A timeline without Shrek is a timeline i don't wanna live in. Shrek holds a special place in my heart.

Its crazy to think that if animators didnt so well on the prince of egypt they were sent to work on shrek and its nice but also sad to realize no one actually watches or even knows about the prince of egypt. Its one of my favorite movies❤

So if the implication is that it didn't do anything new from the other 2d dreamworks' 90s animations... You'd be mistaken twice actually, as the rest were released in the early 2000's

I remember watching the special features for the Shrek movies to learn about the process of making them. Hair was a NIGHTMARE for the animators throughout the franchise, but by Shrek the Third, the technology started to improve to the point where they became more daring of animating more complicated hair, such as the scene with Rapunzel's wig falling off.

It’s nice to see their evolution and how they worked with the technology they had at the moment geniuses and it paid off!

Puss was originally meant to have his cape through the whole movie, but it's only seen when he's first seen with Shrek, and on posters. This is because it was hard to animate the cape.

Shrek having the skeletal structure of a gorilla is both funny and makes perfect sense

Early on in Shrek 2, they have Prince Charming whip his hair around and it looks amazing. The technology had just advanced and they showed off. 😂

That's because all of the animators only does 2D animation that did DreamWorks' The Prince of Egypt, the reason why is because it's actually a punishment from the failure of the said movie which the fact that the punishment was named "Shrek'ed".

20+ years is still pretty new and short to get something so hard to animate to look good, for us 20 years is long but when it comes to animating it is really hard to master and understand completely

I still struggle with hair and clothes ngl, dream works really made some progress

Hair was always a struggle not even in movies but in videos games.. ps4 games like red dead 2 struggled to make movement of the air.. Even state of decay 2 had really rough hair designs and it dropped in 2018. Especially when hair clips threw armor it’s just something in general that can’t be created with out having to work on it but still the video was cool and funny to watch 😂

I have so much respect for anyone with the fortitude to be animator.

If you watched Shrek on the DVD player, I don't know if she was just my copy, but in the beginning of the movie it gave you about a 30 minute long talk about how they made the movie and what all it took, and the voice actors also talked to us

I went to school for computer animation in the early 2000s... It was so weird how things would just... Do what they did! I always thought it was so ugly and ridiculous looking 😂😭 and didn't understand why they just didn't stick to the 2D stuff. The people that struggled through this and paved the way for things now are amazing

On the original shrek 2 disk there were animation bloopers you could watch in the extra features… and you got to see alll the wacky animation errors. It was both funny and a little bit terrifying with the blank expressions on most of the messed up animations. Hair was in a lot of them
