongated pool toy.

This is the first ever episode of Red Dwarf that I made my gf watch. She was very concerned about me afterwards.. it might have had something to do with her asthma attack during this scene. BTW she's not an asthmatic.

Maybe I'm just imaging it, but Kryten looks a little more pale than normal.....

It's a shame that the Committee for the Understanding of Non-Terrestrial Fright-inducing Lifeforms As a Pacifistic Species had been disbanded by then.
